  • how come they never play the intro?

  • I wonder if late at night, Lars ever watches videos like this and cries, wondering where the fuck he went wrong and what the fuck he was thinking when he made The Black Album?

  • Friends intro

  • Fuck this is so much faster than the studio version..........this sounds like over 250 bpms.....

  • this is my favorite Metallica! fuck yeah!

  • Suprised Lars didn't sue you over posting this.............Nice video, The fans love it

  • @prcandprc LOL xD

  • Like this if you will still be watching this when you are 70

  • james needs that hair back

  • @durpdedumb tienes razón.

  • 2012 most likely

  • Fuck I miss this shit so much !!!! It's his voice that can never be matched...not the music...

  • These guys are BURNING through this song!

  • @67ChevelleSSBlown460 yeh, thats what they did, went out & kicked ass & left town

  • NICE STRAT KIRK!

  • Its a Fernandez styled strat kirk used

  • is kirk using a strat?

  • @DeStRoYeRoFtHeUnDeAd its an ESP Strat, only at the Load era I think he will have signature guitars

  • @oldcomputer666 oh thanks because i have a strat that was the same kind kirk used., its vintage

  • best of the GODs...

  • this is before they went gay

  • If Cliff died 9-27-1986, and this was on 12-05-1986, then who's playing the bass?

  • @aerocmetallica1995 it's clearly jason :)

  • @antoniostarlizos Oh, ok I had no idea he joined them after just a month or so... I thought he joined in '87 or something

  • @aerocmetallica1995 no problem, I didn't know it either - but if your username is xxxmetalicaxxx then you should be able to at least recognize an important band member ;-) you can see he plays bass with a plectrum,... jason was the only plectrumplaying bassplayer in metallica ;-)

  • @antoniostarlizos No that I look at it more deeply, I can tell it's him (I couldn't before because the video quality is meh). Also, I am aware he is the only member who played with a pick; I just figured they got like a touring musician to help them go on (like when they recruited Metal Church's guitarist after Hetfield's incident)

  • @aerocmetallica1995 I don't know the exact dates,... but IF the suggestive dates are true... ... it's quick, but not impossibly quick to learn a steady gig of metallica songs; they aren't the most difficult ones, but still quite amazing they survived such tragic event as Cliff, and recovered so fast

  • FUCK YEACH

  • man i miss old metallica i hate emollica.

  • Who the hell is Dave Lombardo? Some one tell me...:D

  • @01fromfinland Slayer's drummer, duh...

  • @01fromfinland

Only the best drummer in all of heavy metal dude

  • @01fromfinland Drummer for Slayer. In other words a total fucking badass.

  • @01fromfinland

Arguably one of the best heavy metal drummers ever.

Oh I wish...I so fucking wish

  • @KillerOsprey 1988 here

  • Fucking epic!!!

  • james could down pick this if he tryed.....god

  • @MetallicAJamyz james head would roll into the croud and everyone would fight fire for it lol

  • fuck what happened to these guys

  • @jerryflack4eva Their last known album was released in 1988. Rumour has it the remaining members have been playing together in an Alt. Country band of the same name for the past 20 years. ;-)

  • @skeletal13 hahaha thats the funniest thing ive heard all day hahaha

  • @jerryflack4eva their bodys got old and cant rock the same way...

  • @cascaso1 give yourself 20 years and see how you're doing...

  • @cascaso1 If that's the case, then their contemporaries in Slayer, Anthrax, Overkill, Testament, etc. must have dipped into the fountain of youth, because they're still thrashing it up as well as the old days.

  • @skeletal13 Cool story, bruh burh.

  • @skeletal13 emm slayer nope they are falling down teir last cd arent so good anthrax umm i dont know overkill and testament defently yes

  • @jerryflack4eva

25 years is what happened to these guys.

  • ahhh. Back when lars had a kick ass kit

  • can you imagine if james headbanged like that 0:56 nowadays

  • Comment removed

  • I wish they open to this in Dubai!!!

  • click --> 0:12 and have orgasm again.

  • How they use to be.

  • a few months after Cliff's death..RIP Cliff Burton

  • That's why people talk shit about Metallica, because in the past there is so few videos from their tours unlike now, they say Lars can't drum no more, James have lost his voice, Kirk is ruing his solos itd. Well I have a question, LET ME SEE YOU IN THEIR AGE DOING THIS SHIT AS THEY DO NOW !!!

  • @phantom2480

Slayer does their stuff. As does Megadeth and Anthrax.

They're not as good as they were. Lars can't drum. Hell, he never could. He sucks.

  • @jeleopard but Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax (and Metallica) can't play their shit whit same energy when they where young and drunk. Dude listen to lars that is one of the fastest performances of this song ever!!! Certainly he can't drum now, but so as Dave Lombardo can't compare whit his performance when he was young

  • @phantom2480

    I JUST saw Slayer live.

Dave Lombardo pushes the tempo all the time, always remaining consistent. He complains the albums are too slow.

  • @phantom2480

This is one of THEIR fastest performances ever. Check out some black metal covers of this song for speed.

