if you clean all the dust and dirt off the pc parts prior to adding the oil with something like a air duster and then seal the tank so no dust and dirt from the air gets into the oil it stays great. I recommend using Mineral Oil because it's odorless and never goes "off".

? It's oil, dude. Might as well kill the fish first and see if they come back to life when you put them in the tank. Yeah, that would be cool ... smashed up dead fish in your oil-filled computer ... especially when they get pureed by the fans. Good idea.

Yes after a while, I recommend you use mineral oil instead if you want it for a long term project.
