  • okay i might not make sense...at 2:40-2:47,shouldn't you rather say that acidic products "reestablish" the natural curly pattern of your hair after the wash (since it brings back the natural pH of the hair and actually has no effect on it) while neutral products do have an effect on your hair: their less acidic pH make your hair assume a bushy look?

Anyway, i'd like toTHANK YOU for teaching me to use facts and reason rather than misconceptions and beliefs to take care of my hair!

    God bless!

  • can you tell me your ingredients to your shampo? are you selling your shampoo on your website?

  • This video saved me from relaxing. Thank you so much for your wonderful videos!

  • @MayChick567 wow think before write.

  • I wish people would look through video logs before they ask these questions!!!

  • Did you take the leave-in conditioner video down? For some reason I am having a difficult time finding it.

  • i'm confused :( i just want your hair!

  • This explains a world!!!..... i know u have the strips to test products, but is their another way to know the PH of a product? any websites?...

  • Watched your ph balancing videos. After washing/conditioning I mixed infusium moisture replenisher, castor oil, jojoba, coconut oil and aloe vera gel(have no juice) and OMG feels silky and shiny. I've been relaxer free since 2/10 and have cut my hair twice due to damage ends. I thank you for your videos it's helped me tremendously!!!! I love it!!!!! Thank you!!

  • i am afraid to ask because i'm not sure whether you've touched on this topic BUT (lol) do you use any products/butters/oils to seal in the moisture? or do you think it is counterproductive/pointless?

  • Kimmy, I need you desperately! I am transitioning to natural hair and hope that I can be a long term transitioner but I am having the hardest time with fairy knots and my hair tangling after I wash. I tried braiding my hair and took your advice of making sure all shed hair has been removed but my hair still ending up knotting like nobody's business. I don't know what to do, I am at my wit's end and don't want to experience more breakage. I already have bad breakage. I've always had this prob.

  • what do alkaline products do? i keep hearing of the benefit of baking soda rinses, what is the effect on shine and texture?

  • Hello Kim, is your product line out yet? I read in a previous video that it would be out by the end of the year and it's December and I haven't seen nor heard anything. Please let me know when the line will be out. Also I'm assuming a video will be sent out to subscribers when the product line comes out. Thanks, anxiously awaiting your product line.

  • please just make an E-book alreadyy!!! xD

  • wow, yr hair is beautiful!

  • Gr8 video, will start my journey with your leave-in for 3 months and will let you know the outcome.

  • Love your videos

  • sorry but i really think you're a sexy woman, and i luv to see a black woman going natural because thats where its all about keepig it real

  • wow! chock full of information! =) Thank you!

  • Shea moisture smoothie enhances my curls. You might have to buy certain products. Gel also enhances your curls like using eco styler gel with shea butter or something.

  • Went 2 ur site 4 shampoo didn't find any :-/ help!...TRACK

  • I've watched several of Kimmaytube's videos and I haven't seen where she states is she uses shampoo. Can someone help me please.

  • @Naturalbty29

Because I use my own shampoo. :o) You should use whatever shampoo you like best. I don't endorse or promote products of other companies.

  • @kimmaytube What is YOur workout hair routine or do u have a video on this. pleaseee respond!!!!!

  • @kimmaytube Thats one of the many things that i love about Kim is that she DOES NOT PROMOTE PRODUCTS OF OTHER COMPANIES...hopefully others will learn from you re FREE advertisement for these companies. At least get paiid if youre going to do it!!!

Thanks again Kim and congrats to you and your husband on the pregnancy.indeed 2012 is going to be HUGE for you.

    Loads of Blessings

    MsJS

ps cant wait to get some of your products hurry up already...lol!!!

  • im so confused so what do i use

  • @SophiaVIP she first used an acidic product that she won't mention the name of(she doesn't endorse) and then a neutral product (Shea butter and vegetable glycerin). Acidic products enhance your texture by making them fuller and curlier while neutral products keep you hair the same bushy texture. Hope that helps

  • so you are pretty amazing!

