Upcoming show at the Manhattan Inn in Brooklyn, Feb 13th 10PM. Mind reprogram shorts program. (for the initial attack)
@Yujifanik used to watch it 2 times a day when i was 5, my mom would skip to the calming parts with soothing music when i was sleepy, during the day i would watch it whole. today when i want to relax i listen to songs of gandahar, i still sleep to them now as an adult
@andrewniles1 that's kind of what the beginning warns us of, that if you only grasp the good you will not understand the evil and you will not survive it when it comes.. Reminds me of self defense training, if all you know is "good" then you won't be prepared to defend yourself from "evil".... if we're even talking about the same thing...
Amazing, 20 years after Fantastic Planet, the only thing the director could do to improve his qualities, was increase his frame rate from 10-15 FPS to 24 FPS.
@i39darkblade i know thats not what i ment ...i'm asking about its meaninig like my name for example means:"belonging to kendal (the dell of the river kent)." its english. celtic.
When I was 6 years old, my mom got me this movie at the library, I was seriously scarred for life. ALWAYS have I wondered what movie it was. I am now 20 years old and I am seeing how awesome it truly is
Does this movie remind you of Avatar by James Cameron? James Cameron is a huge fan of animation, anime, adult animation, Sci-fi/fantasy and Euro-animation and this is one of his faves as well as Fantastic Planet as he used some of them as influences. He definitely combined Dances with Wolves and Gandahar and Fantastic Planet in one movie.
@Johnlindsey289 You're wright :) Yesterday I saw Masters of Time, also a nice one. But I have to check Dances with Wolves (I've never heard of). ty for the tip
Cameron also used Heavy Metal, Nausicaa, Castle in The Sky: Laputa, Princess Mononoke, Dune, Star Wars, Total Recall and Willow in Avatar as well, noticed that too?
Fascinating. Instead of traveling to the past to save the future, he travels to the future to save the past. Penn and Teller voiced parts of this? Far out.
@mythnow DOn't become defensive of zdragon Ball Z,. What Jacol is saying is that this film as well as the other rene tharoux pieces speak on the human consciousness. I makes statements and asks questions pertaining to the human spirit, psyche and being. What are we doing? Where do we come from?
Dragon ball is an orgy of violence.. It can be considered a type of art as in it takes skill to draw, but does it contribute to the questions of great mystery throughout or short lives?
I rented this movie years ago because Isaac Asimov was on the title box. I watched it all by myself. Completely sober. It is one of the weirdest films I've ever seen. And Isaac Asimov had very little to do with it.

Thanks for uploading this, I have been looking for this film for years!! As a kid I couldn't even watdh this... I remember that my sister's ex-husband made us a tape of Bruce Springsteen videos and this was at the very very end, he put that in there.
Now this is what i call a great movie! I loved it back in 92 at age 10 as i rented it from one of local movie stores here in Albuquerque and loved it since i always been a Sci-fi junkie. I saw tits, some bloody violence and all that as i bought this movie in the K-mart bargain bin, awesome movie that is pure art. I was into adult cartoons since 11 watchin Heavy Metal, Vampire Hunter D, American Pop, Rock & Rule and more on TBS as i even watched Wizards, Fire and Ice and Akira at 13.
I don't understand what is this thing. The movie's name is Gandahar. Why do we have another title. Is this the anglo-saxon version of Gandahar ? But the names of the staff are not good?
Dragonball isn't a "shooting movie" , it's an action anime series.
It's stupid to want to compare stuff like this with Dragonball or anything else anyway, especially stuff like Dragonball because they are so obviously very different concepts...art...ect. I may not like the creator of Dragonball's "style" but it's still art to the creator and his fans. Oh, I don't consider myself a huge fan of dragonball yet I watched it anyway and "methapsique" isn't even a real word.

Wow, when and where did this come out? This looks old. I remember seeing a video cover called light years at the video stores when I was a kid, but never got to see because we didn't have a vcr at the time. I'm 33 now.
I remember seeing this when I was a kid and it freaked the shit out of me. I knew the movie existed, but I couldn't remember the name. Thank you, You Tube!
el-p is a white producer/rapper from NYC which cereal i think was joking about from the comment from bohemund he had an album called fantastic damage but cereal was confused there is a movie like this called fantastic planet
haha i was talking about emerson lake and palmer (elp), cause the soundtrack on Gandahar totally is a rip off of their style. but yes fantastic planet is extremely similar to this flick in a lot of ways. but i actually prefer fp to this one.
seems a lot like Forbidden Planet

Between Fantastic Planet, Light Years, and Avatar, I think we've had our fill of naked blue aliens.
I think the next animated movie about an alien planet should use red aliens, who wear lots of clothing, you know, just to mix things up a bit.

Wow, when and where did this come out? This looks old. I remember seeing a video cover called light years at the video stores when I was a kid, but never got to see because we didn't have a vcr at the time. I'm 33 now.

This movie had some big names doing the voice work. I wonder if they are in the credits?

el-p is a white producer/rapper from NYC which cereal i think was joking about from the comment from bohemund he had an album called fantastic damage but cereal was confused there is a movie like this called fantastic planet
bronzeprince 2 years ago
haha i was talking about emerson lake and palmer (elp), cause the soundtrack on Gandahar totally is a rip off of their style. but yes fantastic planet is extremely similar to this flick in a lot of ways. but i actually prefer fp to this one.
