a good tip, dont upgrade the videocard. your CPU is the bottleneck. AMD 64 X2's arent that powerful anymore. consider buying an Athlon II X2, or X4 (X3 = useless)

@JamAsianz its pretty much a standard in pc now a days. i mean 2 gigs on windows 7 is far too little, as windows 7 takes up 1gig of ram, though some says its only 512 gigs of ram (debatable). I'm saying its far too little, if you're going to game on your rig, though. your set up is pretty good, but add atleast another stick of 2 gig ram. if you wanna go crazy, then max your motherboard out :) mines is limited to 8 gigs but im content with 4gigs i have now on it.

The reason for this is because GTA IV is mean't to be used with Quad Cores. Im telling you the truth :) Quad Cores are getting implemented into more and more games now.

well its not the cards fault. this game just has like the worst engine ive ever seen in a game. i watched other benchs even with hd5870 u sometimes drop to 30 fps so buy a good quad-core with at least 2.8ghz and a card 4890+ or gtx280+ and u should be able to play it.

the 8600gt is lowbudget shit which is even shitty for its low price. i made my biggest mistake in life and bought a 8500gt, i barely handles fear on 1280 without AA/AF and other options on OFF.

u got a good cpu so buy hd4770 since hd4850 is slightly better in performance but is shittier in temps, costs and usage than the hd4770.

Do not forget the Fraps lag, that seems to be captured with Fraps, without fraps should be a little more smooth, a Sony Varo FW Series with GFX Card works better than that =P (ATi MHD 4650)

Wow! You guys are lucky. I cant play this game for more than 5 minutes. Error message shows up all the time saying out of VRAM. My rig's E2180 which I can overclock to 3.0GHz if required (got a coolermaster z600 so i don't mind turning the heat up), a single stick Kingston 2GB DDR2 800, an ASUS P5Q with P45 chipset, a HD 4670 512MB GDDR3. I'm wondering what could be the problem? Anything I don't know? I've patched the game. Got latest drivers too. No temp issues either cause my lid's off.

For real. Q6600 stock speed and cooler. 2GB 667 by Kingston. 8800GT by Inno3D @ stock with reference cooler. I built it for him for Photo Editing and Video Editing. ASUS P5K SE holds them all together. Windows XP with updated drivers. He uses XBox's controller. I'm not sure why this game is taxing our systems so much. Its ridiculous. Need help.