  • I love your videos

  • Hi Kim, I do hope you can help me, my sister has used Nano keratin on her hair and I just wondered how you felt about this product.? Or if anyone has any suggestions about the product I would be grateful

  • How do you check the ph levels of your products....? is it on the label

  • @Plaisir09 buy PH strips and test it that way SOME products will state its ph balance

  • @lovemuffin10101 thank you :)

  • @AKILAHTRAMMELL thanks, but i can see thather hair is naturally curly i meant the she said in her video that she uses a product that makes the end curl that is highly acidic i just wanted to know what that product was aloe vera gel or something else and @ VedreYaur thanks aswell

  • I can't keep up with that PH stuff--it's too difficult to follow, My ends don't curl--they are shaggy and my hair just never keeps moisture. Anyone feel me?

  • @VedrenYuar sounds like you have high porosity hair have you baggied your hair?

  • @lovemuffin10101 I've bagged, Thanks!

  • I see why kim gets so frustrated, i hav been watching her vids for over a year now...she answers all these questions...go to her page and start from her 1st video....u will see....p.s. It works! I got my six inches of hair growth....heading into my second year! Thx kim

  • @AKILAHTRAMMELL I understand that, but not everyone feels like watching 100 videos just to answer one question. When comments are posted with questions, that is for anyone with the answer to answer... not just the video poster. At least when I ask a question, I don't care who answers, as long as it's the right answer. And I don't feel like watching 100's of videos or even reading 1000's pf comments for the answer. But I understand your concern.

Good job with the 6inches. I'm not getting it.

  • @syntj--we dont say hair spray around here! Lol...j/k sit down one day and watch all of kims videos...she explains what she uses...kims hair is naturally curly...if u use her leave condish..ur hair will be at a ph of 4.5 to 5! No hair spray needed! I use essentious

  • what kind of product do you use to curl your hair with the high acid ,, is it just like hair spray or something else help please ?!

  • @syntj She's probably using her own leave in conditioner or just some product that is... as she says, "acidic" (whatever that means) LOL!

  • Thanks first of all for everything! I may be dumb founded. But how do you get your hair to the 7 ph and keep it moisturized. Meaning after you add your leave in. What exactly do you add to this to get to 7? I have watched the videos but interested in what product you use to achieve this.

  • I realize that in your video you don't mention products but recommend that we purchase strips to test pH balance. I am a woman on a budget and testing the pH bal on thing that I would like to try on my hair in the future will work to my advantage, but I was wondering what staple products you currently use that you found meet your criteria for a good pH balance.

  • Comment removed

  • Do you test the pH of products while you are in the store or after you have purchased the products?

  • I am amazed at your hair!

  • Amazing! Kimmytube, you are a like a black hair scientist! OMG! So happy I found you. Check out my channel, dmalikat. Let me know your thoughts on my hair type. Cheers! Keep it up girl!

  • nevermind about my question...i just rewatched the vid ;)

  • im confused...you said you use something acidic to seal in moisture..but later you say you try to maintain a neutral balance. So in the comparison which one was healthier the acidic or neutral ph?

  • IM CONFUSED

  • IM CONFUSED :(

  • How do you keep your ends from unravelling? When I do a twist out and sometimes a braid out, they always unravel. I don't want to use rubber bands because that will break off my hair. Help, please!!!

  • Wow. I was on Youtube the other day and came across your vids. I immediately wanted to try your leave-in recipe. I didn't have Aloe Vera juice, but I happened to have pure Aloe Vera. Well I did the recipe and my hair absolutely loved it; I was surprised my hair wasn't oily. I also used Olive oil and Wild Growth hair oil instead of castor oil and Jojoba oil. It definitely worked. :)

  • Wow!! This video is so informative. I've been natural for approx 4yrs now and I always wondered why my ends were "puffy" and what I could do about it. I will start to look for the pH levels from here on out. Can I find the pH levels on the back of my products?

  • does this work the same for everyone's hair or will each person have varying levels of pH that give different results?

  • Thank you for being so thorough and informative. I use your page as a reference guide all the time.

  • I appreciate this video so much. I recently moved out of the U.S. & I was worried about having 2 restart my hair regimen with all new products, because I wouldn't be able to purchase my usual products as easily or as cheap. But I started using this hair product which is Aloe Vera Oil and Wheat Germ Proteins and immediately upon putting it in my hair it curled up, such as yours did and I was able to compare the bushy part of my hair to the curl with the product. I don't know the PH, but I luv it

  • can you use Aussie Moist conditioner as a leave in?? can someone pleaaassseee answer .

