  • The Gt-R set a new time record for itself on the nurburgring. It ran 7'24'22 on wet conditions. You know what that means? Your ZR1 Can SUCK MY BALLS!

  • Japan is too awesome. I remember seeing a total of 15 of these during my stay in that Country, followed by 1 modified C6Z06. Kinda ironic because in Japan they really do like American sports cars like the Corvette, but in here we have people raving over the GTR. Polar opposites I tell you xD !

  • 7:25 was the spec v trial run at nurburgring. its funny how the corvette used to be the king of the dragstrip now its focused on this one track and whos faster compared to the standard gtr its 4 tenths faster which is a complete let down to all corvette fans, and this new spec v has recorded 7:25 time at nurburgring which beats the zr1 time by a second and a half. now off that track corvettes are an emabrrassment at the track against gtr. without slick they sit there and spin.

  • It would be interesting to see what Kinoshita would say in comparison with the Spec V and LFA in lap speed around the Nurburgring as he has obviously driven both cars to the limit around there I would definitely be interested to see if there where any feedback from him on both cars with regards to lap speed.

  • @fabglein just means the gtr got lucky? tarmac stages are unpredictable, and gtr's have been prov'in to be highly unreliable.

  • One lap of America- heard of it? - racetracks, real world roads, tarmac etc - Corvettes dont even get a mention after day 2 of these events as they are so far behind (really only Porsche Gt2 and GTR's have a chance). Thats in YOUR country!

    To say GTR's got lucky and are unreliable, yet conceed that they dominate EVERY type of tarmac, racetrack type event in One lap of America is confusing

  • sorry but gtr's do not dominate anything, so the car won a couple of small time races big deal, what does that prove nothing the real test in racing is consistancy one car can win half of all the races in the series and still loose the championship. you are quick to mention the tarmac stages in the states, but in canada the targe of new foundland the gtr fell almost last place and was sponsered by stillen too boot. and lost over cars like the vette mustangs s2000's to name a few.

  • never mind the cars that entered the targa that are 10-15years old so what happen their? or how about the embarassing lost the gtr had on a televised car show IN JAPAN driven by JAPANIESE prodrives on it's debue race to the public to the baby lambo on a short track none the less(if it was on a big track imagine the spanking it would have received). like i said gtr's are WAY OVER HYPED & not very reliable.

  • @dangreenwood123 u can visit the gtr blogs/web pages for most of the info but you tube also has vids showing gtrs blowing up trannies EG:punch in on the search bar for gtr black edition (blow tranny)

  • garage 419 even talks about the gtr's questionable reliability, so did top gear both can be found on youtube check out nissan service bulletins about voiding warrenties when you dissble the traction control!...... I can go on but the point is made!

  • last month 15 gtrs (us) were return by customers that were unhappy with their cars #1 complaint was the continued mechanic and electronic failures accuring in their vehicles, some with broken trannies after 1 trip to the track, and are stuck with the bill.

  • gtr spec-v run's 11's compared to the the zr1 which posted a bullshit 10 second number where what they don't tell you is that they threw on after market slicks on the car to give it a better jump out the hole, and oh yeah they waited for real nice and hot stick day god forbid it was a night run who knows it might have ran 12 seconds

Even the Noble M600 is in the 11's and high tens and that will out gun the ZR1 all day without breaking a sweat. That 10sec 1/4 is total BS even the LP670 is posting high tens but that is again because of LC the same for the 2010 911 turbo low 11's because of LC. The lowest GTR I have seen 1/4 is 11.3 on a stock GTR and a 485bhp compared to 638bhp is pure desperation by the Vette people!!!

  • @Miike92 They had address the problem sort off!, the trans itself hasn't changed much at  all what nissan did was make the gtr launch softer by reprogramming it and to allow its function with the TCS switch ON! if you turn off that switch you are still voiding your warrenty(but heard that they are more leaniet so try it at your own risk) and you can still break that trans easily with just a tune and cat back system. IN short nissan but and electronic band aid on the problem

  • @gmracing15 Wrong. Those failing trannies are a result of idiots not reading the manual and using the the car in completely the wrong way. It's stated there to NEVER EVER TURN OFF THE VDC EXCEPT TO GET OUT OF SNOW OR MUD. It was never a "launch control" to begin with. Nissan Chief engineer Mizuno explains here watch?v=w1bHGaV-Lvw

  • @sailorenlil U are a FLAMING IDOT!!! did you not pay attention to THAT vid they where showing the NEW calibrated system of the 2010 gtr with new hard launching system when the vehicle in sport mode. and you turn it off when stuck in snow (why anyone would try to drive that thing in the snow would also be a FLAMING IDOT too!)

  • @gmracing15 I've been through that video hundreds of times. All the haters brush it off claiming "VDC OFF"="Launch Control" when it isn't (which is the very issue).

    Escaping from mud or snow becomes a necessity if you get caught out in bad weather or somehow fall into an unfortunate situation.

    Then again, there are those who do deliberately drive in the snow like these German guys did in the Nurbugring itself in the dead of Winter:

  • @gmracing15 Perhaps I should make my point clear: the very root cause of the tranny failures was doing the hard launches with VDC turned Off because it was mistaken for "Launch Control".

  • @sailorenlil u Haven't read the owners manual of the 2008-09 gtr's clearly it states in a sub paragraph LAUNCH CONTROL PROCEDURE/FUNCTION it's not the owners fault it's a design flaw in their trannies. and the lame attempt by nissan to NOT cover the vehicles under warrenty protecting their quality image.

  • @gmracing15 Yes I did - the 2009 manual (which you can download from Nissan USA's website as a .pdf file). NOWHERE DOES IT SAY LAUNCH CONTROL even after doing a full search (exactly what document were you reading? or what page is it?). The US version has no 2008 manual since there's no 2008 USA model (that would have to be the Japanese version, and even there, according to Mizuno, there is no mention of "Launch Control").

  • @sailorenlil Due to the law suits in the states, the online manuals have been updated and condenced. Any new manuals ordered will be of the new type. You need to find the orignal paper manual from 08-09 (they maybe available on paper back) their under vehicle control/vehicle managment system will brief inform of the system. or go to TOP GEARs orginal roadtest of the gtr their clackson will BREIFLY mentions this fact! as he reads from that manual in question.

  • @gmracing15 Funny, the news I read was that the USA manuals were NEVER modified at all from the start. The only modifications were the Japanese manuals, and that the only modification was a warning that use of VDC Off in conditions other than recommended would cause damage the gearbox (same warning is present in the 2010 USA manual).

    Clarkson mentioned about the use of VDC Off voiding the warranty in his video "Thrills", which came out before the Top Gear GT-R review.

    GOTO's car has stock engine, gearbox etc makes 780awhp - No vette will EVER be faster round a track than these 3 cars - sorry love the zr1 but its no match for cars with 3 elec diffs buddy - let alone a vette with its 1 mech diff

The 7:20 time is a guess of what the car would be capable of ,based on Nissan testing and simulations, but that time has not been actually recorded on the Nordschleife. Nissan says that they will never release an official time for the V-Spec in the Nodschleife. Why? Maybe because the Spec-V, being more radical, more track-oriented, could end being too hard for the Bordschleife, thus becoming no faster than standard GTR? Who nows...

  • yea..but the brakes on the Spec V cost alot, thats what makes price so high. Theres a guy in Japan who owns a Spec V and the Tuner Company name "Saurus" is doing the tunning. All he doing is (750 injectors, exhaust, ecu, remapp boost) thats it..
