@Marvel952 response part2: Not being able to travel back in time makes it damn hard to prove who is right and wrong. I don't believe anyone in the wing chun society (here used to embrace all styles) will ever agree on what "the truth" is...and who are we to tell? :)
Our weng chun lineage evolves around Chan Buddhism. Among a bunch of philosophy it stresses that everything is in constant change. I believe that also applies to the view of systems and their evolution.
Ok, it's a mixture of different systems (Wing Chun, Shaolin, Chinna) but the execution is horrible. Compare him to any serious masters in China or even Europe. The only reason why some former Wing Chun practitioners now follow him ist that many Wing Chun teachers in Europe are even worse.
@FPCstraightH Well, from a person who considers himself a GRANDmaster I would expect not only physical domination in a cooperative scenario but more fluency and technical brilliance. The footwork is also, let's say average. If you looked at it from a neutral point of view you would have to agree with me.
@wp1509 as stated in the uploader's comments this is just "a series of training excercises blended together in order to train certain concepts and sensitivity" - as he says himself: let's now "play" with the 18 kiu saos. I have seen him in many fighting scenarios, and he is definitely not a guy you should underestimate. He is truly a master in all it's aspects, and a man many honor for his great respect towards all other styles.

Weng Chun....really? 永春 yong chun, in mandarin, 永春, wing chun in cantonese. 蓊 weng? means luxuriant? martial arts businessmen thrive on alternate histories and blatant rip offs.
Weng Chun is Wing Chun in China and in all the world .. In the video theres not wing chun. This is not chisao .. but is a hybrid operation without structure ..
Yeah right no unnatural and completely robot-like wing chun structure. We can do without that crap keep your great structure for yourself and stfu. People need to stop running their mouths on the internet.
1.A.H certainly knows a great deal about Wing Chun since he reached masterchip many years ago. He's just focusing on Weng Chun since it actually works in real fights. I heard him talk a lot about the common things the styles have and also about the differences.
2.Weng Chun maybe was very similar to Wing Chun 100 years ago or even the same when you go back to the roots but it has evolved into somthing different nowadays. You don't like it? thats ok!But stfu about stuff you don't know
Hoffman has created a hybrid style: Wing Chun, BJJ, Hung Gar .. but not goodHe does not know Wing Chun.Wing Chun / weng chun (in China are the same thing) have the structure, Chisato, forms, principles different from weng chun by Hoffman. You can believe in fairy tales .. I know the reality.
Andreas Hoffman is the BIG MOUNTAING of wing chun , i trained more years wing chun from different origin , when i was to the sifu andreas hoffman , i practice some months under him vision , he teached me so perfectly the flow energy , and the right angle of the body equilibrium , my wing chun / weng chun , and my energy power flow really increase , in this year where i still training martial arts ... not speak , go to Bamberg and do chisao with him ;)
@Marvel952 The "weng chun" style is so more different from the Ip Man wing chun system - some aspects are alike, but only a handful. Hence, a comparison of the two styles would equal one of karate and tai chi. Please stop comparing styles in this negative fashion....be happy with whatever style you represent and use the videos to share insights in a friendly manner.
O.k. no problem ... But to say that is different from the weng chun wing chun is a clumsy hoax in history. It would be fair to say that the weng chun Hoffman is different from the authentic chinese wing chun / weng chun. I do not like arguing, but you must assert the truth ... Peace, Marvel (Ip Man lineage kai)
@Marvel952 well, our two systems are still related history wise. However, the systems today are totally different. As for Hoffmann/Wai Yan's lineage it is said to derive from Dai Duk Lan when different masters were united to exchange their experience. Thus, "weng chun" can be seen as a mixed style originating from different masters whose styles were originally the same, but which had evolved in different directions (through a focus on different aspects: grappling, long pole etc). .....continued
Ok...I respect your opinion...but in China wing chun is weng chun. The weng chun of master Hoffman is an ibrid style ( wing chun/ hung gar/ bjj)...this is the opinion of the martial arts community .
@Marvel952 actually, in chinese, one is Eternal Spring, and the other is Forever Spring. Maybe you should say the opinion of your martial arts circle, because your statement doesn't represent the entire martial arts community. Weng Chun in my circle of martial artist is considered an older form, closer related to the original Shaolin style of Wing Chun, as well as its evolution from the meetings in Dai Duk Lan as stated by StructureFist.
@Marvel952 also, Shaolin Weng Chun traces its roots to the Sil Lum/Southern Shao Lin Abbot Chi Sin Sim Si who taught Hung Hei Gun and Luk Ah Choy this was the birth of Hung Gar Kuen. Later, Chi Sin Sim Si and the other elders started the Weng Chun Tang/Eternal Spring Hall and began to refine the styles of Sil Lum Kung Fu. After the temple was burned, it is said that Chi Sin Sim Si found refuge as a cook within the Red Boat Opera where he began to teach the refined art of Weng Chun.
@Marvel952 we all know that the most popular Wing Chun, or the most well known is Ip Man Wing Chun. Ip Man Wing Chun is highly modified from the original system. 1. Ip Man learned from 3 different people: Chan Wah Shun, Ng Chung Sok, and Leung Bik. 2. It is said that Ip Man also would visit Dai Duk Lan. 3. Most important factor is that Ip Man majored in Physics in College and applied the teachings of Physics to his Wing Chun to even further economise it.
@Marvel952 Last but not least, it is said that Ip Man is credited with beginning to use the Chinese term Forever/Wing instead of Eternal/Weng. And to be accurate, the romanization of Ip Man Wing Chun is Ving Tsun.
@Marvel952 response part2: Not being able to travel back in time makes it damn hard to prove who is right and wrong. I don't believe anyone in the wing chun society (here used to embrace all styles) will ever agree on what "the truth" is. ...and who are we to tell? :)
