@hihi0 in the manga, they are just really good, trusting friends. if by 'subtext' you mean anything subtly of romantic love, then no.

@dawdlex3 Yeah, that's what I thought. Of the manga I've read so far they are plain old really good trusting friends. The only moment of weirdness was the one time they both blushed, but that was it- and in context there wasn't any sort of Kyu/Ryu.

It sure is entertaining seeing Kyu/Ryu in the anime.

I prefer Kyu although Ryu is cooler . Kyu is more intelligent when it came to solving the case (This is stated in KiWi) .

By The Way , I don't even like any member of class A .They are so self-confident ,and stern on class Q just because they thought they were in higher level . I only have sympathy to Toya ,the awkward girl who turned out to be an Akidou master , in class A .

I like class Q the most with hilarious Kyu , serious Ryu , strong-willed Megumi, genius Kazuma ,and athelete Kintaro.
