A easier way to taper is making 10% cuts every 2/3 weeks. please visit the website thetrap.org.uk
A slow and gentle taper can be done without adding any other drug just giving the brain the time it needs to adjust. I have been tapering from 15 mg valium since a year ago and I'm doing pretty well with the help of new beginnings detox center. I'm very close to the end of my taper and here I got the hope I so needed to survived. Thanks Dennis and Joy for giving the help we benzo addicts need.
Again, as an alternative to benzos, I found that Kratom was much kinder solution to use as an anxiolytic rather than the hypnotics family, as it worked far better. It took me three days of irritability when i stopped using kratom, similar to caffeine, as opposed to benzos, which I could feel withdrawals for weeks. Benzos are a nightmare to quit, especially Xanax (alprazalam), because of the way it works on GABA levels with the blood brain barrier. Good work helping people with these also Dennis!
I also am an expert In the way these drugs work in the brain and also the equivelant doses of 1 benzo to another. There are equivelant dose charts at the website benzo.org which is also where you will find proffessor Hether Ashton and all her studies. There are testimonials from other addicts around the world too so your not on your own believe me. However whichever particular benzodiazepine you are on will be swapped to diazepam (valium) as it has the longest duration of action half life.
yes the ashton method Is the best way to get off of your benzos Iv been on Nitrazepam and then Diazepam for about 10 years now but I started to reduce from 15mgs Diazepam by 1mg a fortnight and It is almost symptomless you dont feel any withdrawl symptoms unless you are psycologically very dependant on these drugs but physically if you go slow enough you can getdown to almost nothing and then stop as your body ajusts to the absence of benzos.Feel much better and healthier & wish u did it yrs ago
