  • You should never rev the engine while its cold, especially on a vintage bike or you will pay for it later in an complete engine rebuild.

  • Awesome!

  • disco is dead

  • @canals22 (sorry, I had problems typing in the message box)

  • Guys that own these things like to convince each other that they are some kind of priceless treasure. Worthless treasure is more like it. You can't give the damn things away. They keep popping up on craigslist around here and they are all basket cases. It's fun to watch the seller go from asking $5000 to $500 in a matter of weeks. Pretty bikes but awful to work on and lousy commuters. Any ANY 600 sold today would blow the doors off it too.

  • I had a VF1000R in 1990. I had a new exhaust put on as well as a K&N carb kit. Still, the bike felt like a slug to me compared to my fz750. The vf1000R felt top heavy, and handled sluggishly. the motor could not produce that snap acceleration that would pull my arms straight. I utterly hate this bike in every way. My friend's v65 magna would leave this thing for dead every time. Lousiest sport bike sine 1980, period.

  • Dude Honda made the most tits bikes to ever come out of the 80s. Aspencade, 600 Hurricane, Interceptor, Sabre, Nighthawk, Nighthawk S, Need I say more??!

  • I just realized that there's one for sale here near my house! I recognized it thanks to the videos here on YouTube. :-)

  • a had a VF 750 F myself... very good bikes

  • I'll be getting one in about two months. :-) There's someone here selling it to me for approx. $800 with 15K miles on the odometer. :-)

  • Note: This is supposed to be my reply to borgir666666's post.

  • My was with 180 k kilometers and still runs with new owner :D. Now i riding dirt bikes only

  • Good taste in Bikes. Bad taste in music.

  • Thanx for the video, great stuff. I just realized a dream and aquired one for my 40 birthday. An 1984 VF1000R. Awesome bike. Will post video in couple of months, have to clean it up. Was stored in a farm shed for about 5 years. Going to give me something to do over winter. Ride save.

  • I have the same "Battle Axe" front tire on my 85 VF500F!!!! Pirelli in the rear!

  • Honda power ! very nice bike, but the picture of the pistons in the beginning of the video is not from a vf1000. It's from a Honda NR750, a V4 oval cylinder 32 valve bike. Very expensive an very rare.

  • Es una exelente maquina, yo tengo una igual

  • Great Vid. Would love to own a VF1000R some day. Currently own an 83 and an 85 VF750 F.

  • Damn! My father drive this bike many years. I love the sound of the v4!!! When i was 13 years old i stole it with a friend and we drive 240km/h from Rorschach-St.Gallen in Switzerland.

    Great old bike......

  • Nice video of your VFR1000R,.i purcahse one in 1984,it was great touring bike,.however a heavy bike which really wasn't a success HRC hoped for on the race track in stock form.

The VF1000 Interceptor out perform them.

    Cheers.

  • I am a happy owner of an 1985 RE. It is fully restored with a converted CBR1000RR reardamper mounted upside down. Functionates beatufylly, but have a plan to replace spring with that from the old VF100R damper. My engines is also tuned, with ported heads, Dave Dodge stage III cams, KN filter, dynojet carb kit, modified airbox and racing exhaust.

Put down close to 120 rearwheel hp on the dyno, before the clutch started to slip. Great bikes.

  • Wow! Now you've a very speed VF1000R, really?

I love the extraordinary torque of this motor, and I think that, if Honda wanted again to produce a vf 1000, could be born a new, fantastic sport-tourer.

I'm searching the seat cowl for my RF... do you know someone that have one?

  • They are both 85s. I am almost finished restoring the one I have owned since 85 and I bought another basket case that is waiting for its turn in the resto. I will get some footage of them and let you see.

  • O.k.,I wait with great interest! Ciao!

  • nice, i have 2 of them

  • great! What type? Have you some pictures?

  • tHIS BIKES REQUIER A REAL MAN

  • Thank you!!!

  • oh man - thanx a lot for putting this video in!! though this bike has been sold over 20 years ago, it's still a machine to touch your heart! one of the greatest bike ever! Price in 1984: approx. 18.000 DM ( german marks).... same like today € 18.000.....

  • I like especially the Rothmans design, and I'm a total Honda fan. I have seen one for sale here in my local area, and are considering to buy it.

  • I suggest you to buy only a model RF or RG (The "Rothmans"): first model -RE- have problem with the head camshaft...

It's a grat bike, just only a bit heavy, but with a unique motor and an insuperable quality of the components... on the highways you'll drive a "Cruise"...It was assembly directly by HRC!

    Cheers!

  • No Brasil essa motocicleta vale ouro!

  • Honda is all about supreme build quality , my friends stock 87 vf700 looks like it rolled out of the factory yesterday

  • These came out when I was a kid, currently on a fireblade- but I still hanker over one of these. Why? You only have to look at it.....

  • Best looking sport bike evermade.Huh....
