  • Hmmmm can't say I'm a River fan....still a little bit stuck back with Rose....but I must say this episode has CLASS. I love the whole thing with Donna and Cal, and Miss Evangelista. So trippy!!! and the Vashta Nerada are CREEPY :O

  • shame after every adventre, she would go and ssee her mom, amy, hw is the furtre doctor going to tell her that??? poor amy, poor river never getting to see her mom again

  • @LightDarkNinja Kinda hard to explain... if you had a timeline of events, the doctor is going one way while River is going the other. First time the doctor sees river, she dies vise versa i think...

  • and River could certainly be reacquired, but it seems unlikely that they would plot that in.

  • waitwaotwaitwait so.... doc who and river song are the same life...but opposite timelines?

  • @LightDarkNinja Not quite

  • @pireninja well then what?

  • @LightDarkNinja Their timelines are not opposite, just disorganised.

  • @pireninja i don't get it

  • @LightDarkNinja River is kind of a timelord herself, and she's just doing everything the Doctor does, but in reverse. I hope that helps. River is surrounded with wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff.

  • @limelivi she is part timelord

  • @natman49 River is not part Timelord, she is a human concieved and developed inside the TARDIS. Hence, the abilities she has. But strictly speaking, there is not a drop of timelord blood.

  • The whole image of the Doctor just opening the Tardis with a single snap is just sublime. Epic. Grand.

    Thats how it should be.

  • @Porly62 Grand indeed. It's kind of like a coming of age after passing a crucial test. This kind of ending inspires one to be a Hero and save an incredible woman.

  • At the end I was Like HEY WHO TURNED OUT THE LIGHTS?

  • 1:39 :Timelord children????

  • she just left her childeren in the shadows... D:

  • Blimey! Triplets! Whoose their dad??

  • so Riversong at the end was with the Doctor. thats sad and sweet.....

  • "Doctor Who level-up" - *Gained ability to open TARDIS with a finger snap*

  • @Rahhelthethird you just earned 1 awesomepoint! congratulation!

    heres a cookie

  • So are theese kids Amy and Rory's grandchildren?

  • @mykoko96 No they are just the data core's of the same boy and girl but the individual adult sees them differently in perspective.

  • @mykoko96 In a broken digitalised way, yes.

  • RIVER SONG IS AMY PONDS DAUGHTER....oops Spoilers.

  • @mikeNgary Not much of a spoiler since you're two weeks late... Oops

  • river is amys little gril

  • So now we know who she is, makes you wonder WHO's kids they are at the end..

  • @KhanOmizu CAT is Mr. Lux's aunt, as was explained. The two artificial kids were probably created by the doctor moon to keep CAT company; companions her age to go on the adventures she has through the limitless worlds of adventure The Library holds for her (and all of us).

  • @KhanOmizu Nobody's :) Maybe a virtual Doctor's

  • Can't they be redownloaded?

  • @muffin8or Presumably it transmats the bodies or something like it did to Donna in the TARDIS while it saved her consciousness - and their bodies are dead.

  • @omglolatm

So, make a new brain and put theconsciousness in there. Or make a robot. Anything is possible inthe TV show that brings back the master from the dead over and over.

It's just sad to see River die, knowing what we know about her.

  • @muffin8or well thats what they did with everyone else so the question is if they will do that in the future? we will just have to wait and see what happens

  • @muffin8or The original people CAL saved by trying to transport them, so their bodies could be reintegrated from the transporter (very Star Treck-esque). CAL herself had been dying which is why they originally wired her in. River's friends were killed by the shadow things so they have no bodies. And River's body/heart were burned out using her "memory" to help CAL reassemble the bodies of the original people CAL "saved". But, perhaps at some point they'll figure out a way. Androids, maybe??

  • Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead are great touching episodes, and only become bittersweet after hearing what River tells Rory in The Impossible Astronaut. Between us knowing what happens and her knowing it will happen is just makes my heart cry...

