  • 1:30 Brazilian Busta Rhymes

  • Yay, Telemundo with Jorge Ramos commentating. Good times.

  • Kasey Keller=True Gentleman

  • @1:44 is probably the best act of sportsmanship that I have ever seen in a professional match. When you have Romario wait to shake your hand in the middle of the game, that is MASSIVE respect

  • Thanks for everything, Kasey.

  • US Soccer LEGEND

  • still considered An Absolute legend at Leicester CIty.. Only now retiring at the age of 42. Take a bow, Kasey. Its been a pleasure.

  • Dude is a BEAST!!!

  • Just think about this game being played now.. only 13 years difference and that stadium would have 75k+

  • Kasey Keller's balding vs. Romario's: who ya got?

  • WOW. Keller was a STEEL CURTAIN. My goodness!!!

  • ohh crap.. sampson as head coach... bad memories!

  • My dad played on the national team with him

  • @LilGermanSoccer what is your dad's name?

  • @LilGermanSoccer

    what's your dad's name?

  • haha Romario's pissed.. going to see him play Man U as a 40 year old balding man today. We'll win don't worry. SOUNDERS FC FTW

  • @LunaticSumo Yeah, that didn't really work out..... but he is still amazing!!!

  • @LunaticSumo - Sounders played well against Man U in the first half. Keller had an INCREDIBLE save. The second half was only bad because Sigi literally took out the entire starting squad. It was literally the Manchester starters versus the Sounders Reserves. haha. Oh well. I guess he wanted them to be able to say they played against Man United

  • Legend at leicester city n shud return as a coach wen he retires.....romario who????

  • @Leicester87 He is going to coach for the Sounders. He retires tonight. I am pretty sure I will be in the stadium openly sobbing.

  • Seven unbelievable saves. Kasey is like 40 and he still makes unbelievable saves with the Seattle sounders :-)

  • wow usa are rubbish

  • @10galls then Brazil would have kicked our asses this game.

  • His son and me were best friends> he came to my birthday... :)

  • I got to see him in the earlt 90's at a goalkeeper camp that had all of the national team keepers there (except meola). Kellers athleticism is something I have never seen repeated in any sport in person. Where the other national team keeps were making saves during a demo with sweet dives, keller was making them on his feet.

  • he has hair?!

  • what year was this in?

  • @CashSmeller 1999

  • @CashSmeller 1998 i think

  • @CashSmeller 1998 i believe

  • how about the punt @ 2:04

  • what a kick there at the end by kellar

  • do i hear 100 dollars...100 dollars?

  • Kasey Keller is coming to my schools soccer game on Tuesday! :D

  • @ApeFlyyy You go to Thurston or Timberline? I was at the game. LOL. I'm an old classmate and teammate of Kasey's, at North Thurston. He was just as amazing back then!

  • he's retiring after this year :(

  • Those were great saves, even if it wasn't Kasey Keller. But, now he gets so mad that he has to save a goal and that the ball got by teh whole tea. Its kinda funny...

  • Kasey, we love you!

    Greetings from Germany, Mönchengladbach! :)

  • " hahaha " 1:53 is the only bit i understood,

  • OMG!!! he's amazing!

  • WOW. That is awe-inspiring. Usually you get all pumped up watching people make goals, but I'm so excited watching these get blocked!

  • The most impressive thing about today's Seattle/DC's dismal game was Keller. Pushing through an obvious injury while being boo'd and still blocking 4 more shots. Even at 40 dat Keller still Kelling.

  • While in HS, I was lucky enough to attend a goalkeeping camp that included all of the US national team goalies at the time (Friedel, Meola, Vanoli, and Keller). They put on an exhibition, and Keller made the rest of them look very slow. While the other goalies dived to save, Keller used some lightning footwork to contain the shots while still on his feet. He makes it look easy. Easily the most explosive athlete I've ever watched in person, and perfect technique.

  • when keller had hair lmao

  • BEAST !!

  • KASEY!

  • goleraso aunque para mi el mejor golero del mundo es ladislao mazurkiewicz

the best goalkeaper is ladislao mazurkiewicz

  • ...what people don't understand is that keller's technique and form is text-book PERFECT (at least in this game)...people talk about how great reina, buffon and others often don't exhibit great form, although have great athletic abilities

  • ...that really was amazing....and the shots weren't from the catholic school girl league either

  • Comment removed

  • i disagree Brad Fridel was more solid then Kasey Keller. thats probably why he started over him in the 2002 world cup also.

  • I think that Manuel Neuer's performance against Porto also is a potential candidate for single greatest goalkeeper performance in a match.

  • But I don't think keller's performance is a candidate for the best ever in a match. For US soccer yes just like the ending says. But not best ever in world history.

