  • I have a question, do you have coelacanths st the aquarium? I always wanted to see one of these extraordinary fish in person.

  • Cool story!!!

  • how much did this ray weigh?

  • to get more fish you have to get a male fish and a girl fish

  • i went here with my mom two years ago i love this aquarium and cola cacalo world thats rite next to it

  • QUESTIONNN!!!!!! where do you get the fish? do you catch them in the wild? are they bred? where can i find a manta ray breeder?

  • so i ahve a salt water fish tank and when i get new fish i have to slowy introduce them to the water in my tank while there are still in their bags. i've always wondered do aqauriums have to do the same??

  • I have been to the georgia aquarium 4 times ( i live in atlanta ) and i never get over the aw of these beautiful animals. Can't wait to go again!!!!!

  • The only thing that makes me sad is that they are out of water for so long while being transfered.

Other than that, they are beautiful!

  • I like that airoplane it would be so fun.

  • i was there nov 6 2010 i loved it i got my face painted there and made a video about the aquarium i loved it

  • Did he get a bite taken out of him by a hammer head shark? Cause i know one did...

  • how big is that tank to fit whale sharks i would like to no

  • I personally think this is wrong, captivity is NOT cool I dont care how good you take care of your marine life. I think its crule to take something out of its natural habitat, its their home, Besides I personally think its more beutiful when they're in their natural place plus they have an even longer life span because their happier.

  • @1981Silkwater except they rescued it from a shark net...... its safer in there. quit trying to be a hero.... ever had a dog or cat?? yea.....

  • one question when put the fish and mammals on the ship do htey come in tanks of water on the airplane

  • what a happy mantaray ... right?

  • Can I have a Manta Ray as a pet?

  • Do you bring them from Africa because you aren't allowed to trap them in USA

  • i love manta rays to death but one qustion how are you going to manage it when it gets to big and heavy for hte tank

  • @nooloo3000 the tank they put it in has whale sharks in so a think its big enough

  • @DarkFatalisBoy but how do you get them out

  • @nooloo3000 the same way they put them in it just takes time getting them to go were they are needed to go thats all

  • How long can these animals be kept out of water?

  • I drove from New Orleans to Atlanta for my Spring Break just to see the Aquarium. It was an incredible experience, and I actually cried from excessive joy while at the ocean voyager exhibit. Thank you so much for helping others appreciate the beauty of the ocean.

  • I hope hes not going to be lonely..how will he ever find a girlfriend now :( You should bring him a lady and let him make little rays. They'd be oh so cuuuttttte

  • @UnsociableZombieFoxx fish dont get lonely there fish

  • @UnsociableZombieFoxx That could have an effect on the little kids watching the mantas mating.

  • @UnsociableZombieFoxx we saw the rays doing a mating dance today. problem solved :)

  • @UnsociableZombieFoxx its a girl, and in the present they have like 7 others currently.i visit the aquarium every two months.i do this because i want to be a marine bioligis when i grow up.so yah i know whats updated :)

  • See Video-Answer - thats how Mantas should be watched!

  • .19 seconds hahha that is adorable it looked like it was dancong (im obssesed with manta rays)

  • Do you raise most of your animals from baby stage?

  • i have a and question and hope to get an answer..... is this how they brought the whale sharks over? please answer i really want to know.

  • Probably. Except on a larger sale This is basically how Seaworld moves all of their animals.

  • maybe they do it piece by piece and reassembly it when all the parts arrive.

  • Yes, this is the same process we use to bring the whale sharks over.

  • AS I remember it.....The whale Sharks got a police escort

  • @GeorgiaAquarium holy crap cool

  • @GeorgiaAquarium Only With MUCH Larger Equipment, Is It Hard?

  • @GeorgiaAquarium Moving a whale shark sounds to be quite a task.

  • @GeorgiaAquarium Do you have a video of that

  • @leandro5537 Yes this is.