  • @orangeapples

which line did you have in mind?

  • Like that, he can go from looking 900+ to a 12 year old boy

  • Simply a beautiful episode.

  • Lord... I love this show. To me, it's the greatest show ever - bar none. Love *all* of the personas. Love the idea that we're seeing differenet personalities of the same being. Awesome.

Love that in the end, Doctor Who is a show that can go anywhere in space and time and be about anything. That's just awesome stuff.

  • this was great episode! BUT I´m soooo confused!! How can she recognize the Doctor saying " You´re so much younger than I´ve ever seen you before" when he never gets old?? I mean he regenerates and changes his entire looks every 4th years or so?! and what did he mean by when he said something like (couldn´t quite hear it) " There´s only one way someone could know my name" or maybe he said "There´s only one person that could know my name"..blabla, I AM EXTREMELY CONFUSED, please help!

  • @Micromusecut haha in the next season she tells either Amy or the 11th doctor that she has a record of ALL his faces XD, just that they keep meeting in the wrong order, and he said there's only one way someone could know his name... the answer to that is: by marrying him, the vicar has to say his name in the 'do you _____ take this woman' moment (so that means a vicar in some area is privy to that knowledge as well XD)

  • @Micromusecut His eyes. his eyes looked older. xx

  • @martha368 huh??? is that an answer to my question?

  • Comment removed

  • Good Evening from California, ppl. Finally, I found another episode to rival " Girl in the Fireplace. " Boy, oh Boy. This one was good. The Ending was idealistic and romantic !

A lil something to balance out the bleek loneliness from other endings. My bet is she is his future ( wife. ) Anyone concur? she made romantic connotations about the future with him as if to say they ( become ) an item in the future. Nuff said.

  • the front of her journal looks like the doors of the tardis......especially awesome when you think how the journal holds the life of the doctor, and so does the tardis......

  • @afterlifeismine Excellent attention to detail. You should be a detective. I mean it. thank you.

  • @FMAStudent or a companion :)

  • @afterlifeismine That is a truly poetic thought... I couldn't agree more.

  • @quietbynature thank you

  • So she was his mother?

    huh?

  • "Everybody Lives."

That's the same thing the doctor says at the end of The Doctor Dances, the second part of another really scary double.

  • Where did those kids at the end come from? Did River just move on? Had some kids with a new guy? Forgot about the Doctor? That doesn't really sound right to me

  • @Humlieisded The three kids are the standard two kids from the computer program (Donna's "children") as well as CAL. The firs two kids might have been CAL's friends or siblings in reality- who knows? All we're told is that the Doctor has fixed the system so that the program is now a "nice place" and that the children, CAL, River, and the members of River's crew that were killed are all living in the program now.

  • @SakuraX7 Yeah I just picked up on who the 3rd child is too, and I have seen this episode a number of times. This and Silence of the Library are the 2 best episodes of series 4.

  • @Humlieisded Actually, I was totally wondering that too. Originally it didn't bother me but now that we know a little bit more about River it doesn't quite fit.

  • I cry. I always cry. This is the best written episode of all of them.

  • could someone explain what happened in the end i taught they all died

  • @brightstarplay they died physically, but were save in a digital fashion

  • What happened to the vashdanarada? they just got left there to eat more people? Would suck to go to that library lol.

  • @andysim232

I think its the Vashdanarada's library now. That was the 24 hour deal--they had 24 hours to clear out and abandon it. Presumably there the planet will be marked at hazardous on star-charts. The moon otoh....

  • @jennyinthepark

You ar correct, The Vashdanarada looked up the doctor, since the doctor is a timelord, the Vashdanarada saw all of the doctors doings up to the point of the time this episode takes place, due to this, they gave him 24 hours, they knew they could not be stopped but they also knew of the Doctors vengeance on those who killed their friends. The planet was branded hazardous by the only surviving expedition member. The Vashdanarada now live their in peace without trespassers.

