I live in America the land of the free but the government wont let me have a well... Does anyone have some Freedom they can lend me for my well project?
Steve is there really no science to dowsing for water. Like you I don't believe there is anything spiritual to it but I know plumbers who use it to find buried pipes and tees. Maybe its all in there head but do you know if anyone has tried to apply science to it.
@snowcap28 There is no science to it. In fact, there have been several studies that have proven dowsing to be less than 50% successful at finding water (better odds flipping a coin - literally). I know many people swear by it, but there is no substance there (and believe me, I wish there was).
@Hydromissions The only thing scientific I could think of (this is a long shot) is that the water affects the magnet field of the planet and a metal rod moves because the field has changed. But your right I don't think water affects any magnetic field and certainly doesn't create one.
Here's another one for you, if you don't believe the below comment. You can heat your bit up and beat or hit the drilling surface's with a specific type of tree branch at a particular time of growth. This will cause your bit to wear 2 to 3 times longer than normal. You see these are the types of things they don't teach you in college, and can only be learned when working with 80-90 year old cabletool drillers who started drilling in thier teens. They are the true masters of water wells.
You are wrong about water witching, it is based on simple scientific principles. If done correctly you can identify a measure of underground hydraulic flow. There are certain variables such as: Temp. time of day, season, lunar orbit, type of soil, shoes or barefoot, that can add to or inhibit your succes. Nothing magical about it. For $10,000 I tell you all about it.
