According to the book, Reach is somwhat like a dense forest in some areas... lakes and such. It snows there and there are many open fields and Covenant/Forerunner ruins underneath the surface.
the structures are forerunner. the had a crystal thing in it that disrupted slipspace drives. only to be destroyed by CPL Lockear in memory of WOFF Polaski. it was also where the spartan II trained. and yes it was quite foresty.

the SPARTAN 1s are almost never talked about (see: ilovebees). Linda, Kelly, Fredic, Dr Halsey, Mendez and a number of SPARTAN 3s are, as you said stuck in the Onyx Dyson sphere.
There has not been a follow up to GoO, but there was Contact Harvest, and The Cole Protocol, as well as the upcoming Forerunner Trillogy, which should be intresting reads.

The Fall of Reach happened days before this was supposed to happen.
Obviously they were ready to spend weeks, if not months negotiating to create a system that would work, so long as humanity wouldnt go extinct (they were desperate at that point afterall). They thought that by holding a prophet hostage that it would stall the covenant advance...and I doubt they understood the extend of the covenant's zealotry toward their eradication. Only those in ONI could have known, and honestly, when has ONI played by the rules?

ummmm reach wasnt totally ended in first strike they describe how they left it partially un glassed because the covenant wanted an artifact in a near by mountian.
I know hes right, but im trying to explain to him why I used clips from the games...there is only one, ONE 2 second clip from Halo 2 that shows Reach, and I didnt even get to use that one (though I should have in hindsight) so, strictly speaking as this was a visual aid for a school project, which not only had to be done in less than a week, but also properly represent the book itself, and given the lack of source material...you should be able to understand why I made this video the way I did.
Honestly though, it was a school project to use as a visual aid for a book of our choosing. I chose the Fall of Reach, and yet there are next to no video clips of that timetable to use. I improvised, I used clips that could be used to represent the events and convey the theme of the book itself.

Bungie did not make Halo Wars, Ensemble studios did (although Bungie did keep and eye on them during the process).
Halo Reach is in fact a prequel. Planet Reach was invaded just before the events of Halo 1. Not only did Cheif obviously live through this event, but about half a dozen other SPARTANs did as well.
Will Bungie make more Halo games after this? I hope not, I bet they're tired making Halo games for over a decade, and I'd like to see what else they can do and come up with.

That is the most common theory, however a closer examination reveals that the forerunners had found an evolving human race on Earth in the final days of their war against the Flood. They saw us as a speices with alot of potential that didnt deserve to die from the Halos. We were spared, along with millions other speices throughout the galaxy inside the sheild worlds. The Forerunners however either "died as planned" or entered their version of the Great Journey, to take after the Precursers.
I love how Earth was being considered to join with the Covenant, but they got rejected, so when war came it was like multiple worlds species, vs just humans, and we held our own for the most part.

Thats what Bungie said, Halo 3 is the final installment in the Halo "Trillogy". There will be no other installments, what purpose does Bungie have of continuing the series.
And the Flood is more or less defeated, all the Flood we know of died when the Ark was destroyed. There may be more Flood on the other Halo instalations, but its unlikely any speices will permit them to escape like they did in Halo 2.
I know, thats what I keep saying...its weird how they keep saying its the end! Unless the ARK's destruction makes the other Halos SD also, its not over by far.
well, it wouldn't affect the other Halos, but the reason Halo 3 is considered the end is because there is nothing left to fight. The elites are allied with the humans, the brutes and hiearchs have been defeated, and Gravemind (and consequentially, the Flood itself) was destroyed with the Ark. Besides, stuff tends to wear out after 4 games in a series. i think its fine where it is. the only other theory left is the cliffhanger ending, but most think its just Onyx, so again, nothing much there.

well, yes, obviously there are other prophets, but only 3 hierarchs. the sangeili are fighting them along with the rest of the covenant. as for the other Halos, they can probably just sit and stew as they had for centuries prior. but, who knows, Bungie may surprise us one day.

Bungie gets literaly thousands of emails every day, they dont have the time to read every single one...unless you want them to stop making games to spend time answering fanmail.

Microsoft will no doubt milk the series for all its worth. They see the money in it and they know it...with Ensemble now closed they'll certainly try and find someone to continue the franchise, but we cant be sure they'll be reliable in continueing the cannon of the original Bungie games. Bungie is the only one who has the Halo Story Bible and unless they work hand in hand with any other company, we cant take the game seriously.

When Bungie started making Halo, Microsoft bought the studio and used Halo 1 as a launch title to get xbox off the ground (it worked obviously). The contract was that Bungie would make a trilogy for Microsoft exclusively for the xbox/360.
A couple months after the release of Halo 3, bungie declared itself independent, while Microsoft still had some claims on the Halo franchise (I dont know the exact details) including a profit margin, Bungie now can make its own decisions and make other games.

