  • hey, great vids!

i want to service my 66 RC3 2009, is there any guide on how to do that?

is it different from your "Marzocchi 66 RC Oil Change" video?

could you give me some tips and pointer on how to do it?

its going to be my first service :)

    thanks in advance :)

  • @5niran5 I've fully stripped my 2005 66 rc2x version ...and changed the seals. have a look through the other videos I posted, it's in there. Good luck, it's a very satisfying job to complete..."!

  • great video, thanks, my 55 tst2 forks make a real clunk when I lift the front wheel or olie, thinking of pulling them apart for the first time, have you got any ideas? is that likely to be the same problem you were having?

  • @parkemnz some of the forks with the lower specs do clunk and it appears you can;t do anything about it? I'd still give them a service as they are easy to pull apart and you know it's ok then....

  • Hi I your vid was really helpfull but I have a Q.

How much oil goes into the rebound cartridge which viscosity? In marzocchi´s page, it says thar 150ml in left leg and 10ml in right SAE 7,5. I dont think they are including the cartridge there.

    Thanks

  • @nohtog yes, marzocchi's page wasn't very helpful. I just filled the cartridge fully with 7.5 w fluid so it operated smoothly, with no gurgling.

  • Hey blumpher. Would you be able to comment on how to rebuild the ATA cartridge and TST cartridge? Specifically do I need to add some oil inside the ATA cartridge?

Great vid. Used it to rebuild my XC 700 fork. Almost exactly the same. Couple of minor differences but thanks so much!

  • @zsvara never seen those bits, unless it's the cartridge inside this one. I'd take it apart and see what's inside. Is the ATA cartridge travel adjust? sometimes these are air or just turn a preload device...On this fork I had to fill the cartridge up to the top with oil to get the damping nice and smooth throughout the travel.

  • @blumpher The ATA is the air spring (Actually my fork is the XC 700 only diff I see is the Micro TST and the location of the units i.e. ATA is on the right leg) and the TST is the oil damper you showed in this vid. You used oil for the damper was it 2.5wt? I want a real smooth compression do you think I could get away with 7.5wt?

    Cheers!

  • Hey blumpher. I took the plunge and opened up the TST. It's a bit more advanced than the TST from the XC 600. It's mainly the upper piston. Almost like a sealed chamber. The oil looked at a decent level but I added some 7.5wt to the 2.5wt anyway. It's like butter now.

    Cheers!

  • I love this guy

  • Whooaa!! I hope you don't mean that literally!

Just built a set of wheels for my dirt jump/park bike so keep an eye out for that video soon...

  • (He He) Your vid gave me the confidence to take appart a pair of 08 55ATA i bought off ebay, glad i did there was no oil in them, the ata cartridge was coverd in greese !! Also there's a marzocchi skull & xbones sticker on them,,,???

  • yes! that seems to be the main problem with the marzocchi's they just don't seem to have been lubricated when they were made in Taiwan. The quality of the components looks similar, but the anodising looks a bit thinner on the outside bits... Hope they run smoothly now? All the later ones i've done are like butter after servicing

  • Yea man, they'r sweet now, thats why i love you dude !! (he he)

  • hey, great vids. Im planning on servicing my 888RC3 (2008). They have always felt a bit stiff and not that great on the small bump sensitivity. Would you recommend me using 5wt oil so they feel a bit plusher? I weigh 10.5 stone. Many thanks, Andy

  • thanks !

5 weight oil will make a bit of a difference, especially if the forks haven't been serviced as you'llbe amazed how much difference fresh oil makes...the Marzocchi rep told me for best results you should change the oil after 10 hours riding the first time to flush out the running in wear particles. Havr you checked the sag? As you are that weight the springs might be too hard,or do you have the air version? let some air out so you get 25-30% sag when sitting on the bike .Good Luck!

  • thanks for your advice. I'll keep you posted on how I get on

  • hey man could you do a vid about oil change in dirt jumper 2 08?

  • I could, if I had one to service , but unfortunately I don't . Did one in the past and they are simpler inside than these so are even easier to do. ...

  • could you service my forks

  • no....!I'm in Wales. but why not have a go, take your time and take pictures/video so you know how it goes back together

  • what kind of grease do you use on your seals? just any grease or is it a specific kind, i'm going to rebuild my all mountain 2 today and would like to know for when i put it back together. thanks:)

or should i not put any grease on the seals because theres usually oil that goes on the stantions or would grease make it run any better? thanks again

  • I just used lithium grease, available form halfords etc. It's better to grease them as if the oil seals do their job, the oil stays in the fork...Good luck with your fork, it should be super plush after you've done it...