  • @toniahandelmo777 I do and I have for about 3 years. I've been using it in I'm Kim's leave-in conditioner for several months.

  • @BuenaventuraAvenue oh ok . thanks for replying ! (:

  • @toniahandelmo777 Aussie Moist has a silicone in it. On her main page she says that the conditioner you use should be silicone free. Therefore the answer is no. I personally use the Aussie Moist as a good detangling conditioner BEFORE I shampoo. Because it does have cones in it, my shampoo must have Cocamidopropyl betaine in it which is a gentle cleansing present in most organic shampoos and it is an alternative to sulfates. KC Come Clean has it in there as well as Curls Cleansing Cream. :)

  • @toniahandelmo777 I then follow my shampoo with a rinse out conditioner (no cones) Either Giovanni's Smooth as Silk Deep Conditioner or Curls Coconut Curlada Conditioner (my favorite)! Hope this helps!

  • @lesgsu yes it does. thank you so much ! (:

  • Wow you're so knowledgeable!

  • i love how her hair is so long that she looks so bored while braiding the strand because i guess it takes a while!

your videos inspired me, thank you so much.

  • I wish I could "LOVE" this video...it has really helped me. Thanks, Kim.

  • WHAT TYPE OF SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER DO U USE????? PLEASE HELP ME.

  • Similarly, I spent many years clueless about how to maintain my natural hair -- often wondering why my hair growth remained stagnant (my last relaxer was in 1997). I've learned that this is because of my lack of knowledge about how to care for my hair. So now, I'm on a similar journey to achieve hair growth and to learn which styles work best for my hair. Though the abundance of info is overwhelming, I'm anxious and excited to see the results of this next chapter in my hair story!

  • AWESOME VIDEO!!!

  • kim i love your channel, im going off to college pretty soon (1st year) and i really dont want to straighten it all the time, so you've given me some GREAT ideas. but if i do choose to straighten sometimes can you make a video of how to moisturize straightened hair with out weighing it. please and thank you!

  • I cannot thank you enough Kim, once again you have answered my question with ease. Please keep doing all that you do

  • Hi Kim, I started using ACV, my hair feels and looks amazing. The only consend i have is that i am experience little breakage when combing my hair, especially the ends, even thou i think my hair has grown a little, since using ACV

  • @bbnne1 thanx for your help

  • This is so amazing!! I'm new at this..so I need advice, I have bought 100% pure jojoba oil and 100% pure coconut oil. How do I use them? can I use them direct or do I need to mix with something. Thanx for your time

  • Her hair is soooo pretty!

  • Hi. I would like to know how to know the ph balance of a product that is not a liquid? I ask because you mentioned in this video that all your products fall between a specific ph range. Please respond. Thank you!

  • *Kim Coles

  • Comment removed

  • Hey Kimmaytube! Kim Cole mentioned you in one of her youtube videos! She uses your leave-in in her regimen. :)

  • Comment removed

  • Kim @ 2:31 where you compare the two braids the neutral braid appears dryer than the acidic braid. Could you compare when both braids are both wet or both dry.

    Thanks

  • MIA for a good while......plz come back

  • how do i find 4.5-5.0 water?

  • @zmoreno71

Water has a natural neutral PH of 7. You'd have to add something to your water to bring it down to an acidic PH. You can try adding aloe vera juice or a dash of apple cider vinegar to water to make it acidic.

  • I don't know if you know this but Kim Coles (living single, in living color-we're old enough right?) mentioned you on her natural hair video. If you already knew then I'm just late then:)

  • amazing! and I love your voice!

  • Can you use your leave in once a week as a deep conditioner under weave?

  • Have you done a video on your exercise routine and your hair yet?

  • Hi Kimmay, I've really been enjoying your videos and all of the information. I saw your Corinne Bailey Rae style 2 years ago, but have since been preggers and had a baby, so imagine my surprise when I saw your newest videos and how your hair has flourished. I do have a question, however, I cannot find the video where you demo the ph balanced conditioner? Is it still up? I see the recipe, just also wanted to see the video from you. Keep up the good work. simicss

  • i'm brand new and so glad i found this channel. its very informative. most of the "natural" salons in upstate SC are braiders that pull so hard it makes my head hurt.

I would like to know if you wet your hair everyday or is there a nightly routine you prefer?

