Art teachers do have students draw upside down. Turning the subject upside down bypasses the brains preconceived notions of how things are shaped and forces the eye to see what is actually there. But this guy does it without a model, at great speed and what appears to be randomly throwing paint on the canvas without guide lines. Definitely not for beginners.