  • @Neeju1 that's a fairly assumptious summary , the point of his threat, knowledgle aside, is left to the inference of his reputation rather than a direct threat...

  • He thinks hes the king with the door open.

  • "Just this once, everybody lives!!"

Also, uuuuuhg, Hate River. Can't believe he did that snapping thing. XP

  • @aeidla

Well then, you should have mixed feelings about Series 5 then. On the one hand, The Doctor snaps to open the TARDIS door to let Amy in for the first time. On the other, we find out that River was put in the Storm Cage for killing a man, a man who was a hero to millions, the best man she ever knew. Then again, no other companion of The Doctor's has made Dalek fear, River did it. Why? Because it knew what she was capable of.

  • @aeidla Why? Why can't "the character" of the Doctor not progress? Do you honestly believe that "the character" of the Doctor should always remain static? I don't get this line of thinking. Without character progress, you would have never had regeneration, sonic screwdriver, etc. etc. This is why Doctor Who continues on. The show continues to evolve.

As for River? Sorry you don't like her, but to me she's is *truly* one of the best Who characters in a *very* long time.

  • @w00master

River Song is brilliant. Check out my channel. :-D

Though rewatching this episode, she's a little too blissed out looking at the end. It fits the episode with one viewing, but wears after the 7th. I don't care how wonderful your psuedo after life is, you're not going to talk and dress that dramatically EVERY day. ;-P

  • @w00master it's taken 8 months for me to reach a point where i agree with you that river is amazing

  • omfg- i cried so much!

  • Proffesor song is stupid boecause as soon as she goes to get her children up they will be gone :O

  • So wait a minute. It's implied that at some point, River and the Doctor get married. So...who is the father of her children in the "virtual world?" Or was it one of those things like Donna, where when Donna "knew" that her children weren't real, they didn't exist? So in this "perfect" world, River can "create" her family just by thinking them into existence? Or do they require a biological father and if so we're back to square one, who's da daddy?

  • @cainster . do you mean they will dissapear? (read message below)

  • @cainster I actually have a theory that river is his mum since it was mentioned that his mom was human previously. And I think that's the reason three beds are shown, it's symbolism.

  • @WonderfulAkari no the white woman at the end of time was

  • @WonderfulAkari

I have a different theory. Mine is that in a way, yes, River is his wife. But my theory hinges on The Doctor being The Other reloomed. The Other, and by extension The Doctor as well, had a wife by the name of Patience. Funny thing is that her previous husband was Omega. If my theory is right, the game changer mid-Series next year may very well be the return of Omega. Also, didn't The Doctor say that there was only one time he could TELL someone his name? His mum would know.

  • *Deleted scene after the doors close*

Donna: Thank god, that's the eleventh time you've tried that! NOW can we leave?!

    XD Ta for uploading.

  • honestly love these episodes, shame series 5 was nowhere near up to the quality of the first 4 :/

  • This scene really defined the doctor and was the apex moment of Tennant's doctor. Great job Steven Moffat! Please make series two better this time!

  • Afro Dave...Anita....Other Dave...and Evangelista....!

  • @joel1975

But wasnt "Afro dave" refered to as "other dave" in this episode to which the doctor replied "he isnt coming"?

  • Thank you so much, Drwhobaddalek28 for posting these! You have made it possible for me to see all the new Dr. Who episodes, and become the fan that I am! I owe you so much! Thank you! :)

  • Great episode. One of the really good ones. :)

  • if river songs children arnt real, thats not really a happy ending! But it would be funny if the children got killed by the (vash-dan-a-rada?) when she turned out the lights!

  • one of the best, but the angel episodes rule over all

  • Steven Moffat, I love you for writing this episode. You always write the best.

  • they fixed her face. LOL.

  • is this the first riversong episode?

  • I love this episode. A lovely ending. 'Sweet dreams!'