  • I'm 7 months into my transition and I look forward to long & healthy PH balanced hair... especially after these two textures become one :)

  • Kim, I am so confused. Can you please help with what is an acidic product? Do you leave in or wash it out. Thanks.

  • I love your videos Kim. You should make a PH Balanced product line. I would purchase it.

  • i'm confused as well....with respect to the comparisons an the products used.

  • Hey Kim,

Will you ever make your financial advice videos public again? I am a college student who cherishes them!

  • @brownieblush Yes that would be great! I didnt know she even had those!

  • Thanks sooo much 4 all the time and effort u put in the work:).I love ur leave in.

  • Hey guys, check out my videos on dry hair remedies! go to my channel: jasminebard

  • I do not understand the comparison. The acidic product makes the hair (more?) springy and curly? The nuetral makes it puffy. I don't understand the comparison between the style in twists vs the braid out. if used nuetral products with twists, would twists be stretched and not as springy?

  • I love your leave in recipe. I use fresh aloe vera that I grow. The PH of the aloe vera juice freshly made is 5.0, you mentioned you didn't know it in the video

  • Hey Kim, do you still finger detangle or use a comb to detangle your hair for stretching? Thanks for the video, its good to know why our hair responds the way it does to different products...

  • Just wanted to say thank you for what your doing. And the recommendations you give on what to read and gain knowledge for "your" own personal journey is great. To all your subscribers PLEASE just pick up one of the books kimmaytube suggest. Although I am glad you give tutorial on growing, and caring for your hair, everyone need to taylor a regimen for themselves and the books you suggest does just that..... Plus I love science so anything that incorporates the subject grabs my attention. Thanks

  • Thanks girl im going to buy some strips off of your site asap because those are some good tips!!!! Thanks again!! :D

  • what conditioners do you use for the leave in. i love kinky curly. also, what shampoo do you use now. i also use sheer butter and olive oil to stretch. is the acidic hair with the leave and the neutral without?

  • Thanks Kim! These are some great pointers as usual. Big Fan! ;)

  • This is awesome information! Thanks so much Kimmay! Keep doing what you're doing because you are blessing so many people who are still learning about their hair especially people like me who haven't been natural all their lives ^_^

  • Great video! I always appreciate the education you provide. This was an "ah ha" moment for me, thank you!

  • Thanks that was very helpful.

  • What PH level is your shampoo and conditioner? Is it best to keep them at a 4.5PH? Both my conditoner and shampoo are a 7PH.

  • @lakialael You didn't ask, but I think I can help. A shampoo and conditioner at a PH of 7 is fine. It's the leave-in that you will want to be 4.5-5.5. But like Kimmay, my hair responds to a PH of 4 on WET hair. Hope that helps.

  • Hi Kimmay. I have a questions. By hair has been breaking even though I've been moisturizing and sealing moisture in and doing everything I've learned on your channel to retain length. I'm thinking I may need more protein in my hair. Would you recommend the Aphogee Two-Step protein treatment? (if you've heard of it)

  • Thanks so much for continuously schooling us on pH balance. It's made all the difference in managing my hair. I bought the strips from your site and use them whenever mixing up a leave-in cocktail or trying out a new product to ensure a proper pH. I even appropriated this info for my dogs. I own two Westies who were suffering from dry skin and coat, in spite of a stellar diet. Making sure the grooming products I use on them stays between 6.5 and 7.5 makes their coats soft, shiny, and shed-free.

  • I've been trying my best to find out, how many parts water to apple cider do you use to clarify and bring hair to a normal ph

  • @rabbott3253 If you go back to her ACV/PH balancing video there are measurements that in the experiment she does with how much water to put to acv to achieve a balanced ph for your hair. I suggest you backtrack it.

  • Wish I saw this video before. I'm natural and have bushy ends, and I had the same problem when I had a perm. I would just cut them off like I did 2 days ago (cut off 3 in). Cutting the ends off doesn't show the growth, so I'm usually frustrated with my hair. I heard about the Apple Cider Vinegar a few days ago. I'm looking forward to retaining length now that I'm learning more about caring for my hair. Thanks for this channel Kimmaytube, I'm learning so much and sharing with everyone.

