When a pit twists his prey's hand it breaks lesser bones almost instantly causing pain and averting the attacker to fight back. Just thinking :)
@AltarOfThoughts The only issue with Pits is that they are harder to train and less obedient not saying they are bad dogs, cause Ive had a few. Just for training purposes and the over all ability to do the job GSD's are the best choice.
I hate to say it but they shouldn't have sent those dogs in. That was a situation that not only was deadly force authorized and justified it should have been encouraged!! That could have easily been a person getting shot! It just goes to show you that even police departments are so afraid of liability they make stupid choices instead doing what needs to be done.
@cuffem311 a lot of times we send the k9s in, in situations where we try to minimize the risk of people being hurt or killed. The dogs do their jobs well, and the police have to make what they think is the best decision in any given situation. Unfortunately this means dogs are sometimes killed or hurt. Glad to see this dog was ok.
I'm so, so glad the dog who was hurt recovered and is doing well, I almost cried when I saw that. I am sure his owner was devestated when that happened- the dogs and their handlers have such tight bonds it'd be like watching your own child being shot. When a pit twists his prey's hand it breaks lesser bones almost instantly causing pain and averting the attacker to fight back. Just thinking :)

@AltarOfThoughts The only issue with Pits is that they are harder to train and less obedient not saying they are bad dogs, cause Ive had a few. Just for training purposes and the over all ability to do the job GSD's are the best choice.

Its to bad that you cant find a good GSD (i mean that is healthy on the hips)

I hate to say it but they shouldn't have sent those dogs in. That was a situation that not only was deadly force authorized and justified it should have been encouraged!! That could have easily been a person getting shot! It just goes to show you that even police departments are so afraid of liability they make stupid choices instead doing what needs to be done.

@cuffem311 a lot of times we send the k9s in, in situations where we try to minimize the risk of people being hurt or killed. The dogs do their jobs well, and the police have to make what they think is the best decision in any given situation. Unfortunately this means dogs are sometimes killed or hurt. Glad to see this dog was ok.

I'm so, so glad the dog who was hurt recovered and is doing well, I almost cried when I saw that. I am sure his owner was devestated when that happened- the dogs and their handlers have such tight bonds it'd be like watching your own child being shot. However, I hope those other dogs and those cops got their piece out of that asshole for doing that..
