HBO offered TD a contract to make 10 more episodes. Each 30 minutes long. But JB and KG would lose creative control of the band if they signed the contract. So JB and KG decided to reject the offer and make the Tenacious D: The Pick Of Destiny insted.

Apparently they are working on a 3rd album now to come out in 2010.

tenacious d went to get their contract renewed, and HBO wanted jack and kyle to sign a contract giving them creative control. but the D told them exactly where they could stick that contract. well, HBO didnt like that, so they cancelled the D`s show, thus leading to them making Tenacious D: the pick of destiny, and soon....the sequil. so, actually, their show getting cancelled was a good thing
