@pillsburydoughboy47 "and I was genuinely more concerned about her, than I was about myself". That's not genuine.
"is that normal"? No, that's abnormal.
I bet you're nothing like that BS criteria/diagnosis that bogus pyches try to BS people with. Seeing yourself as #1 is a disorder? puh-lease. The opposite of narcissism is the REAL disorder and you know what that says. :)
@pillsburydoughboy47 I say I bet your nothing like what's described because I myself is nthng like the "description' of narcissism; apart from it's all about me.I 'm the center of the universe, basicly loving yourself completely and unconditionaly.
If someone cant see themslves worse yet taught not to see themselves on that level are like I said the ones with the actual disorder,so, that's 99.9% of the world population.
2.W/o a moderation intervention. Either through support system or self awareness(the best of supports) we fall for the commercialism and materialism that is around us everywhere. It is the best disorder for a consumer society where the interests of the Advertisement institutions are concerned. Narc. are the best consumers. B/c they dont really love themselves. But want the world to love them by any means necessary. The cool car, clothes, latest gadgets, achievments et al.
I was told that I was cute since childhood. I was told that I was brilliant since childhood. Then in adolescence girls told me I was cute. But then someone better looking got the girl. This lead to a constant need to be perfect. And it is reinforced by most of the input around me: Media, work, business. W/o appropriate moderation many of us can fall victim to this disorder. I think as a whole, Americans are narcissistic more than anything. It is selected for us by default.
i think that people are just different and the psychological community is obsessed with labeling peoping into stereotypes. What do you call the dissorder of being obsessed with stereotyping everybody? i want to ask a psychologist that question.
It's a fact that a group of people behave like narcassists. How else can we identify them if we don't have a name for it. I think it's the "condition" that's being labeled, not the person, and the label is just a starting point to a path of understanding.
im more-less an introvert i found out i was narcissistic when i was younger n its hard as hell to keep friends cause you have to be ''good enouph'' or look as good as me to be my friend but forget those losers im sexy as fuck
Actually there is no such thing as perfection or perfectionism. These are false beliefs. My mom always needs me to be perfect and does not want me to be naive. Actually everyone of us is lacking a thing or two from our life. Great video!!
I love myself, that means, as long as I'm alive I will be happy because I'll always be connected to the one thing I love. No matter what happens, I'll be happy because I have myself. That's called life affirmation and is about the most healthy thing for anyone. Narcissism isn't a disease, it's an ideal.
"The opening is focused on the cliche of narcissism such as being "in love" with oneself, when actually, narcissism is merely a state of holding high importance of one's needs over others. This includes avoiding contact on an emotional level (thus pushing away the idea of needing "admiration" from others), and usually feel the need to build up a glossy, appealing front in order to appease others."

Not all of these people are shallow, many times they're greatly introvert and they find the only person that can actually care about them is themselves, because the ability to care for another has been hindered.
A person can not be narcisistic unless their support system is 100% honest as a whole. Without your family or your brutally honest friends, you would not face ANYONE with judgement and could only then, look solely at yourself for advice.
Think of this the next time you judge others whom haven't the narcisitic manner as your evil pack that you can never be seem in public without.
If by a chande, you have no parents, then that's STILL being a spoiled brat. With parents or w/out them, you win.
I think this is wonderful for a first film. Its the first film on YouTube that has made me smile (other than my own stuff!). I think its quite exquisitely done. Its pretty critical of the power relations involved in labelling disorder yet it also works through the argument very rationally whilst being funny and watchable at the same time. An instantly winning opening, real clever characterisation and the rave music at the end is great also. Nice one!
The voice is grating and disturbing. WHY WHY WHY?

what happens if you have all the traits but you love someone more than yourself?
I consider myself a narcissist, but in high school I was head over heels in love with this chick...
and I was genuinely more concerned about her, than I was about myself.
is that normal?
lets see I talk a lot, I feel a deserve a cubicle job (entitlement), I feel I deserve to see my family (more entitlement...)

I don't mind this video, it's kind of a fresh take on Narcassism. Most of the information being discussed in articles and other videos is repetative.

There's more to psychology than what is in the brain. If the mirror cracks, then so are we.

Actually it is sort of an ideal. It's a defense mechanism taking over and acting out an ideal. precisely.