There wont be a Halo "5" I assure you (Halo Wars is a prequel if anything but then again, MGS3 is also a prequel so whatever). Bungie confirmed that they have no plans to make another Halo title, now that their contract to make a trilogy with Microsoft is over and they're an independent company. Personally I don't blame them...working on the same story and game for a decade, I figure they're more than happy to start a new project after ODST.

The Fall of Reach was the first Halo related novel published. You can find it boxed along with The Flood, and First Strike. I also recomend looking for Contact Harvest, which in my opinion is the best, but my opinion may change with the recent one that just came out, The Cole Protocol. I would have it already, but im going to wait to christmas. All the books are pretty good, save for The Flood, which is merely a novelization of the first game, but it does provide intresting marine side stories.
As of now, we only know that they're stuck. Cole Protocol is a prequel novel which means it dosnt continue Ghosts of Onyx, so no, as of the current information, we dont know the ultimate fates of Dr Halsey and the others. Just dont tell me the planet at the end of the Legendary ending of Halo 3 is Onyx, its not, I hear that theory all the time and its flat out wrong.
I still recomend looking for Fall of Reach, its real intresting, second only to Contact Harvest

Well there are Spartan mk III. They are more meant for stealth like scouting and assassination missions. Thanks to the Elites Spartan III's come wth their personal stealth feild.
No, Onyx was but Sentinels and some landscape on top. At the end, when the Dyson sphere closed, the entire planet broke apart, revealing that the entire thing was nothing but billions of interlocked sentinels...the end is confusing, i'll admit.
Dinguscong14, That ship is called the "Cradle" it is a Massive repair ship that the iroqouis docks on to get Fixed. Right before that the Iroquois rams a Covenant Cruiser if im exact and wins the First part of the battle in Sigma part of the Solar System. And then the Coventant come back and wage a massive battle and under command of the UNSC is Admeral Stanford. Yes it is called the Cradle and it did Block some of the shots in that massive battle

No, unfortunately neither Bungie nor any machinima group has produced a model of a UNSC repair station. The clip was taken from the very beginning of Halo 2 so what youre seeing in reality is the destroyed Halo Ring...however I admire your interpretation of it, and indeed, it could very well be counted as the repair station if you wanted to think outside the box.
yep...there go rushing to conclusion, when i watched the vid again i noticed the other part of the halo ring off to the right of the peice i thought was the unyeilding something or other, but it would be nice to see the battle at reach animated in a short. i love the bits in the book with space battles, they are just so enthralling!

I know hes right, but im trying to explain to him why I used clips from the games...there is only one, ONE 2 second clip from Halo 2 that shows Reach, and I didnt even get to use that one (though I should have in hindsight) so, strictly speaking as this was a visual aid for a school project, which not only had to be done in less than a week, but also properly represent the book itself, and given the lack of source material...you should be able to understand why I made this video the way I did.

Honestly though, it was a school project to use as a visual aid for a book of our choosing. I chose the Fall of Reach, and yet there are next to no video clips of that timetable to use. I improvised, I used clips that could be used to represent the events and convey the theme of the book itself.
Do not lecture me on the Halo fiction...half the comments on this video are me responding and correcting people, like you, who think they can school me about the Halo lore.

Not exactly, Halo Wars takes place in 2531. The Fall of Reach occurs in 2552...or the attack on Planet Reach itself does at least.
To be more specific, a portion of the book does take place before Halo Wars, but a significant portion takes place afterwards.

Bungie did not make Halo Wars, Ensemble studios did (although Bungie did keep and eye on them during the process).
Halo Reach is in fact a prequel. Planet Reach was invaded just before the events of Halo 1. Not only did Cheif obviously live through this event, but about half a dozen other SPARTANs did as well.
Will Bungie make more Halo games after this? I hope not, I bet they're tired making Halo games for over a decade, and I'd like to see what else they can do and come up with.

ya we are the forerunners you guys read the ghosts of onyx? with the spartan III's and etc. it says well where did the forerunners go from the shield world *onyx* they may have came out and repopulated but their memory mostly gone and overtime "devolved" also the halo's where made to kill sentinent life so the flood cant reproduce but it would be ebrt to amke one that actually kills just flood lol anywho a tactical pulse has much shorter ramge but only kill smaller things (flood parasiites)

That is the most common theory, however a closer examination reveals that the forerunners had found an evolving human race on Earth in the final days of their war against the Flood. They saw us as a speices with alot of potential that didnt deserve to die from the Halos. We were spared, along with millions other speices throughout the galaxy inside the sheild worlds. The Forerunners however either "died as planned" or entered their version of the Great Journey, to take after the Precursers.

I love how Earth was being considered to join with the Covenant, but they got rejected, so when war came it was like multiple worlds species, vs just humans, and we held our own for the most part.

Halo Wars was made by Ensamble, not Bungie
ODST is an expansion to Halo 3, not a full game.
As fun as it is making Halo, im sure they want to do other projects...its not well known that Bungie has made several other IPs in the past. I'd love to see a new ONI game.

