  • This might not be in the actual movie, but they do include it in the Lion King Musical on Broadway. I encourage anyone to go and see it if they have the chance.

  • Damn wish they kinda put this in with scars eyes added in da sky in da end this would prolly be the greatest Disney movie of all times to me it still is alotta hidden messages is in it

  • Be Prepared is my favorite song in Disney history, but I'm actually glad this wasn't in the final cut. It holds a great impact, but I think it would have slowed the movie a bit. And although it ends great, the reprise starts out a little awkward...

(But I'm not going to lie, I love that this exists. I can't get enough of Jeremy Irons' voice ><)

  • I'm severely disappointed this wasn't in the final film. It has a much greater impact than the final version - you can see the lionesses' aggression towards the hyenas fading into fear as they realize they're outnumbered. In the final version, it's more like, "Oh crap, hyenas!" It's just not as powerful.

  • It looks like the lionesses are about to atack the hyenas but then they realize how many there actually are. "Holly fuck there are more??"

  • 0:37 Scar looks awesome.

  • "We hold all the aces." So I guess the hyenas lost all their red meat in poker that's why they starve.

  • Btw, a 3D Edition WILL have new scenes, I hope this will be included cos the directors are wrong and this reprise is awesome not rubbing Mufasa's death into our faces.

  • Hyenas should've won. They're awesome in real life too.

  • WTH 0:59

  • Realizing that this was cut, I'm pretty mad that the movie isn't as good as it could've been now.

  • Do not want any more Lion King movies. I don't know about other people, but when Disney makes sequels to their animated films (TLK, Aladdin, Cinderella, Pocahontas, The Little Mermaid, etc..), it ruins the greatness that is the original. I just don't like it. I've only seen the sequels to The Lion King ONCE, and while they weren't terrible or anything, once is enough for me. They just don't compare. That being said, I hope they definitely include all these cut versions on the Blu-Ray release! :D

  • @chandloski Disney has stopped the direct-to-video sequels for good. Thankfully. (I personally think that the only good thing about the sequel are the songs).

  • 18 ppl didnt seem to catch the beauty that is this uncut version

  • iit isn't really unseen when 133,807 people have wacthed it

  • the only reson it was deleted because it's too asome thats why

if that was nala as an adult why couldnt they just delete that scene and make another

    seriesly.

  • Wooooooow, looks cool. I want that in a animation^^

And I want to hear his "roar" ^^

  • This is a good song, but I prefer the one in the movie. However, they could do another remake and include both versions of the song. Instead of waiting till the end to play this version theey could play it at the time that Scar takes the throne.

    Its just a thought

  • The real song from the movie's better.

  • I'm a massive fan of Scar, how did it take me 5 years to discover this existed, well, I need to memorise this now.

  • as cool as this IS--and it IS cool to see it (and especially hear it)--I almost feel like it detracts from the showstopping first version, because with this, it feels like.....

BE PREPARED is a one-shot deal. you can't do a reprise! although the "killing a brothe--" bit was a nice touch.

  • They were going to add this right after Scar told them about Mufasa and Simba's death.

  • We like to assure you no fooling,

Red meat is no longer our scene,

And if now or then we're seen drooling, It's only an ancestor's gene

So be prepared for a glorious future

Be prepared for the pride golden age It's like any other, Who'd murder a bro- If we don't spread rumors, He'll feed us and groom us With friends in high places, We hold all the aces

So don't try and rattle my cage.

    Oh, imagine if anyone dared

    Be prepared

    Oh, imagine if anyone dared

    Be prepared

  • @themangakawolf "He'll feed us and room us" I don't think scar is going to groom them lol =P

  • Why did they cut this?

  • I think this is in the broadway musical.

  • You know that Lioness that ran off in the end of it? Was that Nala? o.o

  • @xMinxieTheWolfx probably not because in the movie when the hyenas invade Pride King she was a cub. beside Scar won't wait that long to take over Pride Rock. so it was someone else...i hope she is ok because they said "Red meat is no longer our scene"....so maybe they ate her to prove a point to the other lioness. :/ but one knows for sure.

  • I'm glad they didn't use this in the final cut. Just showing the hyenas entering and their manic laughter adds more of a sense of dread and despair (without making it painfully obvious to the lionesses that Scar is EVIL).

Yes, Morning Report is awful. Get. Over. IT! You can play the damn DVD without that song anyway.