  • @phantom2480 Fucken Right man Id like to see The people talking shit about Metallica Do this Or stuff they do nowadays

  • This was the first song I ever heard from them. Heard it on 94WYSP Metal Shop program. Album had just come out. I was hooked.

  • The speed and fury of this version makes the album one sound like pop !

  • September 27th. 25 years. We will never forget!!!

  • i mean like, can they go any fucking faster, damn!

  • WTF ? LARS STILL ALIVE AFTER THIS ?

  • @kadujedimaster actually lars used to play double bass really good...

  • i love that times when metallica was on the top of the world and now who is on the top is fucking justin gayber!! (damn!!! >_<!!!)

  • in oldschool like here they can be speed as hell and sing now in this new shit music they can just autotune them self and sing little bit fast! fuck new music and fight fire with fire!

  • 2:57-3:38, greatest segment in any Metallica song ever.

  • this video has much better quality than most of the recent ones and this was filmed 25 years ago..

  • Holy shitballs, that was FURIOUS version of FFWF!!

  • Like if you still watch it in 2011.

  • @InvisibleKid101 I'm watching it in 2012!

  • @Peccath Keep up because it's freaking awesome!!!

  • i saw them in 84 and 85..of the fucking hook.

  • they can be faster, heavier, louder, softer, slower, BETTER than any other band EVER

  • ROCK IN RIO METALLICA 2011 CARALHO! \m/

  • Fast as FUCK. Brutal THRASH METAL HELL YES \m/

  • That is thrash metal at its finest right there!!! I want the old James back :(

  • fuking sick!

  • Thanks for posting this! I saw them play at the Edinburgh Playhouse in 1986 with Anthrax in support about two weeks before the crash. It cost me £4.50 and was the best money I've ever spent!!!

  • it's fucking cool how much faster they play live

  • @largesam72 fuck ya man, thats the way it should be fuckin nuts full speed ahead set to kill !!!!! \m/

  • @deadfordays Fuckin A Thrash til Death!

  • @largesam72 hell ya brother!! \m/

  • @largesam72 this song is already fast as fuck so its like hyperspeed haha

  • VADER Version is wicked

  • and ppl say that lars cant fucking do double bass -.-

  • @Foffe9205

    Not anymore.

  • \M/

  • WTF!? It seems like 220 bpm in there! O.o

  • @sailorblumoon they are in standard.

  • Fuck, if anyone could downpick this one, it would be Hetfield! But yeah, it's impossible.

  • Comment removed

  • Hail Metallica!

    Rock In Rio 2011...

  • is this all downpicked?

  • @Daver869 Haha heck no.

  • @Daver869 hell no this aint downpicked, friend. lol r u kidding? theyr speed picking..james is the king of downpicking though!!

  • @Midnightx77 I know James is the king of downpicking, that's why I asked. I really wouldn't be surprised if he downpicked Fight Fire with Fire!

  • Man i miss cliff,

  • this is cliff 'em all right?

  • @Robearwgl no man

  • @Robearwgl no it isnt...u can see jason over there

  • Kirt hammet baby!

  • i went to this show in seattle, drunk on my moms homemade wine, really miss those days

  • james could downpick this if he wanted too.

  • @thrasherlml What?No one in the world can down pick 16th notes at 180 beats per minute.

  • @lucariololol no sarcasm in pokemon fan.

  • no seen drumer, no heard bassist

  • THIS WAS THE LITERAL MIERDA MY FRIENDS!!! BEFORE SLAYER METALLICA WAS THE PURE MIERDA AND MOST HARDOCRE SHIT YOU COULD LISTEN TO!

  • An epic song, the best in the album damn shit he can't do the double bass as it should be.

  • i fought fire with fire once, IT WAS AWESOME ! :d

  • Until 1996 you couldn't complain about the setlist

  • james could still play thissong while using the string gauge 12-56 in standard E tuning.

  • My favourite song!!!!!

  • This is Metallica at their absolute best. I wish I could have been there!

  • I saw this tour, they opened for Ozzy, The ultimate sin tour... They blew Ozzy off of the stage.

  • @TheBlakem your right i too saw this tour in austin, even ozzy admitted metallica was too much! But it was ozzy who let them use the whole stage for a opening act which other's would or will never do! Even the volume was up to the headliners level! Ozzy gave them a very big shot!

  • @TheBlakem I saw it Tue April 8 @Market Square Arena in Indianapolis. They did blow Ozzy away \m/ R.I.P. Cliff \m/

  • \,,/

  • james poses xD ahahahahah

  • just when i thot the studio recording was the fastest thing ever?????

  • WTF? December 1986? Cliff died September 27th of the same year. I would think that the last thing they would want to do is play a show mere months after his death, that's hardcore.

  • @oOlaquerheadOo They were playing a tour of Japan starting Nov. 15th 1986 after two "warm up" gigs with Jason on the 8th and 9th of November. Hardcore doesn't begin to describe it considering what happened to them and the caliber of talent they lost.