  • Why? Why would I do that? Why would I give her my screw driver?

    *click*

    Oh... I'M VERY GOOD!!!!

  • rivers book has the shape and pattern as the doctors tardis

  • i know the Doctor's real name

  • @ascbay David Tennant

  • i know the Doctor's real name

  • I want Matt Smith's Doctor to suddenly remember that he learned about the snap. That kind of cocky gesture would fit right into his swagger.

  • @gomarili

He did, but I don't remember which episode it was. Possibly the Eleventh Hour.

I just remember that when I saw it, I shrieked with delight.

  • @ashesofbalderdash He did it at the end of Eleventh Hour, showing off for Amy.

  • It was this ending that made David Tennant my Doctor ^_^ Such an amazing way to end this two-parter.

  • He had to try the fingersnap trick didn't he? lol! HE DA DOCTA!! YEA!!

  • When I heard her say, "everybody lives," it made me think of Eccleston's Doctor saying that with all the joy in the world. Made me tear up. :)

  • @elangworthy oooooooooo...I miss Eccleston when he said that! with such pure unadulterated joy!

  • @elangworthy Wasn't that supposed to be a callback? God, I loved that ending too!

  • wow very moving ending. these "new" Doctor Who story writers are wizards. They mix past, present and future witch such ease that they make it look simple :)

  • this story made me cry :)

  • 0:22 - 1:06 one of my favourite Who moments

  • That was a CREEPY double episode O_o

  • When isaid saom I meant that river lass lol

  • Can't wait wait for the doctor to me salom or however you spell her name for the first time. I mean not this time the time in the future when she first meets him for the first time but not in this time next time after time lol it going to be cool hope matt smith meets her

  • @MadMatt798 - its River Song. amd Matt Smith shall meet her. it was in the trailer- only she has blonde hair and dodgy shades.

  • Adorable little TARDIS journal.

  • It must suck to be black in that world. Your children would all be white no matter what. Talk about creepy.

  • I love his smile.

  • "Some days are so blessed, some days everybody lives"

What sort of stories does she NORMALLY tell those children? O.o

  • One of the very best episodes ever!

  • the magic snap

  • I dunno if I'd want to be hooked up to a super computer for all eternity. How depressing would that be?

  • i agree

  • I'm sorry to tell you this....but you are.

  • Uh-oh.

  • Yeah i thought so too, i would eventually gone mad and just wished i was really death

  • You wouldn't ever get bored OR die - the episode would just end.

  • Same here, I wouldn't want to be there forever. Everything dies, even galaxies, that's the way it is. Not being able to die? The worst thing that can happen.

  • @Tardisaholic01 Oooh, I hadn't thought of that. I always thought it was annoying having to find a new video every two minutes but I suppose if they filter out copyrighted stuff by length, it's a pretty good idea for getting past the radar. Nice one, Drwhobaddalek28!

  • I love it when he snaps his fingers and the doors open! Brilliant!

  • I didn't get the end. what was that "I'l give you your forests" about? And what did the doctor do to Evelina? Saved her? gave her a dreamlife? What for? To mislead himself? Or is he going to get her out afterwards?

  • the doctor made a deal with the vashta nerada so that they gave doctor 1 day to get everyone out of the library and they get they forests( the books in the library were their forests) back

and by evalina i take it you mean proffessor song

the light in the sonic screwdriver that future doctor gave river song was a neural relay and she was ghosting so the doctor uploaded her in to the data core rather than have her die

  • Ok, now I got it. Thanks!

  • Why no trailer? Why cut it out there?

and why not in widescreen or HD? and why not just 4 ten minutes scenes and a five minute scene?

  • if im right if they upload the show as ten minute scenes most of the time youtube will delete them from the site. as for the rest of your questions, i havent got a clue

  • stop moaning

  • @norbit87 Less likely for youtube to pick up and delete a 'scene' than parts I'm guessing.
