It was common sense ever since the first trailer that showed his mask that they would indeed turn him into a Samurai. My guess is they did that to tell a better rivalry story (& 1 that makes more sense) with his clan being Samurai while the Lin Kuei are Ninjas (instead of assassins). It's gonna be a Samurai vs Ninja rivalry/war, & with Scorpion's code of ethics/honor, he'll do whatever it takes to avenge his clan/family, even though he's being tricked & abused by Quan Chi. Samurai scrub.

OMG!!!! Its a freaking webisode. Get Real. So what if thye put him as a samurai. that explains the type of mask he wears. you do know they covered they faces like ninjas underneath the samurai mask? and ninjas came from that. in the video games scorpion is not even human so i can see why they said feudal Japan. you guys are missing the smallest details in these stories.