  • @leandro5537 not acully dude they brought it over in a easier way not exactly like this beside they carried like 7 baby ones then they grew in 2 months and the weight was only 1 ton but they carried 2 at a time traveling by 2 plans

fyi how i know this because i have a friend that works at georgia aqurium and i went to the aqurium that they got it from

  • beautiful ray.

  • The window is acrylic, 13" worth if I remember correctly.

  • that is amazing what are the dimensions of the main pool it looks huge , and how on earth do you get a piece of glass big enough and strong enough to withstand that type of pressure ,

  • I'v got 1 very important question! Where do they get the rays?

  • Nandi, our manta ray, came to us from uShaka Marine World in South Africa. She was rescued out of shark nets in the ocean.

  • Are they pretty intelligent? I always wanted to be a marine biologist but I ended up as an electrical engineer.

  • @kelvin441997 I was snorkelling in Australias gold coast and a huge manta ray swam past me, it was much bigger than this one, It came past me like a dark cloud and it freaked the hell out of me. I kid you not it was about 6 meters wide. They get over 7 metres wide as adults, They really are absolutely massive when you see them in the ocean. They're bigger than a car and you don't hear a thing when they creep up on you.

  • Very cool to see how they move the animals to the aquarium!

  • whale sharks, scuse me

  • That was the only Manta Ray to truly achieve flight, even if it was only in a freighter airplane :D

  • This is very interesting footage

  • i thought manta rays were small.... or at least smaller than that..

  • i think you were thinking of sting rays

  • i've always wondered how sharks and whales and other big sea creatures travel... in a big tank in a plane, truck, or what?

  • but now i know yay!

  • the whale sharks were...get this...shipped by UPS. of course with staff available to cater to their needs.

  • i would have never even though UPS could do that

  • That's amazing! *laugh* Best thing I've heard all day!

  • im shocked they made it alive being shipped ups

  • Judging from my experiences with UPS, im surprised the whales weren't lost in the process lol

  • lol, i think they were using fed ex

  • even better! LOL

  • @klizzard359 lol

  • Somehow you would have to keep the animal calm during transport so I assumed sedation but Nandi just kind of magicly sprung to life when put in the tank, so how did you guys do it? forgive me for being a nautical novice

  • What I think they did is that they had the appropriate amount of oxygen, etc, and monitors inside of the tank. During the plane ride, I am certain that there were staff there to check on her & maintain her vitals. It takes lots of patience, and lots of effort. But luckily Nandi was such a beautiful addition to the Ocean Voyager gallery. If you can make it, she does like to 'hide', but when she swims over the tunnel it is SO worth the wait.

  • Oh really when i went she was almot the first thing I saw in OV and she's all over the webcams

  • She might have adapted since I first saw her. It's the whole "new place" concept. Whenever something is introduced into a new environment (even humans) the majority of the time it is a little recluse until it adapts. So she's probably adapted, lol.

  • omg that thing is soooooooooo huge stingrays are my favorite thing at the georgia aquarium and i cant wait to see nandi

  • This thing was probly like omg were am i...when it was in the plane also it probly thought it was gonna die..(jokeing)

  • Go to the aquarium website and click on the web-cams and select the ocean exhibit camera and you can get a small glimpse of her if you watch long enough. Not the best quality, but I still laugh everytime she swims in view!!!

  • Nandi! What a cute name! I HAVE to go see her and take lots of pitures!

  • Excellent, I thought I recognised the name and place. Thanks for letting me know. You guys are lucky to experience the sea life so upclose. Well done!

  • Brilliant stuff, Manta rays are magnificent. Where did they get the Manta ray from, was it Shaka sea worl in Durban South Africa???

  • Yep! Nandi came to us from uShaka Sea World in South Africa!

  • @GeorgiaAquarium now when the manta ray gets to big how do you capture it and set it free must be a challenge

  • Welcome Nandi! I look forward to meeting you tomorrow when I volunteer at the aquarium.

  • oh yayy can't wait to see Nandi when I come visit in November!!

  • This is a great video! Welcome to Atlanta, Nandi!
