Why do we need wind power? It merely takes money from the poor and gives it to rich landowners, Sir Reginald Sheffield earned £350,000 last year paid to him by the pointless green taxes on our power bills. These are set to rise year in year out until 2050. And all for what? Billions are being spent on this useless technology, when it could have been better spent on building new conventional power stations. All the people on here have vested interests, money talks. Subsidies will end, then what?
First, the biggest aspect of electricity bill price rises comes from the rise in gas prices. We get about half of our electricity from burning gas. Gas is a finite resource.
Secondly - subsidy. All power generation is subsidised. Nuclear, when you include decommissioning and waste disposal, is the most expensive option.
Third - you mention 'conventional generation.' If you mean coal, you're ignoring climate change. If you mean nukes, you're ignoring the high cost and waste.
I think its ironic that people would want to point out that the windmills scare the farm animals when the animals are probably about to be slaughtered anyways.
I bet most of the people making this argument would have no qualms about eating them or the terror the animals go through on their death trip.
@sheerterror77 People also make no fuss when they hit an animal on the road. Nobody says we should do anything to eliminate road kill! If anyone making this argument hit a deer, they'd say "Oh my car!" Not "Oh the poor deer!"
The raising of Livestock has been proven to be responsible for 18% of all greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) which is more than the total emissions from the entire transport sector including cars, planes and ships.
They say these things chop up birds? I say who gives a rats ass! The birds will just have to learn to stay away from these things. I think wind power is awesome!
Daisies not looking very happy as she and her friends have just been made redundant. They were working for a methane digester company until the wind turbines turned up.

I have yet to see animals disturbed by the turbines! It's just another excuse to make wind power look bad.

Yes, that's right.
Climate change has multiple contributory factors. What's your point?

Humans have to learn to respect nature, not the nature have to learn to respect humans.