  • 18 people fight fire with water

  • @kokokokoko46

    it's super effective after all

  • Comment removed

  • Respond to this video... ok foreal these jokes are not funny anymore, and just because 113 people liked your stupid little comment, doesnt mean it is funny anymore

  • Comment removed

  • wait nvrmind thats the roadie that played with them right? it takes a lot of balls to go up there and play after the death of a friend....

  • @GirlofanAlchemist123 That's Jason!!!

  • hey is cliff in this vid? or... wait... no he died in september correct????

  • OMFG i wish the quality was better in terms mostly of sound... video is ok, but i really wish i was there... sounds so much faster than how they play today, i miss it, atho they play cleaner now...

  • If you look at Metallica playing this song nowadays it is not as fast as they were in the 80's they are getting alittle old now and maybe alittle slower but i still love em ;)

  • I was -4 years old when this happened. And I'd give my life to be able to be there in person!

  • ahhh the good ol' days

  • 17 people try to headbang in this rythm and broke their back

  • I love those hair headbanging. JAMES is the man.

  • wow this is fast shit

  • That's old school!!! Love it!!

  • I like the old and new metallica. But to me the original metallica will always be the Metallica with Cliff. A True bass God. I took me awhile to get into the Justice album when it first came out. I'm glad that Metallica has kept making music all these years. It shows they enjoy making music and they enjoy touring and they also enjoy there fans.

  • 17 peolple were head banging and hit the dislike button

  • A toaast to a great musician, Cliff Burton. I know this comment probably appears on several Metallica videos, but as I sip from my beer bottle and reflect on the music played through my headphones into my ears, I can't help of thinking about this great human being. God bless this man, and may he live on in the kingdom of Heaven for an eternity.

  • Esto si es Metallica!!!

  • cliff was allready dead when this one was?

  • @elwulfo666 ya cliff died in september of that year :(

  • @Wereboy i always thaught they took jason while the recorded justice in 88 and i always thaught 2 years were actually enough for being calm with it but 3 months? thats pretty short time, isn't it?

  • 2:46 not even look at the guitar ad still rippig that shit, such a ledge!

  • Ohhh Yeaaaahhh! Now there's the Metallica I remember.

  • I WANT THAT FUCKING DRUM KIT! They were so brutal back then

  • 1:03 niezłe zapierdalańsko =D

  • what energy have this gays becuse are the best band of the history.

  • @KJLRHHUT the fuck did u just say

  • 17 trendy fuckers came across this video it seems, dislike this haha your a goon.

  • I wouldn't listen Metallica if Lars wouldn't be there. He belongs there with simple fast beat not some crazy drum tricks and shit. Burton was the same thing, he had the skills to write good songs and play epic bass solos etc. In my opinion if Burton wouldn't died, they wouldn't never record ...And Justice For All. Just the idea of replacing Lars to Dave or someone else is like replacing James to Ozzy or Kirk to Synyster Gates. It wouldn't be Metallica anymore

  • @uselessdave2 Agreed. I can't imagine Metallica without Lars. People bitch about his drumming, but I don't want a Dave Lombardo or someone that is just going to use blasts on every single song. That shit would be boring. I can't imagine MOP/RTL/AJFA without his drumming.

  • @IcedEarth426 Lars is a perfectly capable drummer. He's not as bad as the haters make him out to be, but at the same time he's not one of the greats of the genre. I think thats fair to say. He's no Lombardo, Bostaph, or Hoglan, but he has his place and is solid for what he does. Besides, thrash as a whole is a genre driven by the guitars.

  • haven't heard that for a looooong time, lars playing soo fast ,and i actually hear doublebass??!!! like slayer still does !! and metallica did(20 years ago) shame on you!!!

  • @metalboto not sure this is Lars..

  • @Yacuzainthemix dumb ass lars has all ways been in the band he was there only drummer

  • @metalboto Which is why people give Lars so much shit now. He was a much better drummer in the 80s. He could still play the double bass if he wanted to, but he chooses to be lazy because he's old and he's filthy rich now.

  • @vio2112 you know exactly what i'm talking about

  • @vio2112 Virgin.

  • @brunocejas I won't be one after I fuck you.

  • @vio2112 gay...

  • @vio2112 Come on, I'll be waiting for you.

  • what we need is james to bring back the GIBSON 84 explorer and keep the strap low and him to grow his hair back and get the 80's voice back and there back !

  • @jakeeySG97 We also need Kirk to be a much better player like he was in the 80's ;P He's still great though

  • if this isnt thrash, i dont know what is. WE WANT YOU BACK OLD METALLICA!!

  • good god they played that fast as fuck. i may attempt to play it at that speed in the future. but not today lol

  • This is ridiculously fast.

  • @RavenzFan111 It's obvious you don't play bass

  • @RavenzFan111 nope, cliff really was the best. maybe technically he is as good as jason and rob, but he was way better on music theory and that kind of stuff. why you don't like rob?

  • @Tettuli cliff had a steady hand and he could play very fast on bass
