Thanks. It's as amazing as it is rare that the plane stayed with same airline from start to finish (and maintained the highest dispatch reliability in LAB's fleet right up until retirement!). The only other aircraft that have done so for almost as long are Iran Air's 727s acquired back in '74/'75.
You definitely made the right choice at ATA before they retired them. As of 2011 in fact, it will become even harder to catch a ride on one of these beauties.
Something special about Wednesdays?? As it so happens, she first flew on Tuesday, 12 August 1969 and was delivered new to Lloyd 26 Tuesdays later, on 17 February 1970. Would have been spooky if she really were made on a Wednesday..
Nope, Lloyd operated 861 throughout her 37 active years. I don't think that any other Boeing has spent so long with one airline and it's possible that even Iran Air's 722s don't get to break that record (they would do so in mid-2011).
Thanks. I was quite interested and yes that is an amazing accomplishment for an airline and one aircraft. One of the all time best aircraft ever built.
Sadly that's as far as it goes. Take-off and landing rolls in the higher airports in Bolivia guzzle a lot of memory, and my memory stick was nearly full after flying CBB-LPB-CBB in the cockpit of the same aircraft the previous day... :-(
Having said that, what I can say is that this landing in Sucre lasted 50 seconds and ended with a tight 180º turn on the threshhold at the end of the runway.
Brings back memories....

The only Boeing aircraft other than the 747 to have triple-slotted flaps.

@Psycho9263 B.737 Classics have triple-slotted flaps too.The 747SP, meanwhile, had double.

Great video, best airplane ever. Wow, that is an amazing fact that this airplane spent it's entire working life with one airline.
I worked as a F/A for 4 years at American Trans Air(now defunct). Before they were retired I bid 727 trips consistently for over a year.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Sounds like a sloppy ass landing but thats because the pilot came in too quick and set on reverse thrust.
