grossman had a good run as a bear. his record was good and he did some things ive never seen a bears qb do. bears fans are fickle. the whole bears mystique is to win games despite a shitty quaterback. ive been watching bears games regularly since about 1995 so in the last 15 years how many games have you seen one by a blocked field goal or a late fumble or something that in absolutely ridiculous bears' fashion
I'm a Bears fan, and it's truly a shame that most of the fan base that I'm a part of is so full of idiots. I wish that Rex would've been stuck with the way that Holmgren stuck with Favre back in the 90's
I'd like to say his size is his main concern. I hear hes only 6 1 maybe 6 2 and thats not that tall for a QB, but Drew Bress is 6 and hes a Pro Bowl QB. So there goes that idea, I just think that the Bears need better recievers or a new revievers coach to teach how to get off a jam or just get separated. I think he'll do ok at some other team with quick recievers. Maybe compete with Matt Schaub at Houston or who knows...but I think he'll be at home til the season starts.
The Difference Between Kyle and Rex is that Kyle is bigger and more Accurate but Rex has one big thing over Orton Rex has a way better arm then Kyle, Rex can hit Hester on those deep routes
you think ortons better he has a pussy arm and sucks playing in cold weather if you havnt noticed and he makes the worst decisions as u saw in the packers game. o yea he cant even lead hester deep.
but i think kyle orton fits the bears strategy alot better than rex does: good defense, good running game to take up the clock, and reliable qb that wont make turnovers. rex just takes too many risky chances
Rex didn't get us anywhere we had a top 5 ranked defensive that year remember arizona he had a ZERO passer rating w/ 6 personal turnovers yet they won cause of defense and spcial fricken teams (DEVIN HESTER) I love the bears but have always hated Grossman and I've seen him play in person many of times so I don't just go off what I see on TV.
I saw a qb who although he threw 2 picks was able to take his team down the field when it mattered good rex could never do that(create a come from behind drive to put his team in position for the win)
You are continuing to show your ignorance. Rex lead the Bears from behind to win in Minnesota in 2006. He lead a drive to tie the game against Seattle in the playoffs.
Do you know why you can't remember why Rex was never able to lead his team to a 4th quarter comeback? It's mostly because you're an ignorant bastard, but also because a Rex Grossmen lead team was usally up by about 2 touchdowns with the last 5 minutes of the game.
and by the way by me saying that I had seen it in person was just my way of showing that I had a concrete opinoin based on what I saw altogether not just what was showed to me in highlights and stats flying on the screen. Rex has talent but has never stepped up into a role where he could carry a team Orton has help carry this 2008 team to a 8-6 less than glorious record but one that you can not even give half the credit to the defense.
How can u people say we suck when we are in first place.
Passing avg Orton 08 7.9 Grossman 07 6.3
In 5 games Orton has 1,100 yards.
In 8 games last year Grossman had 1,411.
I say we stick with one quarter back. Right now we are in first why change now. If we just stick with it I'm sure we can beat the packers. When we start cahnging quarter backs it messes up are groove. Idk if grossman or orton is better but i think Orton is more reliable and has less turnovers at least this year.
Good run game and solid defense is what opens up the deep threats, an Grossman had NONE of that in 07. That and the offensive line never seemed to pick up a blitz or at least give him enough time to set his fuckin feet. I'll support Kyle, but I still think Rex is a playmaking threat to any team. You gotta admit...Rex is takin all this like the man he is. He's not callin out his teammates or dissing the Bears or Chicago, he is just playin the game and taking it as it comes. GO REX
Excellent post and I've been saying the same shit for weeks. You give Grossman Forte, it opens up the play action which opens up the deep threats/running game. Grossman had jack shit to work with. A piss poor offensive line, running abcks that couldnt run or block for bliz pickups. I'm pulling for Rex to start sometime this season before it's too late. you can't rely on your defense/special teams.Your offense has to chime in and Orton is Brian Griese JR. Game manager.
umm no grossman was good when thomas jones was on the bears.he sucked when he didnt have an o-line and had benson in the backfield.actually all 3 quarterbacks sucked for the bears last year.