  • or Casillas vs. Zaragoza, or Kameni vs. Barca, or Gorka Iraizoz vs. Benfica.

  • once went to a camp in the early 90's w keller, friedel, vanoli and the like as teachers. Of all the top keepers there, keller was the best. the fastest i have ever seen a goalkeeper move.

  • Well, Brad Friedel is about 12 feet tall, so it's no surprise that he isn't quite as fast as Keller.

  • keller is the man! every thing that goes up comes down. know its just howards turn hope he does just as well. the day will come when a new younger goaly replaces Tim howard 2. GO SOUNDERS!!!!

  • Great performance by a great goalkeeper.

  • tim howard is better than keller he sucked in the world cup 2006

  • Of the six goals the USA gave up in 2006, Keller was at fault for approximately zero of them.

  • Goalkeeper? No way..... Legend.

  • weaker teams dont have better gks its just they are tested much more in a game so they can look better.

  • worse keeper ever

  • kasey keller, Leicester City legend. USA, USA, USA, USA, USA, USA USA, USA!!

  • weaker teams usually have relatively great goal keepers.

  • Lets just hope howard repeats this performance on sunday.

  • Tim Howard vs. Argentina > this

  • its true, its true lol

  • That second save was simplly incredible...and very funny how Lalas gives Romario an ass-slap. Good sportsmanship, I say.

  • omg what a worldclass GK. his hair is the only thing he lost... the quality is still there. i just remember last game in germany, keller with his kids on the field and 50 000 guys just scream "CASEY KELLER!!!"

  • Should be the USA goalie

  • I wish he was still the U.S Goalie

  • The second save is world class.

Only a US 'keeper would make that save.

Take it from one who knows.

  • he looks better without hair

  • yeah he looks boyish in this

  • The US has been able to shine in football at One position, and it's goal keepers. Probably because all our sports, (football, baseball and basketball) involve a great deal of hand work.

Randy Moss, LeBron James, Kober Bryant or Terrell Owen would make great goalkeepers.

  • Kobe grew up in Italy, and already has a soccer background.

  • Wow, Keller still has an almost full head of hair, haha. Naw, but he really is a good goalie, especially his goal kicks, which go really deep downfield. He ranks up there with Kahn and Dida deffinately.

  • I find it incredible that Americans make a big deal out of goal kicks! hahaha I've been to matches in the US and all the soccer moms cheer every time they kick the ball, no matter what happens, if they kick it is a good thing hahaha "Good boot" they always saY!

  • "I've been to matches in the US and all the soccer moms cheer every time they kick the ball, no matter what happens"

are these matches recreational game for little kids?? cause it would be understandable if soccer moms where cheering for every kick..cause its little kids playing..lol

  • we lived in DC when the MLS side was being put together and thought it should have been called AC DC, but ..oh well. anyway, my important contribution to this comment area is kasey keller is, above all, HOT. H-O-T hot. and GO SOUNDERS (we live in washignton west now).

  • and exactly what would AC stand for?

  • athletic club, duh.

  • The second save was a thing of beauty...the legs get the hands to the ball.

  • wow I was justt remember this game when I saw Keller in a sounders match, It was very exiting for those whom watched this match in live.

by the way does anyone know what happened whit steve sampson?

  • Wow people who say Sounders are the best need to stay quite....after they have played half of their games then see what they have done and if they did good then they're the best but they've only played 3 games.

  • Sooooo lucky

    It's his day

  • Romario shook his hand after being robbed yet again ... classy.

  • Seattle Sounders will run MLS!

  • naw... DC United will and always..

  • the answer is C-R-E-W!!!!

  • Ahh Admit it, Sounders are the best

  • Oswaldo Who? Ochoa who?

  • Yeah he's a good keeper

  • u mean "GREAT"..

  • Hes a good keeper. Now a days tho i see him do really great shit but then he'll do something retarded

  • 0:37 greg lalas # 22 and host of mls extra tim

  • sick

  • I agree that his positioning was good, and that was part of the reason for the 10 saves. However, I think you have to admit that finishing by Brazil was mediocre. Romario hesitated a little bit (on the shot that he had right in front of the goal) to try and get more control over the ball, however that allowed the defender and Keller to get back into position. Some of the other shots were just right down the center of the goal to the keeper and had nothing to do with Keller's good positioning.

  • WoW... What A Great Performance...

  • Yo! Cadams7 just remember this is Brazil there playing against, and keller just did the best he could. I understand what your talking about, being postion right, and stuff, but this was a fast pace game...and keller got so much respect for this game, and the us. so just saying man. he wasn't trying to do diving saves and acrobatic stops. thats the only way he could save those shots.....still i loved how keller played that day...GODbless america.

