Do any of you own one of these, where you've put over 100,000 miles on the vehicle? I'm considering buying one, but I've heard rumors about hybrids needing $3000 battery replacements after 100,000 miles. Is this true? And how have your vehicles held up, even past 50,000? I'm driving a Chrysler with 150,000 (an 07) and while it's been reliable, the mileage isn't all that good.
@lcar4000 My brother has a 2010 model with 60,000+ miles on it, and it is an amazing little car, when we take trips in the car, on the highway we average around 52 mpg, on a tank of gas he averages about 48 mpg, with a pretty good amount of city driving.
I have a 2011 Honda Insight. This guy is over judging the car in a negative fashion. I have been getting 45 MPG combined city and highway driving in eco mode. For almost $3000 less than an entry level Prius that gets 50mpg, the Insight wins bigtime. $3000 is years worth of fuel in one of these cars.
I drove and compared the 2011 Prius. The Insight is a much better vehicle to live with day in and day out. Not to mention the Insight is a much better looking vehicle, in and out!
I must say, Consumer Reports is very disappointing. This is a very biased review. I find myself more in judgment of C.R. 's bad reporting then I do of the car. I have driven both cars Insight and Prius and found both cars to be a good deal. What is best for each person may be a little different. However, the Insight is not as bad as this person claims it to be.
Went to Toyota and Honda to test drive these cars. Night and day in design. Honda looks cutting edge inside and out. The Prius sucks on the inside. That huge middle thing with the small joy sticks looks retarded. The outside looks like chucks of carved out plastic. The price was ridiculous. Couldn't get it totally tricked out in the high end model Prius V. You either got one thing and lost another.
this is the only insight review i heard that gave it bad marks for grip and for "non-sporty driving." I'm quite convinced consumer reports never EVER takes into account fun to drive. for that reason, i'll take what they say with a grain of salt.
They keep comparing this car to the PRIUS the PRIUS is like a CAMRY the INSIGHT is like a CIVIC how do you compare a CAMRY TO A CIVIC althogth they are both the same type of car they are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS!!!!!!
they arent even competitors just because they look the same doesnt mean they are the same thing. Consumer reports are being nazis and entireley too critical. the insight is a CIVIC, the PRIUS is a CAMRY
one is MIDSIZE one is COMPACT. this is a unfair comparsion. review the insight as it is stop comparing it to the prius
Geezus, how much did Toyota pay this guy? Its one thing to express your concerns, but he is just railing the car. I think he said one positive thing the whole time!
we love the Insight it gets 53mpg on the hills and back roads of wisconsin, rides nice. also drove the Prius didnt care for that at all . wont use consumer report again
@Rell09ny We all know people who drives Honda vehicle tend to drive it fast. Toyota's drivers drive really slow and at a moderate speed. The Prius got a bigger engine, batteries, and larger electric motor. I would still get the Insight and just Dynamat all the panels and floor.
I find it really funny that lots of consumer-oriented sites nowadays make such a big deal out of lack of stability control. How did people drive 10 years ago??
this guy is hating on the insight this guy sucks, hes voice is irretating i just want to kick his ass!!!

This guy really hated the Insight. I love mine and average 4.2 L/100 km. That is a whole lot better than what this guy said.