  • i love the hyenas voices in this wtf why didnt they use this !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow, this gave me goosebumps. :D

  • Comment removed

  • SIEG HEIL

  • Why did they cut this? It was perfect!

  • FFFFFF---

Sweet. Why in the world was this cut? Nightmare Fuel?

  • @zeetweet timing issues actually

  • This absolutely qualifies as Nightmare Fuel. Even if it's unfinished.

  • Wow, that was outright creepy. They couldn't keep this in why? (I'm getting goosebumps here. No joke.)

  • @RunsWithWeasels Because the Lion King is (theoretically) a kid's movie.

  • @springerjkreb

and ... what makes this scene not for kids?

  • I have 2 say it: I know the reason why this never made it 2 the final movie. In the Lion King commentary, the directors said that there was a reprise of Be Prepared, but they cut it out because they felt like the song was rubbing Mufasa's death in the audience's faces. I luv this version myself, but the reason why it was cut out is not that confusing

  • They should've added this to the special edition! It's so foreboding and explains why Nala left instead of the sudden "HOMG how'd you get all the way out here" she had in the original.

  • I like this! It's too bad that they couldn't have put it in but MAN this sounded and looked cool! I would have liked to have seen this animated.

  • I love reprises like this.

  • *shudder*

they put in the morning report in the special version, but they didn't put THIS in???

  • Oh yes, this would have been SO much better. Would have been more badass and awesome, would have made Scar a more sinister villain.

    Why, Disney .... WHY?!?!

  • I'd have liked this ismply for more hyenas. I liked the hyenas in the film and would've been great to see more of others too, than just the trio.

  • i kinda like this one better and i like how they sang when he was becoming king

  • this would've been sick to see in the movie

  • they should have put this in!!!! it's scary!

  • This song and scene was ultimately used in the Broadway Musical though slightly shortened. Much of the lyrics remain.

  • NIIIICE 8D

  • Shame this didn't make it into the movie, had real potential.

  • Soooooo cool!!! Love Jeremy Irons as Scar *__*

  • I always liked "Be Prepared" as a Disney Villain song. One of my favorites, so this makes it look even cooler. Where did you get this? It's not on any DVD I've seen. Or maybe I didn't look well enough on mine.

  • That was muy creepy at the end. (In a good way, of course)

  • I am so glad in final version they cut that ridiculous mohawk from Scars head :D

  • Disney should've invited guests to vote weather or not to put this in or not.

I really think this should've been in the movie.

  • this would have been awesome

  • This scene is aweosme and everything but I just don't think it would actually work well in the movie. I like it an' all but does it really add anything more?

  • @reilly500 Well, if you want to talk about songs that add absolutely nothing to the movie's plot, how about The Morning Report? Yet that song somehow made it into the Special Edition, while this song didn't. At least this song sets the atmosphere and tone of Scar's reign (and shows Nala making the decision to leave Pride Rock). The Morning Report adds nothing and, imo, ruined an otherwise good scene (the original pouncing scene was far better).

  • @pokupokupoku I agree, 100%. The pouncing scene added more to the characters, and Morning Report was a dreadful song.

  • @pokupokupoku

In the original scene. Simba is pouncing on Zazu. Bad Simba!

...in Morning Report you end up going 'pounce on him, pounce on him.'

It makes Zazu much less sympathetic, throughout the film. Especially when Simba and Nala ditch him later

  • So most of the Hyenas are female? Well I guess Disney was being pretty correct.

  • Awesome song. It would have been awkward but awesome.

  • They should have kept this version of the song in, but also the part that they already have in the movie! That would have left an impression.

  • what? you mean like, having scar give his speech and then start the song?

that would have worked brilliantly! :D

  • They shoulda kept this version in the movie it'd be so awesome!

  • If we don't spread rumours

He'll feed us and groom us

    With friends in high places

    We hold all the aces

So don't try and rattle my cage

    Oh, imagine if anyone dared

    Be prepared!

    Oh, imagine if anyone dared

    Be prepared...

  • It's time you were all introduced to Your ruler's executive staff Perhaps not the kind you've been used to But certainly game for a laugh We'd like to assure you, no fooling Red meat is no longer our scene And if now and then we're seen drooling It's only an ancestor's gene So prepare for a glorious future! Be prepared for the pride's golden age! He's like any other Who'd murder a brothe-
  • They should re-release this movie in IMAX theaters like they did in 2002, but this time add this song and animation sequence. It would be awesome!

