  • lovely.. thank you.

what is that piece of music call?

  • We get slated for alot of stuff we did in the past, with many accusations that we were only interested in ourselves but tell me, how many other countries invested so much in infrastructure and other areas in the own lands, let alone places the other side of the world?

The world would be less progressive place if it wasn't for the British.

    Sri Lanka looks a beautiful.

  • non of our sri lankan politicians did this much work to sri lanka as British did . 100 years ago . if we scold British we should correct that mistake , im so ashamed about our leaders . if we continue this stupid way ...??????????

  • This is really nice and thanks for posting. From where is this music ? Kind of nostalgic and has a lovely rhythm.

  • Pride and sadness is in my mind at the same time. Time is a amazing act.

  • proud in a way

  • this photos are so inportant to our history

  • wow

  • Nice to see such sharp old pictures. I notice the less crowded streets than in our days. Especially without the extremely violent and dangerous busdriver who in my eyes ruin this island every day with their dirty engines, extreme noise 24/7/7 and reckless driving. So these pictures show me where all that society comes from, not so long ago. Technical progress has obviously also very negative impact in such societies. Not only in Ceylon.. but there it is more obvious today.

  • @NicolasPeucelle - Thank you Mr. Nicolas for you comments and concern over our beautiful contry Sri Lanka. It seems that you are familier with Sri Lankan Life. When we look through "Buddhist Glasses", the physical growth / development is associated with greed/lust which is not benificial to "Nirvana" -( State of being free from suffering)

  • Yes,the brutality in the roadtraffic behavior may indicate the exact opposite way of life to Buddha precepts. Beside the reckless KillerBusses I also noticed the most primitive driving style of large cars, 4wheel drive SUVS owned by rich persons expecting that everybody has to free their way when they speed down the public roads like on race tracks. So there is this very noticeable contradiction in your society. You smash the others with your powerfull machine and your cash.
