  • Ha nice. i would be so mad if they were to accidently lose grip of the gaff and the fish dropped back down to the ocean.

  • what was it really? i'd put it at 190-220 tops. by the way, you don't actually need to shoot it, just put the barrel near it's head - it's the sound that stuns them..try it next time.

  • I think i just got a boner and i dont have a penis.

  • Bloody hippies with your catch and release, how would you like to be dragged through the water by your lip and then hung on a scale and left out of water for a few minutes then put back in the sea with your eyes bulging out of your head from depressurisation and dried skin only to be torn apart by predators because you can't swim properly, I keep every fish I catch because I eat it because I am top of the food chain, if it's a lithe then I put it in a kreel

  • Great clip , Wow what a fish, right on

  • Last I heard halibut is pretty expensive if you buy it per pound at the store. Imagine if it was at least $30 a pounds, it just paid for the entire trip!

  • Comment removed

  • that is fantastic!

  • you guys sayin 150-200 are way off that things huge! like for 3 of them to struggle to pull up something like that gotta be heavy!

  • I bet more people have been killed by idiots trying to shoot halibuts than by live halibuts on boats...

  • @jarlerop1 You would lose that bet.

  • nice shot...but i think those wacks in the head with that little stick did the trick

  • That's hella fucked up. Pull, Bang, Stab, Stab. Fuck you guys.

  • @UHIGaming your a fucking moron. they have to.

this fish can kill people being on a boat.

    they are very strong

  • wtf u must not know a thing about fishing quit being rude and get a life cuz they do that to knock the fish out so it will be eaisier to get in the boat retard

  • That thing is huge! No wonder you put it down before you bring it on board!

  • beeder66,please revise your video post title. Maybe 160 or 170. NOT 380. 380 is about the size of a 4x8 sheet of plywood. Those two dudes that lugged that one in the boat would NOT be able to heft 380 lbs of deadweight. Sorry to rain on your FISH tale. To be fair,we've all told a fishtale.OK.

  • Umm, no where near 380 boys. Maybe 150#, not an ounce more.

  • a fish that size alive in a boat would break legs and wreck the boat, thats 380lbs of pure muscle, you have to kill it before bringing it onboard. And for the peta phags, theres a limit on how many you can keep, you must be a vegitarian, if not SHUT YOUR CAKE HOLE!

  • holy crap why are you peta loving pussies always commenting on fishing videos. are you that goddamn attention starved that you need to bother one of the oldest sports in the world? get over it. it died. its fags like you that make me only enjoy fishing for these for like 4 days a year.

  • and fisherman wonder why people are trying to shut down fishing........

CATCH and RELEASE its not a fucken moose dont shoot the damn thing

  • @TheMTSGaming You are a fucking moron who knows nothing about halibut fishing or likely fishing in general. If you don't kill a big halibut before bringing it into the boat it will start breaking legs, gear etc with it's flopping. The safest way to kill it for all persons involved is by shooting it. Learn not to open your mouth and talk shit when you don't have a clue what you are talking about.

  • awesome guys GRATZ! X)

  • @outsins123456 They did shoot it first...

  • loosers hunt objects which can think as well as you can

  • @stasiorastaman Humans need food to survive as well as any other living creature, and it's *losers*.

  • @outsins123456 cause its the most logical way to put it out of its misery before bringing it on boat harming crew members.

  • i want to catch fish like that

  • Not 380 lbs. Somewhere around 150.

  • @jaredmccormick ....Not going to argue the claimed weight but I weigh 200lbs and that fish is bigger then me LOL...for the record the weight to length chart states an 88 inch fish would be 376.5 lbs and an 150lb one 66 inches.(5 and a half feet) the average size nine rubber boot is a foot long so judge from that ....you can see their feet...

  • @jsmallwood2007

That inch to weight ratio (to figure out how much your fish weighs by the measured size) only works for Salmonids and Tuna and the like. It doesn't really work for Halibut.

  • @0409joe excuse me for going by the chart supplied by the International Pacific Halibut Commission...my Bet is its fairly close, give or take 10%( 40lbs on a 400lb fish) ....no chart is spot on for any species salmon or otherwise it is NOT a replacement for an actual accurate scale, but it is used as a tool when collecting data in a non destructive way...thanks for the insight....stay in school

  • Wow, nice fish and I cannot understand why you guys have to be so ugly or mean to each other all over a fish, good grief. Grow up a little would ya and go catch another fish for goodness sakes.

  • q pez tan mas mamon,

  • do you also enlarge your penises as the fish do?

  • yeah at most 220

  • did you not see the gun go off? That fish in nowhere near 380 lbs.

