The UNFUNDED liability was at 180 Billion in 2007 and the 42 Billion in trust was to keep that unfunded liability at 180 Billion.
The longer it goes UNFUNDED, the bigger it gets, the bigger it gets, the less money we have to spend on fixing or funding new projects in the future.

I always used to watch Parliament Question Time every time i could it was around the time of this video and Kevin Rudd would ALWAYS turn his back to the Liberal bench, he pretended to talk and look through paperwork.

The Howard Government was governing the country though an economic boom. And yes he did let the money sit there and didn't use it to improve infrastructure and such however is he did spend the money it would have resulted in a massive injection into the circular flow and could have potentially increased inflation. You can argue both points.

Kevin Rudd has experienced some difficulties but his achievements far outnumber his failures (e.g. saying sorry, Climate Change, Ratifying Kyoto, solutions for the economic crisis, funding to help people with depression and alcoholics and tackling homelessness. John Howard also had his achievements and his difficulties. Saying that he is leading Australia to nowhere is completely unreasonble and to say he is incompetent is unjustified and unfounded.

Saying sorry can hardly be considered an achievement. He hasn't done anything to actually tackle climate change, merely pulled a few little publicity stunts that make some people believe he's trying to do something about it. The Kyoto protocol is practically a joke and ratifying it doesn't actually change anything, and so also cannot be considered an achievement... Oh and a solution for the economic crisis that is simply "throw money at the issue and hope for the best". Charming ;)

The 2007 Australian Federal Election sadly was a win for Communism over Capitalism. Our strong alliance with the USA has been totally destroyed. The Labor Party's so called 'Education Revolution' is to teach our kids to be forced to believe in Communism and be forced to learn Chinese.
