  • So surprised to see this. Chief Redbird was my step-father. What a great guy!

Would be interested to see who he gave the violin to and who gave it to you.

Video sure brought tears to my eyes. I still miss him so much!!

  • Another really Kewl video !!!

  • This is a special muscian with profound ability to link material elements with spiritual insights to straddle the concept for the Oneness of life and truth. In my eyes, this melding of visions with the material and spiritual senses is what makes an artist's works compelling, nay UNIVERSAL.

May Michael On Fire's works be embraced by a larger segment of humanity. Art has the power to diminish the pain of recent fiscal and economic challenges endured by so many.

  • Very hearfelt,thank you for sharing,beautiful 5*

  • awesome.

  • ...nice video visuals and the music was reminiscent of Arlo Guthrie's style-Nice, but sorrowfully, no market for it in todays pathetic market. I must say respectfully, threw my own personal experience, I've never seen or heard of an 'Indian' playing a violin before...If this is based on a true story - I would question it's source...

  • Greetings arromac

It actually is a true story brought through from Michael's personal experience, the violin was in fact a gift to him on his 21st given by a man who played with the Chief back in the day...that's Big Chief Red Bird in the first stage shot...google Detroit In The 50's Volume 4 and look for Big Chief Yodel...he had 2 bands that we know of, The Western Aces and the Cherokee Braves....I believe he was on the Fortune record label,

  • This combination of words, tune, song & pictures is a WHOLEsome representation of art. A chord of harmony resonates through every cell of my body & the limitless, undefinable substance of my soul. It is a rare work that joins Physical & Spiritual Realities of Life.

Michael, you have beautifully depicted in song the essence of Chief Red Bird's life force with the material form of his violin. The pictures add a dimenssion to the joyful, insightful experience.

Please tell me more of the story

  • Oh, just terrific stuff! I'm lovin' this! Kudos to the both of you - great music and lyrics - great vid work! How I'd love to have a concert in my yard this Summer with Michael headlining - and Dancer along for the atmosphere!

    *****

  • Don't go gettin me started now CJ.....actually, Michael's playin all over the place these days and he is available for house concerts...and I gotta tell ya, there is nothing in this world quite like one of his concerts...it''s like getting a hug that never really leaves you if you know what I mean :-)

as always, my very best to you and yours

    Dancer

    Cheers!

    Rick

  • Great story .. just love the pureness of the sound of this wonderful song Michael. And Deb is the Grand Dame of finding the most perfect images and brilliantly weaving them into a visual music box :) POWER STARS!!!!!!!!

    Virginia

  • Excellent song and performance, very powerful, five stars and much respect.

Thanks Carol for passing this vid along.

  • Wow. Beautiful. I'm blown away by the lyric and musical power of this song. The narrarative is so effective. Please leave this as it is, don't change a thing. I would have loved to have seen what Waylon Jennings would've done with this song.

Superb! Thanks Bflatblues55 for sending it!

  • Excellent, I know how frustrating it can be when you have sang a song and made video, and uploaded it and someone says just excellent, actually its a wonderful compliment in one simple word, excellent!! you have excelled. I remember my school teacher writing that on my school work (occasionally,) It felt so good.David.

  • Hi Michael and Deb ... outstandingly written song ... lyrically, the story is rich ... musically the notes just flow and emotionally - it's sung with heart.

    Thanks tons for this gem.

  • Beautiful tribute Michael!

Earth energy contained within a vibrational instrument along with the heart essence of the man who once played it. Yeah...I'd say it would have a mystical feel. It speaks of who you are that you can sense that.

  • Awesome Good! Awesome Good! *****

  • Beautiful work

  • Awh Michael how could You do this Song,

    without a single note from a fiddle/violin

    at least in the background...

    Man!!

    otherwise perfect.

  • It is perfect. The Violin is what you feel of the chief within your heart when you hear this song. Anything else would be an injustice! The violin is the gift of the inbetween....

  • Great job guys! Hand me down instruments are a gift as are all your collaborations! Thanks!

  • Peace & Take care!

  • Very nice. Thank you for sharing this story.

  • well this is a beautiful song, old musical instruments do have a story to tell *****

    Rocket

  • Beautiful nice creation and tribute

  • Precioso realmente!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanking You Michael for sending this heartfelt piece of your creative history with me. Much Respect, Paula *****♥

  • Love the story, love the song. Something about a hand-me-down instrument that is just special. My little dulcimer was someone else's first, and there is definitely something of him left there.

This was a happy find tonight, Michael and Deb! It's lovely! ~NAncy

  • What a sweet song and a touching video.

This is going straight into my favorites for sure. Thanks for sending this one my way Nancy. I have several of these old beauties and each one has a different story to tell.

  • Awesome, really nice.