Thats what Bungie said, Halo 3 is the final installment in the Halo "Trillogy". There will be no other installments, what purpose does Bungie have of continuing the series.
And the Flood is more or less defeated, all the Flood we know of died when the Ark was destroyed. There may be more Flood on the other Halo instalations, but its unlikely any speices will permit them to escape like they did in Halo 2.

well, it wouldn't affect the other Halos, but the reason Halo 3 is considered the end is because there is nothing left to fight. The elites are allied with the humans, the brutes and hiearchs have been defeated, and Gravemind (and consequentially, the Flood itself) was destroyed with the Ark. Besides, stuff tends to wear out after 4 games in a series. i think its fine where it is. the only other theory left is the cliffhanger ending, but most think its just Onyx, so again, nothing much there.

And you know, there could be Covenant left, just in small groups, I believe I read somewhere about there being more than just 3 Prophets. But they would be lesser prophets.

well, yes, obviously there are other prophets, but only 3 hierarchs. the sangeili are fighting them along with the rest of the covenant. as for the other Halos, they can probably just sit and stew as they had for centuries prior. but, who knows, Bungie may surprise us one day.

possibly. the halos definitely pose an interesting twist. their destructive potential makes it easy to want to destroy them, yet the forerunners built them for a reason, so it may be wise to keep at least one around just in case.

Bungie gets literaly thousands of emails every day, they dont have the time to read every single one...unless you want them to stop making games to spend time answering fanmail.
In any case, Bungie keeps their story a very big secret, and while they may read, or even consider your idea...theres no guarentee it will fall in line with the rest of their plans

Microsoft will no doubt milk the series for all its worth. They see the money in it and they know it...with Ensemble now closed they'll certainly try and find someone to continue the franchise, but we cant be sure they'll be reliable in continueing the cannon of the original Bungie games. Bungie is the only one who has the Halo Story Bible and unless they work hand in hand with any other company, we cant take the game seriously.
Personaly...id rather the series die on a high note like this.

Bungie bought their freedom from microsoft along with the rights to the game, microsoft has no stake in halo anymore from what I understand.

When Bungie started making Halo, Microsoft bought the studio and used Halo 1 as a launch title to get xbox off the ground (it worked obviously). The contract was that Bungie would make a trilogy for Microsoft exclusively for the xbox/360.
A couple months after the release of Halo 3, bungie declared itself independent, while Microsoft still had some claims on the Halo franchise (I dont know the exact details) including a profit margin, Bungie now can make its own decisions and make other games.

There wont be a Halo "5" I assure you (Halo Wars is a prequel if anything but then again, MGS3 is also a prequel so whatever). Bungie confirmed that they have no plans to make another Halo title, now that their contract to make a trilogy with Microsoft is over and they're an independent company. Personally I don't blame them...working on the same story and game for a decade, I figure they're more than happy to start a new project after ODST.
Just wanted a fellow Halo fan to have all the facts.

The Fall of Reach was the first Halo related novel published. You can find it boxed along with The Flood, and First Strike. I also recomend looking for Contact Harvest, which in my opinion is the best, but my opinion may change with the recent one that just came out, The Cole Protocol. I would have it already, but im going to wait to christmas. All the books are pretty good, save for The Flood, which is merely a novelization of the first game, but it does provide intresting marine side stories.

As of now, we only know that they're stuck. Cole Protocol is a prequel novel which means it dosnt continue Ghosts of Onyx, so no, as of the current information, we dont know the ultimate fates of Dr Halsey and the others. Just dont tell me the planet at the end of the Legendary ending of Halo 3 is Onyx, its not, I hear that theory all the time and its flat out wrong.
I still recomend looking for Fall of Reach, its real intresting, second only to Contact Harvest

Ive read Fall of reach, The flood First strike, ghosts of onyx and i am reading contact harvest(it sucks cole protocole isnt out in Australia yet) and i personally enjoyed all but the flood, as it is bassically word for word with the game, and yea in ghost of onyx

No, Onyx was but Sentinels and some landscape on top. At the end, when the Dyson sphere closed, the entire planet broke apart, revealing that the entire thing was nothing but billions of interlocked sentinels...the end is confusing, i'll admit.

Dinguscong14, That ship is called the "Cradle" it is a Massive repair ship that the iroqouis docks on to get Fixed. Right before that the Iroquois rams a Covenant Cruiser if im exact and wins the First part of the battle in Sigma part of the Solar System. And then the Coventant come back and wage a massive battle and under command of the UNSC is Admeral Stanford. Yes it is called the Cradle and it did Block some of the shots in that massive battle

No, unfortunately neither Bungie nor any machinima group has produced a model of a UNSC repair station. The clip was taken from the very beginning of Halo 2 so what youre seeing in reality is the destroyed Halo Ring...however I admire your interpretation of it, and indeed, it could very well be counted as the repair station if you wanted to think outside the box.