  • I FINALLY UNDERSTAND! Thank you so much :-)

  • your videos are great! I'm transitioning right now and learning about ph balance products. What shampoos do you use or what homemade ph balance shampoos/conditioners to you use?

  • Question. I relax my hair. Wondering if I should use an apple cider vinegar mix on my ends to prevent overlapping.

  • phew... i was tryna find you page for like 10min now lol... i had i tought of brilliance and typed in ph lvl hair...i figured there wouldn't be many other vidz on yt about it

  • 31 people are blind to science and facts.

  • @JadedeaJade Haha, now THAT's a handicap :)

  • Hey love all of ur videos im really trying to grow my short hair i cut all the perm out of my hair.So i want to ask you what did you use to get ur hair growing i have tryed everthing .And since i found ur page im very happy do you have a book that i could buy to get me started

  • My dry hair problem has been solved! Aloe vera juice and PH test strips have become my best friends since subscribing to your channel! Love your videos and your way of presenting information! You WILL become the renowned natural hair guru you aspire to be! Keep up the good work!

  • I've watched this vid a couple of times now! Your hair has a nice sheen to it. Can't wait to see your new wash routine (I think the others have been taken down). Are you saving this info for your DVD? Do you also mind me asking why you removed the leave-in recipe vid as well?It was a great source of info and still popular in other people's vids but I'm sure you had your reasons for doing so!:)

  • @kimmaytube which ph balance is better? when i stretch out my hair it seem like its dry. im kinda confused on what ph should i stay with and why? i see you said your hair is moisturized even at neutral although it looks dry, like mine. im trying to get a regimen for myself but want to do it right!

  • amazing! absolutley amazing!

  • Is it better to use warm or cold water as a moisturizer for my hair?

  • One last thing! Where/How can I purchase a copy of that drawing you created? I NEED one! :o)

  • Hi Kim. I love your channels and I am learning so much. Thank you so much. Also, I just read the following in an article about summer tips for curly hair. What's your take ? "5. Cool Products - Refrigerate conditioners and stylers for a refreshing wash and wear. It will encourage your cuticle to close and your scalp will love you for giving it a cool shot on a hot day. Use products with a pH that’s more on the acidic side to help cuticles stay closed."

  • Hi Kim how are you? I have a question for you, when your hair was shorter, but before your hair reached shoulder length what kind of protective styling did you do if any? My hair is about earlobe length and most of the protective styling I've seen were rod sets. Which I think is too manipulative to be done on a regular basis especially when you sweat a lot.

  • @missdaniciahumphrey ok never mind Kim I found the answer.

  • I have low porosity hair, and it seems as if using acidic products to help keep my cuticle closed is only contributing to dryness. Isn't it true that low porosity hair is somewhat "naturally" sealed already? I ask this because I've experimented with pH control and for some reason it seems to me that fighting the natural "shut" of my cuticle keeps my hair more moisturized - ie, it receives and holds product better. I guess what I'm asking is, does pH control apply more to high porosity hair?

  • @befashionista09 As a fellow low porosity chica, I find that pH balancing is still muy importante. I have done the water test, and my hair will sit on top of the water all day. I use products that are between 5.0 and 5.5 and then I still add a watery leave in and seal with shea butter, my hair is moisturised and not greasy. If I rinse and seal, leaving out the acidic step, my hair will feel dry in a matter of hours. Like my relaxers would sit for an hour at the salon, resistant hair...smh

  • Hey love your videos! I decided that I am going to try your leave in recipe. But for some reason I cannot find your exact video of how you formulated your mixture. Everyone else has your recipe on youtube but they added or removed a few things. Is it possible to tell me the recipe with the measurements or maybe just uploading it again on youtube. Thankyou so much :)

  • Very pretty. I wish I could do my natural hair like this.

  • My hair does the same thing! Now I know why my hair frizzies like that sometimes and sometimes it doesn't! Do you know if different parts of your hair respond to different Ph levels?

  • I've watched all your PH videos and love the info you've shared. But I need more help with stretching my hair. My hair is a little (just a little than your Aug. '09 pics) shorter and I'd like more vids or a book even on how to stretch my hair. Why not a video book?

  • your hair looks beautiful.

  • Awesome! Your ph lessons have impacted my hair greatly :) Love the results on my protective styles and braid outs - my colleagues and friends are amazed when I wear my hair out.

