think of the talk box like an extension cab. all it is is a small speaker placed inside a metal box sealed off with a tube coming out of it for the air flow.
the sound goes through the amp from the guitar into the talk box, which drives the small speaker very hard forcing the sound out of the plastic tube. this tube goes up right next to your microphone running a "standard" way through a PA. your mouth controls what is sent to the mic
@alwaysending could i run my guitar into my boss gt-10 and then into the dunlop heil, with the mic plugged into my gt-20's 'midi in' and then into the amp?
a speaker out? The Talk Box sends a guitar amp signal into itself which houses a small speaker and that drives the sound up through the clear tube into your mouth. When you put the tube in your mouth and make changes it sends all that signal through your "normal" vocal mic and into your PA system. I didn't have a PA handy, so I used an amp as one.
Hi there. I just got my talkbox (of course ran with my sm57 recording mic)
but I was curious as to how you ran the talk box with a combo amp like that. Do you just do the speaker out ---> talk box, and nothing coming out the other end of the talk box? Is that enough to complete the signal and power the heil? Thanks. Jamie.
the talk box came out the speaker out on the fender hot rod deluxe, it has out's in the back of the open-backed amp for 1/4" TS cable out. I put the speaker "out" of that amp into the talk box "in". no need for a talk box "out" connection b/c the sound that is made from the talk box comes through the clear tube that you put at your mic, and that sound you hear is from the mic going to a PA system
@alwaysending I've expirimented quite a bit since getting my talkbox. Fun little thing to use. Thats for sure. I understand the things inside and out now, even messed around with the "Typical Pro Setup" lol. Its all good man. I like the video btw!
@alwaysending I honestly like complex setups. They're fun to understand how it works. Thats why I've recently realized I'd probably be a wonbderful guitar tech x)
Oh! you're a fan of tool too huh?
Im an OOBER fan. Sat front row in front of Adam actually. Its the same wah he uses.. It sounds better with different types of amps.. you can barely hear the subtle lowest setting in that video with my high gain Randall, but sounds AMAZING with my crate blue voodoo 120.
does the dunlop heil have a dc input?

@mistermoshpit101
it only has 1/4" unbalanced input and outputs, that's it.

@mistermoshpit101 so where does its power come from?

so i have to run the talkbox from a seperate amp?
my guitar signal goes into my amp, into the alkbox and then that signal comes into a pa system?
mistermoshpit101 5 months ago
@mistermoshpit101
into a PA system via the plastic tube. yes sir that's correct.
if you have a "real" talkbox that is... they make others that do not require this much, but they don't sound as good either.

@mistermoshpit101
no, an XLR mic will not connect to a midi, have you ever looked at both of them? notice one has 3 pins, the other 7.....

@alwaysending
i meant my fx loop sorry.
so it can be guitar out into gt-10
effects send (1/4 jack) into the talkbox, then into a shure sm 57
shure sm57 out (XLR) into the effects return (1/4 jack) using a XLR - 1/4 jack cable that i have.
and then from my gt-10's output into my amp?
i would basically be running the heil in my gt-10's effects loop using the mic's output instead of a normal pedal's output.

So you have to have a speaker out

yeah, they're pretty cool toys to use.... but damn, what a setup you'd have to put up live uh!
liked your wah video, tone sounded very close to Adam's.
