Can someone explain to me what this is cuz I grew up on Super Mario Bros 3 and I beat it only about a couple of years ago, with every level completed. I know they were doing something on the gameboy with this cards you'd slide through it and you'd get new levels and stuff, but this seems really different..and I want to see if I can get it somehow

If you haven't gotten a reply yet, this is a ROM hack of the original SMB3- It's not something Nintendo did, but rather something a normal user did by changing the data within the game files.

You'd need emulation and an SMB3 rom to use it, which is a shady thing in and of itself, but Googling something like 'smb3 chaos control' might yield results.

When I made the hack, my idea for a "story" was that Bowser got a Chaos Emerald and used it to twist and warp the 8 Mushroom Kingdom worlds. Looking back, I now think this idea is kind of dumb. But ah well, it's the gameplay that matters more I guess...

(On that note, Worlds 6, 7 and 8 are fantastic compared to the other ones, level-design wise.)

(to JFC84) Ah, the candles aren't so bad, actually. Those flame enemies are called Hot Foots. They act just like Boos; they come at you when you turn your back, and stay put if you stare at them. They're way easier than Boos though, 'cause they can't fly, so you can just jump over them.

They're evil in large groups though. Like, really. o_o

I created this hack, yes sir. Looking back on it now I can see tons of errors and mistakes I made... I could do better now if I went back and, say, made a new SMB3 hack.

Some notable trivia: This hack was made before the SMB3 Overworld Editor was created. That's why all the locks, pipes and Airship pointers are unchanged. The SMB3 Discombobulator can't do all those fancy-pants tricks. :)

no difference between the difficulties of world 1 and higher worlds. at first, i find world 1 and world 2 interesting, but when going to higher worlds, i find it no change ,no difficulty and no creativity any more except colors, it's obviously u lose interest and patience after a long run when designing higher worlds!

VirtuaNES is the emulator that I use, and you can set the controllers and the timer in the menu Options - Movie. Here is a checkbox with the option Display Pad Information, and you can mark up to 4 controllers to see an record