  • takie małe gówno sie wydaje a 380lb KG

  • Did you guys put a slug through its head before you brought it on the boat? Those suckers can be violent when their brought on board. He seems to be pretty calm or lifeless.

  • how much u guys get a pound for them

  • nice fish iv cought one that was 492 with out guts

  • @listuguj88 i've cought one that was 492 and with out guts Shut the fuck up and with my dad too shut the fuck up mother fucker

  • @zzztubazzz BAHAHAHAHAH my daddy my daddy

  • @zzztubazzz your a fucking pussy and you and your dad both fucking suck at fishing you fucking prick you think your so tough talking like that ill kicked the shit out of you and your dad want my address and my home number you fuck

  • @listuguj88 hey man take it easy when you take to me Ok you mother fucker i'll come over and kick all of your family ass u piece of shit

  • @zzztubazzz you cant even spell right or type your mom and dad must be brother and sister you fucking inbred BAHAHAHAHA go fuck your sister/first cousin you fucking inbred fuck face lol your so full of shit your mad cause i cought a halibut over 100 pounds more then your stupid dad/unkel you fucking inbred

  • Rinavanity: they are not full of mercury, but they have a lot of toxins simply from being so old. Similar ton the big tuna that is often caught.

  • The Big/Fatty ones are great on the BBQ..

  • @JoeVSvolcano nope. they are chalky. the little ones about 20-35 lbs are prime.

  • A) those big fish breed. B) you CAN'T eat them. those big bottom-dwellers are FULL OF MERCURY.

  • @fuzzynippleman people do anyway, dont get it,everything that lives on todays bottoms are ful of poision and heavy metals and polution and radiation and mutating

  • @fuzzynippleman I agree that returning big fish, if possible, is a good idea due to their spawning capabilities but could you give details of where you got the idea of bottom dwellers being full of mercury.

  • Wow like a fucking sickle and a rifle...

  • Abuse? So what's the difference if you shoot it or gaff it? For crap sake, they killed it quickly. People bitching about shooting the darn fish ain't bichin when they are pouring the lemon juice on him. For me, as long as it is a fairly humane kill, I don't care how they do it! On the other hand, I've watched the cow abuse videos on YouTube. I hate people who abuse animals for their own amusement. I wouldn't mind seeing those guys get gaffed right through the nutsack... just for the halibut ;)

  • agreed with the gun think, it takes all good in this video away

  • need to change this caption. I have caught a lot of halibut in my day, at best that fish weighs 150lb. An average 'large' halibut. Was the gun really needed? So sad. Learn how to fish.

  • @aubloom That fish could easily weigh 300 pounds. I live in Ketchikan Alaska, some of the best halibut fishing you can do. If you don't kill halibuts before putting them on the boat you risk a chance of the fish breaking knees or possibly knee caps. Most people either gaft or shoot fish that big before pulling them on board.

  • its like a giant flounderrrrr

  • Dierenbeul dat je bent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That's gonna make a grip of fish tacos...

  • if tarzan was alive he would jump into the water wrestle with the fish and use hie bowie ha ha ha there was a incident some time back on a fishing trip down in the baja mexico when either a waho or baracuda jumping on deck and bit the achilies heal of the fisherman i know you dont wat that to happen to you its life long agony

  • Genius! Without it's head the monstrous fish is powerless!

  • the fish will not lead poisoned?

  • @jarand22 I don't think so because he shot it in the head and they don't eat the head, but i'm not sure.

  • @Fisherguy28 okay (:

  • that's a terrible way to kill a fish.

  • @racooninabag its the only way to kill a fish like this

  • @racooninabag They do it this way because it's such a dangerous fish alive in the boat.

  • @racooninabag Arent they gonna eat it anyway? Who cares how they kill it before they butcher it.

  • @biggelove09 Generally halibut that big aren't as tasty as smaller ones. The meat is a lot more lean on smaller halibut than these 300 pounders you see. It gets a little tough they get that big.

  • @FightEveryone It seems like old fight just aren't that good overall I'm hearing.

  • If theres a fish shop showing out trout just whip out this baby, That'll turn some heads.

  • by the way i just googled world biggest halibut and the biggest i found! Norway region of Finnmark in vicinity of Russian border. The fish weights 314,5 kilos (693 lbs.) and three meters (10 feet) long). dam! hehe cought in 2007.

  • Glad to see Alaskans sportin a Mariner jersey :D

  • WOW...

  • nice halibut! but in norway where i fish we normaly use a wooden stick ore a hammer if we have and hit it a few times in the head. But point is when you get it in the boat to turn the white side up in case it still is alive! a halibut with white side up is like a turtle up side down! It looses the power in the kicks so to speak! hehe

  • he shot it with a gun lol

  • @Fizza107 its a 380 pound halibu he has to shoot it if he didnt he have a hell of a time getting it in the boat and if they did it could really injure somone...... 200 lbs + u gotta shoot it

  • That is a big fish!!! When I went to Sitka this sumer I caught a 120 lb one but it's nothing compared to this!!!

