  • If that comment is really from Don E. Smith that is very admirable of him and touching that he and others were so passionate about a film that meant so much to me. The next film on my list is "Sampson & Sally" the sweedish cartoon about two young whales and the hardships they face. It is a little dark but it is still a wonderful film.

  • Every world has many things their reasons are unknown. Things we call impossible are forever beeing done. But who`s to say it cant be done when most may never try. For only those who try but fail can ever answer why. To learn that the impossible can happen every day, we must search within ourselfs until we find away.

  • I know white gloves are common for cartoon characters, but I don't see why the "Gallavants" have to wear them.

  • It cracks me up that they keep referring to the students as "gits". XD That's what I get for watching so much British television...

  • thank you thank you thank you. you have no idea how long i was lookin for this childhood film

  • So i finally re-found this cartoon after so many years of looking and reminiscing, and just how i first found this cartoon , by my parents purchasing a rundown vhs cassette for 99 cents at some random thrift store, i went looking for some used pants i can beat up and went to a random thrift store, and there i found again this cartoon but now on dvd and yet the price was 99 cents! Of course i bought it because ive been looking for this fabulous classic children.s cartoon for over 10 years!

long live obscure cartoons that made us happy as kids :)

    disney's got nothing on this...

  • Thank you!!! My childhood right here XD <3

  • This film used to drive me insane when I was a kid!

For starters, I could never for the life of me remember what it was called (I had it taped and the beginning was missing), and I could never really tell if I liked it or not! The scene where he goes blind is really sad and kinda scary!

  • OMG! Thank you soo much for posting this. I've tried to tell people about this movie, and couldn't find anything on it, noone believed me! Thanks!

  • That guy that talks at the beginning sounds just like Rabbit from Winnie the Pooh

  • I loved this movie as a kid. I looked for it for the longest time. Finally I went and put up ant cartoon movie and found the yahoo questions answer with gallavants. What is so ironic is that it was your question that led me to find it on youtube. So thanks for asking the question on Yahoo and for putting it on youtube.

  • "I wanna be a big git like you."

  • Lol, I've been looking for this on youtube forever. Love you so much! This is just about the best movie a kid could ever watch. It has any moral a person could want.

  • hope they re-create this on 3d.

  • I loved this movie as a child and now i can still enjoy it... and im so excited to see it again. THANK YOU who ever posted this. I thought i would never see this again. for a min i thought i imagined this movie cuz i couldnt find it for the longest time

  • THANK YOU!!!!

  • Oh snap! I can't believe this is on here! I used to watch this all the time growing up!

Yeah, looking back, the whole "ant" puns on a lot of words was cheesy, but in a nostalgic way. GrANTS, RadiANTS, HydrANTS, SustANTce, ImportANTS, it goes on.

  • I'm one of the many many people on here who vaguely remember this movie as a child. Thing is we all know for some reason we loved it, we can even picture flashes of images from the film in our minds, but over the years it has just been buried. After finding this on YouTube and watching it again, 26 years later, reminded me why I loved it so much. Thank you for sharing this with the world!

  • Same here. Last time I saw this video was in '89. (sigh) Sweet memories of yesteryears.

  • omg thank u so much for posting this. i ve been looking for a long time

  • what a fantastic studio orchestra. something I miss in new shows.

  • This is one of those of those movies you can watch again when your older and see all the adult parallels that seemed so innocent back then.

I loved this movie, still love it, and I wish they'd come out with a soundtrack (no one of that remake stuff either, the originals)

but Some of the concepts are very adult, and most people don't understand that kids get it, that that "kabump" could have been a living gallavant, and other concepts.

This movie scared the living crap out of me as a kid.

  • me too

  • Scared me too haha

  • I actually lucked into a VHS copy of this.

  • You are my hero!!! I have been racking my brain trying to remember this movie!!!

  • @lmyers135 Me too!!!!! I am so glad I remember the name of this and it is here on youtube! God bless youtube and Ellescene!

  • @lmyers135 I know me too! it took a few google searches to figure out the name!

  • Thank you so much for posting this!! I loved this movie as a kid!

  • Thanks so much for posting this!

  • I had this video! I wore it out. LOL It really is a great movie.

  • Thank you for putting this up. I've been searching for it every now and then and it's finally here!

  • oh my god, i've got this on video tape somewhere in my house.;d i love this.

  • One of my cousins, Vanessa, received this for her sixth birthday back in 2007. I wish I could see her, though. She lives all the way down at Texas. Her mother is named Crystal and is about my age.

  • Thanks for posting the movie. I haven't seen "Gallavants" since my early childhood, when I had a videotape of it. I call that the original "Antz", the original "Bug's Life". :)

  • I suppose, but I think "Antz" and "Bug's Life" are superior in every way, and so are "Madagascar" and "Ovide and the Gang."

  • AHHH! I've been looking for this for years!! thank you!

  • First of all you are a saint! Thank you so much for sharing!! In my search for it all I could remember was that getting a "bump" meant you were a grown up lol.

I'm so glad that movies like this are still appreciated and preserved so that when I have kids they can enjoy it as well.

  • When my sister finds out about this she is going to shit 500 bricks

  • Im so happy this movie is now here on youtube!! I love it! It reminds me of when i was a kid!! :)
