people forget that when the bluegrass style began to be called bluegrass was during the time when country stopped being the country that everyone knew and went more down the mainstream Ralph II is stickin to the roots of old country and playin the old style i think "clinch mountain country " should be the genre in old tyme country music
My family and I had the pleasure of seeing Ralph Stanley II live just last night here in Georgia. He and his band were great. I got the chance to speak with him and he autographed a CD for me. Seemed like a real good guy. I agree he has his own sound and doesn't seem to be trying to imitate his famous family. Wouldn't blame him if he did though. I look forward to more from "Two" and I recommend his work to anyone who enjoys something real and real good.
Ralph II is a genuine artist and person as is his style of music. If he sounds like someone else, his critics say he is trying to imitate another artist, and if he doesn't sound enough like someone else, they point that out, so this critique is irrational at best. His latest cd rated no 1 as well as one of the songs from it, so I think that speaks for his music and for the fans who value it as much as I do.
He sounds like Keith, who in turn sounds like Lefty, who sounds like Hank. They are influenced by their hero's but do it their own way. I think this is great music an is a testament to what country music should be.
I agree with Cherrie, There really is no reason to be so negative. I myself have heard Ralph sing and i think he's a wonderful singer. He's a very intelligent and talented guy.
Why must you be so negative, Ralph Stanley II is a great talent. he is a very nice and down to earth guy. Keith is one of his main influences. Ralph isnt trying to sound like Keith. Ralph wrote this song with some
great influences in mind, Jones, Whitley, and alot of other great country singers. Driving a truck isnt his second calling!
Doesn't matter if he does or does Not sound like Keith. Fact is, that he is a great singer and performer. I wonder why his album was #1 on the BU charts and his song went to #1 on the bluegrass charts? Evidentally he has a lot of fans. Or maybe you didn't know that?
2 's new album is the best he has done. i followed his career since the begininng and this is the best songs ever. carter and LA county are so well just himself it sounds like i knew he would eventually.
great song from a great CD! I've been trying for weeks to find the lyrics to Carter, but can't find them anywhere. Glad to see something from Two on youtube.

@dogsee1 Maybe driving a truck has messed your hearing up. I'm not sayin he's the best singer out there, but you sure can hear the Whitley influence.

I am so proud of Ralph II for doing his
own thing with this CD, and for staying
true to his Dad's music at the same time.