  • did he shoot it with a gun? lol

  • well that was a waste o meat

  • that's a lot of Halibut!!! WOW!

  • dam he shot the halibut with a gun FOR FUCKEN SAKES DAM

  • hhmmmm

    dorschangler net

  • impressive

  • nice catch

  • why did they shoot it? ive seen people catch bigger fish but they didnt shoot it!!

  • @zakarnah dude stfu ur gay these halibut kill people

  • @FPYCRUGBY BULSH. No they do not, halibut are flat fish similar to flounder, incapable of swallowing a human. in any case if some one was injured by a halibut on a fishing boat, than that is their problem is it supposed to roll over and die?

  • @bl00dyg0re53 no fucking shit retard ive caught them u asshole they flop around and throw people out of the boats into icy water and no i dont expect them to roll over and die so i shoot them

  • WOW. Good point about the breeding but i cant blame a guy for bagging that

  • Not 380, and a waste of a good breeder. Real men let these big females go.

  • lol i got that on movie? what about i got that on video

  • It would be much better for all to see this animal alive and in the water, you impress only mindless meat with this videos. And you need to take on the gun to? This is not fishing, fishing is done for survival, this is plain and sick murder and violation against the beauty of nature.

  • @Mattan777 even tho it may not be 380, probably 200-250, halibut are shot/clubbed for a reason. In a boat, they are dangerous, and can kill a person, especially at that size, and good luck goin down 500 feet to take a look at the fish. god put fish in the sea to be eaten by us. not to be watched like a bunch of idiot hippies

  • @hockeybeest24 not all fish are meant to be eaten by us, rather than to be eaten by other fish/aquatic life, or to support a strong ecosystem. although i agree, things like this *points at killing of a halibut*, it needs to be done for our survival.

  • @Mattan777 ok, first off, if i had a chioce of being shot in the head over suffocating. i think ide choose bein shot. second, animals eat other animals, and im guessing this fish has been eaten. animals bein as stupid as they are is natures way of saying "we made it easy for you". dnt spit in natures face dude.

  • why kill such a beautifull large specimen as that... fuckin cowboys

  • yea this fish is not 380. from 150-250 forsure, but almost 400? no, sorry. good way to get more hits on ur video tho haha... congrats on an incredible fish none the less

  • im not a 100% sure, i have been halibut fishing (long lining commercially) and i was told that 300 lbs and up is not good to eat apparently too much bacteria in the meat, all u can do is smoke it or something like that.

  • if that was 380lb he couldent pick it up

  • bingo.....150-200. no way in hell is that a 380lb

  • halibut is damn tasty. and worth a pretty penny

  • really people...if you dont like it dont watch it, its fishing...

  • WTF THATS SCREWED UP

  • idk why but i dont approve, or it makes me feel wierd that you shoot it. i just don't like it....

  • as long as there eating it...i dont see a problem with it..but i just hope they dont throw it back in the water after shooting it...that would be stupid

  • @RyLaxKid13 you have to cause a 400lb fish will seriously hurt you when it flops around in the boat

  • haha 380 lbs! thats about 150 tops!

  • @captwilly428 wtf r u talking about? that looks like a easy 300

  • @RyLaxKid13 nah man i catch halibut for a living, and i'm sorry to say keep trying. Sporties always overestimate weight.

  • @RyLaxKid13 ya i'd say 150 to 200. we caught a 169 and it was a little taller than me.

  • look at the girth of in it though...i could see aroud 300...the low 300 though

  • Nice catch

  • omg u sick bastards killing a ccreature nah im jk lol it deserves that beatin

  • That thing's a HOG , nice catch.

  • Nice one

  • I once got a Halibut it weigted 294 LB !!

  • I bet there's about 40 more down there in the humpty bumps.

  • Use a gaff with a shark hook and tied at the end to the boat , let it fight a little, keep rope tight , then bring close to you and cut the fish throat and let it bleed to death , but before you stick it with shark hook make sure your drag line is not to tight in case you miss it and piss it off , it will dive down fast and break your line .Halibut over 100 lbs don't taste as good as the smaller ones , and the big halibut are the female witch I let go to breed.

  • thats very nice of you mr. :D letting them breed more so they dont go extinct i salute you sir !! :D

  • I'm calling that one about 200 - 220 dressed weight. I've caught hundreds of thousands of pounds of these fish and never had to shoot one. Usually we just ring em on board and then knock em out,

  • 200 lbs max is right. hahaha

  • alright all you people talking about shooting fish...do you want to bring in a 300 pound fish into your boat alive? and have it start flopping around? ill come visit you in the hospital with your broken legs dumb shits

  • Thank you sir, its refreshing to hear from someone who knows what the hell their talking about.

