Holy Wars, Burnt Ice, and maybe 2 other songs I can't think of right now isn't ALL his solos. He's written literally hundreds of solos that don't make any use of that 5 fret pattern you said. Although a lot of his improvised solos in Live concerts make use of that, at least he's having fun and just goofing around. It's better than never moving your index finger with Trem pick. Kirk

it really depends for me, IMO Kirk's soloing is better and more versatile(altough he uses the same scales a lot) but Mustaine's riffs are FAR SUPERIOR to kirk's in every way.
Too bad almost all these solos were composed upon a "single"-tone riff...
They should have more interesting backups like Glenn Tipton who almost always ends his solos in a really spectacular way, most thanks to the creative riffs behind the solos

Don't get me wrong, Hammet is BAD per se, but technically, its not even a question that Mustaine blows him out of the water. Not to mention that Dave can actually write songs, Hammet relies on Hetfield as far as writing goes.
Dave Mustaine is a more diverse song writer and player. He can do the straight up shredding and put feeling into his solos. Kirk hammet just overuses his Wah- pedal and aimlessly moves his fingers up and down on the fret board.
Lets put it this way. Ive been playing for a year and a half and i love playing kirks solos cuz their fun, but i cant even attempt Mustaines solos, to good haha. Love em both, Mustaine kicks kirks ass tho

Listen to his solos on High Speed Dirt and the demo for Symphony of Destruction. He CHOOSES to play fast because its his style, and it fits metal more.

I am massive Metallica and Megadeth fan. I really think dave is talented. But Kirks solos are so much more fit into songs where as dave just does a mad solo that sort of does that. Overall Kirk Hammet as he brings so much to metallica and also he wrote the enter sandman solo which some say is the geatest metal solo ever.

it really depends for me, IMO Kirk's soloing is better and more versatile(altough he uses the same scales a lot) but Mustaine's riffs are FAR SUPERIOR to kirk's in every way.

Too bad almost all these solos were composed upon a "single"-tone riff...
They should have more interesting backups like Glenn Tipton who almost always ends his solos in a really spectacular way, most thanks to the creative riffs behind the solos

kirk es solo un ladron de ideas si no se hubiera robado las ideas de mustaine no seria nadie y lo unico k haria es sacar discos malos con ganas como el death magnetic
mientras k mustaine es un genio compone buenas canciones como peace sell, hangar 18 etc puedo enumerar muchas y lo hace siendo original y todas las canciones tienen riff muy diferente muy de unas a otras mientra k todos los riff de kirk son casi iguales o sea malos

eres un recentido..... todavia te acuerdas de eso que paso hace muchos años..... y ademan esas canciones de mustaine tambien son de hetfield... en ninguna parte sale que la hizo mustaine solo.. en todas copero hetfield asi que nadie a robado ideas a nadie, aunque no halla coperado mucho tambien le pertenecen a hetfield... y creo que la letra de four horsemen es mejor que la de mustaine "the mechanix"

Don't get me wrong, Hammet is BAD per se, but technically, its not even a question that Mustaine blows him out of the water. Not to mention that Dave can actually write songs, Hammet relies on Hetfield as far as writing goes.

Dave Mustaine is a more diverse song writer and player. He can do the straight up shredding and put feeling into his solos. Kirk hammet just overuses his Wah- pedal and aimlessly moves his fingers up and down on the fret board.

Lets put it this way. Ive been playing for a year and a half and i love playing kirks solos cuz their fun, but i cant even attempt Mustaines solos, to good haha. Love em both, Mustaine kicks kirks ass tho

dave has way more variety. from the blues scale to the pentatonic and minor/major scales with some harmonic minor(wake up dead).
the only thing kirk uses is like pentatonic with sometimes an f# thrown in

Listen to his solos on High Speed Dirt and the demo for Symphony of Destruction. He CHOOSES to play fast because its his style, and it fits metal more.

I am massive Metallica and Megadeth fan. I really think dave is talented. But Kirks solos are so much more fit into songs where as dave just does a mad solo that sort of does that. Overall Kirk Hammet as he brings so much to metallica and also he wrote the enter sandman solo which some say is the geatest metal solo ever.

both are great.. one thing i dont get though.. when it comes to the 4 horsemen, everyone thinks daves solo is better coz its played faster. I think kirks version is better when its played a little slower. i mean speed doenst mean its better, which its seems everyone thinks..but thats just my opinion.. and for the record. I know that dave wrote the horsemen solo.
