23 years ago when i was 17 i heard this. My mate's were listening to run dmc and public enemy. I was the youngest an a bit of a follower, but after hearing this it took me on my own path, a musical journey i'm still on now. Thank you Tallman
Brazilian drum n bass producer/dj, dj marky made a tune called "real good" on soul:r recordings which was inspired by this, this gives my ears orgasms
it's so interesting because it sounds like she's just making sounds like "la dee da" etc etc. but when the background singers come in they're all saying the exact same thing so it's like . . . they just made their own language through music! i love it.
WWWWOOOOOOOOOWWWWW!!! I'm in LOVE!!! This is the first Joyce I ever heard! I'm in LOVE, not only with her, but with this song! It's BEAUTIFUL!!! Did she write this tune as well?
@crwbano Did I just read this song was with Tania Maria? I didnt hear her, but the style is something Tania would do as well. This came out just before Tania's "Come with me " project.
this has GOT to be one of the most beautiful songs she does! Where is my lady? We are SO going to a paradisaic place, sink our feet in the green grass, watch the birds fly, sky float by and eat apple pie. =]
@lmvp I listened to it. Osunlade didn't put much thought into it. My 12 year old cousin could have mixed it better. I prefer the original. Do a search for Blue Six-Music & Wine (Th' attaboy vocal). Now that's a hot one!!
@lmvp This is by far the best version. Original. So earthy, funky and raw. I listened to it this morning whilst driving through beautiful Yorkshire countryside. The tops!
Eu adoro a Joyce tambem, mas a profundidade e largura de musica brasileira nao tem fim...If you had 100 years you could never know all of the wonderful music from Brazil! Dale Claus
@glimb393 My mistake...you are absolutely right! When I uploaded this I enjoyed this music, but didn't understand it. Even though Bossa Nova and Samba are close cousins and sound strikingly similar, there is a difference. Samba tends to be more driving and up tempo, while Bossa Nova is more cooler and relaxed. Bossa Nova also comes from Samba, just as Rock and Roll came from the Blues. But, to answer your question, Aldeia De Ogum is without a doubt a fine example of modern Samba.
You bet! Joyce's the best :) And if you do some more searching, you can see that there are a TON of samba subgenres, bossa being one of them... God I love brazilian music
Great record indeed. The bass line, the Rhythm guitar and Joyce voice is great on this record. I am so glad that this records was made. It truly makes you think of summer and good vibes where ever you are in the world. A Lovely, lovely record
One of my favourite Joyce songs...love it so much I recorded a version with my band! (a little more laid back than this one! - look for madeleine's couch). She has been an inspiration to me for many years. Seeing her live in Rio in 08 was one of the most wonderful musical experiences of my life. Abracos e paz.
This is a song I just can't get out of my head. Her voice is so beautiful. I've listen to some of her CD's but missed this one. I will be getting this one sometime this week. I hope Joyce comes back to NYC in the very near future. I really want to see her in concert.

A Joyce é uma das maiores e melhores representantes da nossa música no Brasil e no mundo! Tive o privilégio de vê-la no Teatro Ipanema nos anos 80.
Grande artista e a filha também é! Clara Moreno filha dela com o Tutti grande batera tbm!