  • I caught a 290 and it looked bigger than that. I no longer suport the big fish tourny. the big females are what keeps them comming. but you have bubba's in every state.

  • oohhhhh shit what big!!!!!!!

  • that 390

  • that is not a 38o lb fish,,fucking liar!

  • fuckin pussies,,,you dont shoot fish,,just gaff em and rip em aboard,, doesnt even look that big!

  • 200 lbs max. shooting fish???

  • wow, that is kinda not cool, keep killing all those breeders and we will not have any halibut left! ! keep the chickens bet that tasted aweful! !

  • @knox231 no i bet it tasted great. the flakes were probably larger and it may not have been ultra tender, but the famous taste of halibut would still be there.

  • holy fuck

  • thats awesome, keep killing alll those big breeders and soon there will be no fish. I bet that tasted good?

  • real halibut fishermen dont shhot their fish and we use proper gaff hooks those sport salmon gaffs can straighten out and you lose the fish. It is also easy for the halibut to shake itself loose from the gaff to freedom.

  • it cant shake itself if its shot dead first

  • that was awesome!!! great catch by the way in all of the videos when people catch halibut why do you shoot it in the head? keep the vids cumin

  • well not just halibut with a big catch its safer to handle fish like that could break your hand or pull you in the water but mostly for handling reasons

  • Comment removed

  • ok thanks good catch

  • 0:07 that was death metal brutal right there! lol kudos for that man. lol

  • Great catch.

  • yea you can come up here and try it and ill laugh when you get pulled in, then you will wish you shot it.

  • have you even seen a halibut on a fishing boat, if you ever do you'll understand why they shot it in the head

  • ABC, while serving in the Coast Guard, we were anchored in a bay near Sitka, The 5' 2" filippino cook hooked a monster halibut that, by hanging the back fin to the deck was taller than any man on the ship! When it started flopping, it shook the deck of an all steel ship. The cook was yelling "rub his belly!"! We told him...."YOU RUB HIS BELLY"! That was a huge halibut that would have killed a man trying to make it stop flopping around. I wish we had video back then

  • woulda loved to see that lol

  • for fuck sake a lump of fucking lead in it ,fucking yanks.

  • ur cool u douchebag

  • america kicks the shit out of ur country u fagget

  • Comment removed

  • Only the Americans would take a gun on a fishing trip !!!

"I have the constitutional right to bear arms".

    Derr...against a fish????

If you go out fishing and catch a big fish, then surely the idea is to land it by hand?

    Not shoot it....??!!!

  • you idiot if i saw u in real life id hit u in the face

  • one that big it could

  • Yeah I know what you mean you always have the "AMERICAS #1" people out there...I'm an American but I don't share that OMG MY COUNTRY RULES THE WORLD attitude...I try to be more of a polite, "learn about everyone's culture and absorb it" kind of American..

  • lol everyone loves to hate on america.

  • you obviously never gone fishing and caught anything over 100lbs.

You dont just club a 350lb fish jerkoff.

  • Thats how you kill halibut when they are that big...

  • AAAHHH-UUUU!!! now thats a $800 halibut right there!!! lucky bastar*s n that a complement

  • Comment removed

  • wow u guys do know that shooting it is the conventional way to ctach large halibut. Retards dont even know what theyre talking about >.>

  • idk what these assholes are talking about that shit was great. i woulda shot him too...i still consider my spearfishing as fishing...they're just jealous all they have is shitty skate. i garuntee they cant pull the skate into the boat without a gaff

  • I would laugh if your guys gun fell in the water lol but it was a fast kill dont worry about all the rude comments he wasent that small of a fish i love to see the haters try to bring that fish in with out killing it

  • nice little ' butt '

    some old long liner

    give me 72 hrs

    or give me death ...

    woof..

  • i have caught whale ......not excited

  • nice fish guys! Lots of good meat. Never mind the comments about not shooting it, I'd love to see them bring a fish in that big without shooting it. You have to kill it some way before you eat it!

  • fuck sake americans and their guns, fucking lunatics !!

that's not fishing when you have to kill it with a gun before you can land it.

we land bigger skate than that without harming them and then return them to the sea alive to be caught again.

    yay high fives all round

  • I would throw the skate back also.....those things taste like crap. Up in Alaska, we have good tasting fish so of course we kill them. I'd like to see you bring a 300 lb halibut in without shooting it first.......its gonna snap your leg in half. Take your anti-american comments elsewhere.