  • my inspiration.

    amazing =]

  • And two other things.

    1) Notice how Romario stops to SHAKE KELLER's HAND mid match.

    2) Look at the reaction of the Brazilian player after Keller's last save. That says it all

  • Romario said after the game:

"That's the best goalkeeping performance I've ever seen...it was an honor to be on the field with him tonight."

  • The USA has the fancyness of saying they've beaten one of the best Brazilian teams in history The 1998 team! I'am proudly born in the USA!

  • When is this from?

  • LOL I love the look on his face...."just another day at the office"...he seems to stay calm and collected

  • i like the way brazillians can talk really fast in the commentary

  • i think tim howard is better, but kellers pretty nasty, is this the only time U.S. beat brazil??

  • i like that tacke alexi lalas made around second 29

  • Kellers a Legend People

  • I'd have to agree with Cadams7 while never actually 'officially' played keeper in a season game i have played that position during practises and it amazes me every time how some people (like Keller) can make it look so easy...... cause it's not.

  • usa always produces great goal keepers, i liked brad friedel more because of the 2002 world cup.

  • dudee i loveee kasey:]

    i have hiss autographh.

    aww when he had hair:D

  • Romario called this the best goalkeeping performance he ever saw. That's good enough for me. The save diving off the ground against Romario and Preki's goal are two of the greatest plays in MNT history.

  • bigbrycm, even Romario said this was the best keeper he's ever faced.

  • kasey keller best usa goalkeeper? no chance

brad freidal and tim howard are both much better

  • I was there that night. One of the best USMNT memories. I remember waiting for the time to run out. It seem like forever. Totally AWESOME.

Though the number one memory was when I was in Suwon in 2002.

  • bigbrycm...I'm sorry but I have to adamantly disagree with you. That's a very uninformed stance to take in my opinion. Goalkeeping isn't about diving saves and acrobatic stops. It's about positioning, plain and simple. To me, a more impressive keeper is the one who is always in the right place at the right time, and makes it appear, as you state, that every shot was directly at him. Being in perfect position, having that instinct and awareness, is what made this such an amazing performance.

  • kudos, u know wut ur talkin a about

  • a good goalkeeper doesnt save shots, he prevents them

  • I agree that his positioning was good, and that was part of the reason for the 10 saves. However, I think you have to admit that finishing by Brazil was mediocre. Romario hesitated a little bit (on the shot that he had right in front of the goal) to try and get more control over the ball, however that allowed the defender and Keller to get back into position. Some of the other shots were just right down the center of the goal to the keeper and had nothing to do with Keller's good positioning.

  • Amen. Also being able to hold on to the ball in dicey situations is a lot harder than it looks.

I played gk in college and I know how hard it is to get one hand much less two hands to the ball, then to actually hold on to a hard shot.

IMO the save at 1:37, though it looks easy, was probably one the best because it was such a close richochet with little time to react.

  • Right. Thats what makes keepers like Buffon and Lehmann and Cech so great. and if they ever do every once in a while make a blunder *swoop* they've dove already. You have to admit though, much more interesting to watch someone make a diving save

  • go kasey go

  • wow that was so overrated. i saw at the most two good saves. the others were weak, i love the guy but anyone who has ever watched more than two minutes knows that this guy has done a whole lot better against better quality of players. even in 1998 he was still making saves and then booting the ball to the other team as seen in the last 10 seconds of this video.

  • yeah i noticed that, thats probably why he had as many shots at him

  • As an American, I love Kasey Keller! Howeever, recently ESPN soccernet named this performance as the best for the USA men's national team. While no doubt they were big big saves against Brazil in a game that mattered, most of the shots were hit right towards him and didn't have to move. Only about 2 of them were diving-stretching saves but the rest were because of poor finishing and placement of shots that Romario and Edmundo took.

  • Umm, please learn your football before you talk. The reason they were right at him is because he was so dead on that he got himself at the right place, they did not shoot at him directly. And 1/2 those saves were pretty damn ridiculous.

  • If it wasn't for keller, Romario would of had 1000 goals now!!! lol

  • LOL

  • That's true

  • no doubt...too bad keller is on to his club and is putting all energies toward that homie. go usa.

  • Kasey Keller really is the best goalkeeper the US has ever produced, and is among the best in the world. If Bob Bradley has any sense at all, he will keep Keller the USA's first choice keeper.

  • Have you seen Tim Howard play for his club? He is simply amazing, Tim definately deserves it over Keller, maybe not a year or two ago, even though Howard did win the EPL best keeper of the year, but he deserves it now.

  • With all due respect to both Keller, and you.. he is a bit over his peak.. Howard is just a better choice for the number one. But yeah, Keller is the best US goalie ever.
