Your argument is as old as time itself. Also, what were these reporters supposed to do? Were they equipped with all of the gear needed to help these dogs. Plus, what if they walked up on them. The one dog wouldn't their friend behind so he could've attacked them protecting the other dog. I am so glad to hear that both of these dogs were rescued and are now in homes. I am Japanese and would like to let you know that those poor doggies had been rescued right after the report. They were well treated by vet and recovered fortunately... and now they are living in Mito city in Ibaragi prefecture. Thank you for keeping your thoughtful eyes on them and Japan. It really means a lot.. 6 months after the earthquake, we have received tremendous supports from about 170 countries. Japanese people are truly thankful to your encouragements ◕‿◕

By that tsunami, tens of thousands of rescued doggies and other pets got separated from their owners. In order to make the meat "tastes better ", they are made to experience extreme fear and suffering while they are hanging and still alive. also, the industry black-market dog meat for restaurants at the Korean town in overseas. My cousin worked as a vet for nearly 20yrs, but last year was arrested on animal cruelty charges.
It turns out he unnecessarily put down potentially hundreds of animals over the years, diagnosing them terminally ill when in fact they were just suffering from minor, fully treatable ailments. He would give the owners nauseatingly ‘sympathetic’ talks about how lethal injection was “the best, kindest thing we can do”.
His reasons for doing this were unclear- he remained silent during his trial.

lol ....he wasn't " staying behind to comfort his friend!" He's just scared, and so hes sitting there with the only thing that looked familiar to him.
If these reporters had food on them, and gave him some, He would have ate it all, himself, and left with them, leaving the other dog alone. He doesn't give two shits about that other dog, just too scared to leave alone.

So people think that these dogs got rescued because somebody posted something on Facebook?? Really? I need proof. I agree that people can't just go around rescuing every creature in these chaotic situations. But, these people surely took their sweet time to record this footage and sell it to NHK, and then NHK used this footage to their advantage.
