... All I have managed to get from this is something involving a little bit of love, a little bit of death, and not much of "heaven," or "the afterlife."
I don't think it's funny, I think hugohunx has a point actually. I really love pappirus' vids, truly great in their simplicity they are, but by taking them further and further he/she could develop even more as an artist. I think especially it could be cool to see some "real" elements incorporated into them, such as hugohunx' example of real playing cards for this vid in particular.
I like your style, but I think I would like to see you go a little further with your backgrounds. I've seen most of your other work and it's all foreground action without any attention paid to backgrounds or the environment the animations are taking place in. Perhaps if you did this animation using playing cards instead of the pages of a book, you may have been able to involve the characters more with the story as well and give it a visual synchresis with the audio.
He can't really improve the audio as it is from an old youtube magic trick video. You should watch the original (none-animated) video that the audio is taken from and how it has been changed via animation (although fair enough it is not mentioned in this new versions description).
I'm sorry for that, I should not of assumed in such a manner. Usually I do not (honestly) as I run my own website and have female staff and they are always correcting people. I just said it without thinking as usually do say he/she when not knowing.
Anywaywhoz... amazing work all the same (You need to do more and get a TV contract for a series if you can come up with a series of 5min original short animations in same style).
