When using 2 cameras, don't adjust the "crosseyedness" (more correctly known as convergence) physically unless you really know what you are doing.  It is way easier to do it in editing software, and if you mess it up doing it the physical way, you screw up your whole shot. A better option is to use 2 GoPro HD Hero cameras and their 3D case which runs $100. Plus the case automatically syncs the feeds eliminating the need for a slate (clapper board) and comes with free editing software as well.

@v12tommy The Go2Pro HD doesn't have good enough frame timing if you shoot for more than about 3 minutes you start to get frame drift. Didn't have this issue. Yes convergence is One of about 20 terms used for the "cross eyedness". Also the Go2Pro doesn't have adjust able IO (spacing between the eyes) which is important when shooting at different ranges for different sized screens. You can't adjust convergence in Post. because software can't create data for ocular inclusion.

Obviously you can get to a point where the end result is unusable, but I have never had any issues doing it in post. Sure there are many physical adjustments that can be made to make 3D better, but I think if someone is going to try to do 3D for $400 or less, more often then not they would end up screwing up the 3D effect making adjustments. As for frame drift, I have 90+ minute videos without any drift.
