  • Like the most dedicated, deluded, blinkered $cientolgist,Randi too's an irrational "true believer".A true believer in his own fundamentailst materialist dogma.A long time spokesman for pseudo-skeptic group CSICOP,he's no a scientist, nor does he investigate. But he has an ugly history of denouncing&persecuting REAL scientists who open-mindedly do investigate "forbidden" fields such as E.S.P.In Randi's dogma,ESP's impossible&anyone who dares investigate it is an evil pseudoscientist! He's a fanatic.

  • Great man, sobering thoughts.

Although this video has very bad audio I'm afraid.

  • sup with all these black servers getting in the shot.

  • Funny these religious people attend to this kind of meeting just to defend god and his fascist doctrines upon man... but damn! does god need human bodyguards?

  • I hear a religious people and I feel so ashamed for being human.

I'm glad that I'm also seeing Randi, what kinda cures me of this bad feeling and makes me feel proud once more. Thank you James Randi for existing. Back on those days you entered on these silly debates with these fool people, but nowadays I see you know it's useless.

  • Regarding the faith healer part, why don't they use these amazing powers (pfft) and just work at hospitals healing the kids with cancer? How are they allowed to operate? I don't understand why governments do nothing to stop them profitting from the gullible?

  • Religion is natures way of keeping idiots in one spot so you can keep an eye on them.

  • @jimmyjazz240 James Randi is nature's way of keeping them in check.

  • I fuckin LOVE James Randi !!

  • i like this guy.

  • Excellent video.

Randi is a Skeptic on Steroids. =D

  • this is funny, i just love it.

    blahkah blahkah jeeeezuss

  • Good old James Randi.

  • awesome post! amazing randi! thanks!

  • The thing about saying, we do not believe in things now or believe them to be foolish, but at a later date they may be explained with science, and then thinking this can be said with religion is a complete fail on that questioners part. Here is the big difference, a theory is surrounded by skepticism, until sufficient evidence is presented. With religion it is surrounded by blind faith, regardless of having absolutely no evidence present.

  • @3dcow Who knows? In 50 years they may discover that I am the true GOD. So worship me now!!!

  • OMG, the incessant clanking of the silverware and plates for 90 minutes is so obnoxious!!!!

  • @Laevi1337 Everyone in the crowd is having dinner.

  • People in our society have forgotten that half of the first ammendment is You dont have a right to not be offended. The bastardized quote, I disagree with what you say but I defend to the death your right to say it. Have we forgotten such simple ideas swimming in this sea of PC garbage we all have to pretend to love?

  • @ShadowSandy Thumbs up and here, here.

  • @ShadowSandy excuyse me sir, but i have every right to be offended.

typical libtard trying to tell me that what is clearly offensive is not offensive.

trying to tell me that the homo lifestyle choice is somehow acceptable.

Or that the family doesn't mattter.

go to hell and stop poisoning america.

  • @AnonymousElektron First of all, that is Ma'am. Secondly, I am actually closer to a libertarian. Classically liberal but that is not how you meant the term I am sure. Lastly. I dont care what upsets you! In fact I EXPECT you to be upset regularly! You do not have the right to expect that I will not offend you in my free expression of myself. Funny that you a "conservative" fellow is so quick to dismiss one of the primary foundations of the constitution and our liberty.

  • @AnonymousElektron Damn Poe's law. I can't tell if you're a troll or not.

  • for a momet i thought james would seriously NOT explain why his beard is green, is a non question.

  • Fantastic video! Thank you for putting this up!

  • Great video, great facts.

  • It figures...the religious fanatics get offended....poor babies! If they had the knowledge of higher power and wisdom within, NOTHING should be able to offend them. Grow up.

  • @rastarigate A quip insulting people is now considered grown up?

  • @terskip As stated, he was insulting the beliefs, not anyone in particular. You would think some who is supposed to have the ultimate spirit of truth and wisdom could never be insulted, so deep should their understanding be. So in answer to your question, yes! A quip directed in such a way is just fine. The religious get pissed when they are equated with cults, because they know there really isn't much difference.

  • @rastarigate For clarity, i never accused the speaker of insulting anyone. I accused you. You called people who's beliefs differ from you "poor babies", while claiming to have a greater understanding of their own beliefs (which is amazingly arrogant) and conclude with pure condescension.

It just amazes me when the "objective" mind uses immature quips to deliver the message.

  • @terskip Why thank you for the clarity. Then my initial comment remains, because Randi hit the nail on the head and dealt with that nut well. "Poor babies" is quite mild compared to what many people will say of the cult like mentality of people who claim to have a higher truth and then cry and complain when called out on the stupidity of it all.

This is a you tube comment section, mind you. Take a look at some of the vitriol that gets slung on here and your "amazement" will most likely dwindle.