Bearsin07 - "Rex has never thrown 5 INTs in one game - Orton has." Peyton Manning threw 6 picks in one game, your point ? And Grossman lost the job because of Seattle's D-line ? How short are people's memories ? Our D and STs will keep us in games and score points. We just need a guy who won't slit our throats, move chains and not throw picks when someone's in his face. Rex did all those things and now it's Kyle's turn. Anyway, with our OL Kyle will be DOA in the ICU and you'll all get Hex back
Ok, so expalin to me why we haven't been winning Superbowls left and right since 2001. We've had a top 3 defense since 2001, and actually from '01 to '03 - we were # 1. We had "caretakers" as you call them in at QBs then... so why no Superbowl? Don't be an idiot. Look at any of the top teams in the NFL today - The Pats, The Colts, Cowboys - all offensive Giants. If you think a defense alone can win games you're a moron. You show me a team today that wins on defense alone.
Hey Mbond - "People just need to understand the situation before they start criticizing Rex!" - WHAT ?? We've been understanding the situation for some years now. The guy's decision making SUCKS !!! Yeah great QBs make mistakes, but not every second play
I have to admit i do think Orton is a little better i mean the Bears arn't going to put up a lot of pts. this yr. we all no that. So they need to run the game and do short passed Rex goes deeps and makes stupid decisions which lead to pics. Orton will manage the game and the Bears will b fine.
I don't know where Orton got this "game manager" reputation from. He's got a 22 QB rating when the bears are AHEAD by 9-16 points and has a worse TD-turnover ratio than Rex. And you want to talk about bad decisions? Rex has never thrown 5 INTs in one game - Orton has. Real good decision making right? The only reason Orton's out there is because his name isn't Grossman. He didn't win the job, he got it thanks to Seattle's d-line.
"Make no mistake - you will never see what you see in the video above from Kyle Orton. EVER"
Yep...everyone is admitting that Orton is nothing more than a game manager. He'll protect the Football but but he'll never have a 300 YD passing game. Look for several 6-8 yard completions.
6-8? Don't you think that's a little generous? More like 2-3, haha. Really, all this Rex hate started from the ARZ game and we won that, so people need to turn the page already. Before ARZ, Rex was puttin up MVP numbers. Any other games he lost for us? Don't say the SB because the Bears defense was pathetic. DAL? You can't just choose one play because that was a blowout. Seriously, how many did he lose for us? Not much. I can think of some he won and if Orton was QB we wouldn't have (OAK, DEN).
The first drive of that game Rex actually had time and put together a pretty good drive.NYG had a pretty good defense and Rex was getting killed all day and still managed to throw for 296 yards and a TD. I don't even think Orton has thrown for over 150 in a game. Orton has thrown 5 picks in a game once ('05 CIN), there's something no one talks about. Rex throws 2 picks and people want him out. People forget 2006 was Rex's first year.
back when we had an o-line, rex was damn good. now the kyle era begins, and i will tell you, orton himself will give it up because he will be tired of seeing kitchen sink blitzes every frickin play.
Yeah, I am a big Rex fan. I felt so bad for him watching the Seahawks game... Man oh man did our O-line shit the bed. That Chris Williams deal certainly sucks. The idea of bringing back Fred Miller really shows the state of our O-line. Desperate.
I hope Grossman starts this year. I guarantee if he had an OLINE...he would be almost UNSTOPPABLE!! the oline never holds a block for him. Just like the game I saw 2night..too many people were getting through..GO REX! and BEARS!!
Our offensive line might as well have stayed on the sideline. That was the most pathetic display I've ever seen. I don't know how Grossman walked away without a season ending injury tonight.

Grossman was in for three-four drives and managed to get a nice cut across the bridge of his nose, and a nice cut on his arm (Two different plays). He got his ass kicked because of the O-line. I'm blamin Kreutz. He could not be more overrated. As a captain, he should be callin people out, tellin 'em to get their shit together. Too many people were getting through because SEA blitzed a shitload of LBs. I think they eased off a little when Orton was in. Just glad to see other people realize that Rex has problems because he has no o-line. Sick of people saying Rex sucks and they have no idea what he goes through. He has about a second to make a decision.
yea I completely agree. Like if he is in shotgun, he still has hardly any time. I bet if he had a good O-Line..he would be an amazing QB! He does go through too much for a young player to go through. Everyone just looks at his mistake, but even the greatest QBs make mistakes!! People just need to understand the situation before they start criticizing Rex!
Favre throws a pick and it's "Dammit!", Rex throws a pick and everyone looks at each other like "Here we go again. PUT IN ORTON!" Orton is not the answer and he's not better than Rex.