  • They rereleased this in IMAX?

  • It'll be very cool to have this part in the movie, but I think it would have kill the dramatic atmosphere that Scar's "crowning" (and prelude to the destruction of the kingdom) needs.

  • Love it. It would have made a better edition to the DVD than "The Morning Report" anyway...

  • were were the ordinary by lions in the movie

  • i wish they used that one

  • LYRICS, PLEASE!!!

  • It's time you were all introduced to,

    Your rulers, executive staff.

Perhaps, not the kind, you've been used to.

But certainly, game for a laugh.

We'd like to assure you no fooling.

Red meat is no longer our scene.

And if now and then were seen drooling.

    It's only an ancestor thing.

  • So prepare, for a glorious future, be prepared for the pride golden age.

"It's like any other, who murdered a brother, if we can/don't. spread rumors, he'll feed us and groom us.

With friends in high places, we own all the aces."

So don't try a run for/rustle/ruffle/ruttle my cage.

    Oh imagine if anyone dared!

    Be prepared!

    Oh imagine if anyone dared!!

    Be prepared!~!

  • Thanks! :)

  • Lol you're more than welcome(: !

  • Man. D| I wish they would have kept this version in. x.x It explains why Nala left more.

  • But Nala already explained why she left, to get help.

  • To get help, sure. But it actually shows her exact reason for "getting help." Thus why I said... it explains why Nala left /more/.

  • @j04370859 mufasa's funeral was when the hyenas go to pride rock and you see nala crying in that scene she was a CUB so it couldn't have been her

  • @j04370859 yeah plus this is the scene of mufassa's funeral when the hyena's go to pride rock and in the movie you see nala crying at this scene she was a CUB

  • *Scared*

  • SO should have been kept, but oh well.

  • i know its not in the soundtrack, but I coulda sworn it was in the broadway version. Maybe I'm just thinking it was.

  • No, it wasn't.. it'd be awesome if it was, though.

  • now i no y they didnt put it in the movie. because it scared hell out of me.

  • Alright, I'll be honest. I'm eighteen, and that just scared me to death. XD

  • I like the other version, but this one is so much better than the first one, they should have put this in instead, i wonder what it would look like in color

  • they should make a lion king that shows the Hyena story, and use this song :D

  • That would be cool

  • @0Hyena u r soooooo right it could be like an evil version of the lion king 3

  • @0Hyena That'd be pretty funny...they did it with Timon and Pumba, so why not Shenzie, Banzai and Ed? lol

But as long as they don't make it crappy...

  • @WolfFang121 The hyenas is actully my favorite characters from the movie. Strange i know but that's how i feel. Too bad they didn't get enough screen time.

  • @fraur001 Me too.

And Ed's little laugh at the end didn't hurt matters. Sounded like a full-blown psychopath.

  • Man, why didn't they put this in the movie? This is awesome!

  • who knows - it's a great reprise for the original song.

  • so dont try and rattle my cage is what he says daviddarkmaster

  • they put Morning Report in the special edition; but they cut this.

WHAT THE @#$%&! HAPPENED TO DISNEY!?!

  • The Morning Report didn't need a complete re-edit of the movie like this would have.

  • @daviddarkmaster I KNOW!

  • @daviddarkmaster TBF, the other version of be prepared was much more awesome, and they might have had to cut THAT to put this in.

  • They put Part of this reprise in the Broadway show

  • Jeremy Irons' voice is absolutely fantastic.

  • Comment removed

  • Because in real life The Female Hyenas Are The Leader Of There Group/Pack.

  • but there were males in the movie

  • Yes, But There are Males singing, But The females often Out number Males In the Wild.

  • But Shenzi appeared to be the leader, and she was female.

  • The female hyenas are hyenas' leader. And the alpha male hyena is even low ranking than the lower ranked female...

  • It's time you were all introduced to..

    Your rulers.. Executive staff.

Perhaps not the kind you've been used to.

But certainly. Game for a laugh.

    ~Laughing~

We'd like to assure you no fooling.

Red meat is no longer our scene.

And if now and then we're seen drooling..

    It's only an ancestor thing.

  • So prepare, for a glorious future.

Be prepared for the pride's golden age.