  • WOnderful !! Thanks so much my hair is longer and healthy because of your videos...!

  • Amazing video.

  • Well, I must say that was enlightening. I've been sending a lot of curlies to you from work. I enjoy other vids, but you tell me exactly what to do, how it works and why. that was absolutely great information. I'm gonna go buy some strips. (you told us about them before, but I never understood how they would help me.)

  • How do I find out what ph balance is good for my type of hair?? I'm like a 4c

  • @kimmaytube - every time I click on your "leave in Conditioner" video it keeps saying "This video is private. Sorry" Are you ever going to re-do a video about what all you use? And how to make the leave-in conditioner?

  • First and foremost I would like to thank u for taking the time to do what u do for us, we as AA women. I always wondered why my ends in the front of my hair were so bushy, but after using they leave-in mix just ONE time my hair was instantly better. Instead of using knot today I use WEN. But continue to strive for execellent, and continue to be u no matter what!!!

  • Explained well! I love your simple approach to hair care. I had already observed this about my hair... but I didn't quite know the science behind it! Also a tip that works for me... if I want stretched out curls I use your leave-in recipe and then add a little pomade (oyin - burnt sugar) or hair butter (kbb - butter love) to set each twist/braid.

  • As a black man, I am proud to see black women rocking the natural beauty God gave them with pride and understanding. Black hair is something others wish they had and its versatility can't be matched.

You keep reppin' for the ladies and do i'll what I can for the dudes...

    You're killin it KL.

  • @gilly5528 I am glad to :)

  • you are the best!

  • lol at the rhyming and Dr.Seuss...but I liked it!

  • Mrs. Luv; I love you. You are the EF Hutton of natural hair. When you speak I listen and I do almost everything you've done (as our textures are similar) and my hair has so improved. You've solved a huge problem for me and I will be getting ph strips to keep my ends on point.

  • Would you be willing to share with us your favorite products?

  • Can this work the same with relaxed hair?

    Very good video .

  • Hi Kim when I wear a braid out I saturate my hair with aloe vera juice then use ICE olive oil serum and apply librarly then braid and let it air dry. The results are great but I would like to know if you think the order inwich I apply the products are ok?

  • informative vid!

  • Kudos to you!! thank you for this video. This solves my bushy end problem.

  • Hi Kimmy, thanks for the video this helped my daughter. My hair stays twisted, but my daughter's hair is down. She has back length hair and she was getting a little subconscious about having big hair. She just saw your video and says she wants her hair like yours with the flower in it. Thank you for the tips and for show casing your hair.

  • i was wondering if you would talk about porosity also kt...is it tied into ph? I have had a bigger aha moment with porosity than with ph....

  • AHHH!! Made a lot of sense Kim!! Thanks! Been wondering what's up with my busy ends!!!

  • So the only products you used in this video were your veggie glycerin mix and shea butter??

  • THANKS FOR THE GREAT INFO!

  • Gosh-o-mighty Kim! I am not into chicks but I could kiss you right now. I've been natural 20 plus yrs.I've had everything from twa to dreads down my backside but this PH stuff is on a whole other level. For a year and half I stopped using apple cider vinegar b/c I thought it was 2 acidic. I know u did the same and about 3months ago I had a lot of product in my hair and used the AV again. I noticed my hair "acted better" but din't put it together until now. Protein conds. eat my hair up BUT

  • the Apple Cider Vinegar wash right after my shampoo with conditioner rinse out ALWAYs works out so much better. ( In terms of smoothing out my ends) You have FINALLY solved my bushy end puzzle. I couldn't figure out for the life of me why the ends of my hair were so hit and miss. Sis you dun Oprahed me with my light bulb moment. Gosh a sistah could go crazy just tryin to grow and maintain a well coiffed lid. Now write the book and make the DVD already. I know you tap dancing as fast as you can.

  • @mediamamachick

YAY!! Another bushy end problem solved. :o)

yes, I am tap dancing. ballet plies, everything! It such a busy time and it is going to fly by.

I'm SO SO excited about what we have going on behind the scenes for you all.

Please be patient with me. It will be worth the wait.

  • I've taken to using water mixed with a little apple cider vinegar and veggie glycerin. It feels okay but still experimenting. Do you think this is a good technique?

  • Thanks Kimmay