  • @terskip "You called people who's beliefs differ from you "poor babies"" - Yes, I did. But not because their beliefs differ, but because of their babyish response of "I'm offended"

"while claiming to have a greater understanding of their own beliefs (which is amazingly arrogant) and conclude with pure condescension."

At one time I was one, so I have an excellent understanding of their beliefs. I never said mine was greater though, so you basically are making things up now.

  • @rastarigate I ended up getting through 40 minutes of the video before another topic caught my fancy. So I may not have heard the specific "I'm offended" . If it was, than my bad.

I will still differ with you about your understanding of their beliefs. Your past experience with a perceived similar belief system has to remain directly linked to you and your understanding. When you measure their understanding of their belief and conclude it to be lacking, than yes you are claiming to be greater.

  • @terskip Ok, we'll drop the offended bit and get down to their beliefs.I'll actually change my statement to:

"One would think that if they had greater knowledge of wisdom within them ( which christians believe via a holy spirit that dwells within them ) then nothing would be able to offend them".

That is christian doctrine (1 cor 3:16), yet it isn't apparent in their actions and reactions. And they will get offended so easily, while telling you in the same breath that you are going to hell.

  • @rastarigate Fair enough. In thinking about both your statements the word "offend" is hard to limit. There are many things I would take offense at that have nothing to do with religion. So, i am just sitting here trying to weigh the validity of such a wide brush stroke.

Hmmmm... you statement does hint at spiritual maturity and then proceeds to paint everyone at the lowest rung. Hmmmm....

For the record, I wasn't offended by the speakers remarks. I thought he used a poor argument.

  • @terskip My statement was directed at the woman becoming offended. Then the broader brush was at "fanatics". Like a guy I knew who would directly say to you, "I'm so offended!" if you said the words "Jesus Christ" as an expression. The same guy would then tell your 8 year old that he/she was going to burn, choke, vomit, scream in agony and die eternally in a lake of fire if they didn't belief his cult's teachings. That is the same person who (like the woman in the video) who would stand (cont)

  • @terskip .... up at a Q and A, explain how offended he was, and then ask a typical fanatic nonsense question like, "Why is there gravity, then?" I mean, Jesus Christ :). C'mon.

  • @terskip I agree with your thought on Randi. He could have used a much better argument.

  • @rastarigate Yes, i did not see the Q and A and the woman, and as a Christian i would not be in favor of the fear, high pressure sales tactic.

On a side note, i think one of the primary themes through Christianity is that man falls short of God's level. I am always amused when someone blasts Christianity due to the failings of a "Christian", by doing so they affirm the message.

Not saying you did that, but truth is truth regardless of the doorknob delivering it.

    Nice talking with you.

  • @rastarigate I was raised Roman Catholic. I still think of myself as christian. And I can NOT agree more with your sentiments and words.

It's rather disturbing how easily people get upset and rail against something based on a personal belief, while at the same time acting in a way completely contrary to what their stated belief teaches them to act.

And as a moral PERSON, not just as a christian, I do feel it's important to call people on their hypocrisy.

  • @AdamaGeist Thanks for the reply.

I was a christian for over 20 years, including going to a christian college and hitting church no less than 4 times every week. This is one of the things in particular that used to and still does annoy me.

It's such a level of hypocrisy, childishness and a complete contradiction to those set doctrines, it's almost comical to see. And I see it a lot. Not with everyone, of course. But definitely the loudest and most outspoken are also the most easily offended.

  • @rastarigate In my own experience, the reason why they're the most easily offended is because their belief is the most fragile. They don't truly believe what they espouse, they use the dogma to justify their prejudices.

Which makes it so very hard for me, as a christian. I don't accept churches, most organized faiths, the whole lot of them. They use the framework of belief to justify one form of control or another. And I, who still have faith, have to defend myself against their bad example.

  • @AdamaGeist I've seen it both ways: Incredibly strong people in their faith who can't handle you not taking their dogma seriously ( like my father ), and the weaker, more fragile minded ones who follow suit... But both types have no problem telling you stoning gays was fine ( and maybe should be reimplemented ), that you will burn in hell, that murdering of women and children was fine at one time etc... It's very charles manson clan like. But they all claim to have a spirit of god within....

  • @AdamaGeist This sums up the whole offense thing quite funnily:

    watch?v=uC91GYEumyA&feature=channel_video_title

  • Tune into about 1:14:30 or so for the religious nutbag and stupid questions galore

  • @nausinora That's the exact one I was referring to. "Wahhhh, wahhhh, you called my religion a cult...! sniff sniff, boo hoo" And I'm supposed to believe yo have a magical holy spirit in you?...the one that helped create the universe? you gotta be shittin me. Even Buddhists have more self control. :)

  • Ah. Good ole' Peter Popoff. He's back in he saddle as a multi million dollar fraudster, Private jet, mansion and all. Why did he never went to jail ?