Its like any other.. Who murdered a brother. If we can spread rumors.. He'll feed us and groom us. With friends in high places. We own all the aces. "So dont try to ruffle/run/ruttle my cage?"

    Oh imagine if anyone dared.

    Be prepared!~~

  • isn't it "So don't try and rattle my cage" ?

  • yes thats right

  • I think he says, "un-ruffle my my cage"

  • oh imagine if anyone DARED be prepared LONG LIVE KING SCAR!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • oh imagine if anyone DARED! be prepared hahahaha LONG LIVE KING SCAR!!!!!!!!!!

  • *Ancestor's gene.

  • I really don't here 'gene' in that but if thats what you think it is.

  • That would have been good along with what was in the movie!

Cause its like the Be Prepared reprisal

  • This scene should definitely have been in the DVD special features.

  • I love this scene. I'm going crazy, though. Who is that lioness the hyenas chase away from Pride Rock? It can't have been Nala, she's a cub at this time, and it can't have been Sarabi, she was there during Scar's reign. Could it have been Sarafina? :S

  • she was at Scar's reign too

    all the lionesses were there

  • In this version it takes place much later, so yes, it's Nala they chase off, and it's when she goes to find help

  • She was chased off more because Scar wanted to make her his mate, and all that. So she left to get help, get away from Scar, and to get food.

  • @ladydemando no this RIGHT after simba runs away and the lions are at the funeral for mufassa so nala would still be a cub

  • @MRyeeyay

No it's not. If you pause at the beginning it says that THIS version was at a time when the lionesses begin to challenge him--which would be when pride rock started to go to hell. Pause at 0:02 seconds and see for yourself.

  • where didi you got this?

  • ow... I wish the were been this seen :)

  • I would've loved 2 have had Scar intro. the Hyenas this way.........

  • this one is better imo =P

  • This could have been nice as a reprise :D

  • its in the musical

  • Is it really?

  • cool, i like the song but i still prefer the way they concentrated more on mufasas death, proving he was still important to the story later on.

though maybe the hyenas should have sung this while they were appearing at the end of the scene

"in which lion and hyena come together"

*scar sings in his awesome voice!*

  • where's scar's scar? its missing

  • They still should have put this in the movie. It's better, in my opinion.

  • They should at least put this song on broadway. That'd be awesome!

  • I'd like this if this was in the movie :<

  • I can see why they cut this out. They(Disney) felt it needed to focus on the sadness of mufasa's passing. It's not in the broadway show, either.

  • If you want to see the real lyrics go to my channel.

You'll see it on the left were it show's my avater

  • I think Disney should have left this song in the movie and in the broadway show,

    it's so awsome!

  • That was pretty cool. They should've at least put it in the BW show.

  • its sarabi because she was sent to get food

  • no wrong

  • I want to see this!

  • Why didnt they show this scene? I think it would have given a good message that Scar is king now and doesnt want to be messed with! I love the part where that one hyena was like "We murdered his brothe-" but the hyena shuts his trap! LOL!

  • is that sarabi/nala or who they banished at 1:02??

  • it couldnt've been nala, she was too young, and sarabi was never banished.

  • that one flick at the end of Scars hair, it keeps reminding me of elvis

  • I understand the scene, but I'm not so keen on the song. The idea was that Scar was deceiving them in order to be king. Some of the things in that song would have angered the lionesses. Either they would have run away, or tried to overthrow him.

If that never occurred to them, there's also the whole 'theatrical cut' thing. The movie needed to be short enough to show in theaters, and if they'd kept all the original concepts, it might not have been.

  • well zira must have been part of the pride or the second movie wouldnt make any sense

  • on 0:58 it looks like the hyeanas are getting close to zera..that explains why she was onthe 2nd film

  • *Is* that supposed to be Zira?

  • It's suppose to be Nala i think. Thats why at the end you can see the figure of her running off. It's the part of the lion kign where she goes off to find help then finds simba. :)

  • i think it would be a great scene :)

  • there is no 1:17

  • no he introduces this song "before" mufasa's death because he was describing what they had to do to make him king.

  • oh no when "i commented dat just wat i thought"on my other account it was 4 some1 else anyway i luv scar's voice

  • They should've put this in the movie it's awesome!

Who's the lioness getting chased off?

  • probaly nala

  • Nala was still a cub...I thought it was sarabi.

  • was this on the laserdisc of lion king?
