  • If I was Mr Lucus I would be so annoyed if Captain Peacock told me off for being 1 - 2 min's late then expect me to stay behind to practice something after the store closes.

  • HANDBAG!!

  • @dwarflover63 They only had ONE shot at taping this. They did 2 rehearsals and then one run through in dress and then taped in front of the live audience.

  • Mr. Grainger @ 21:51 reminds me of a squirrel with an acorn. "DO you mind?!" LOL!

  • Mr Lucas really is THAT good :P

  • Mr. Rumbold struggles to conceal his laughter at Mr. Humphries' comment at 8:08. Fantastic!

  • @Bonzostar I love Mr Humphries he is sooooooo cools:) I think he was the first english gay actor in a show like this:):)

  • At 13:45 i wonder if Wendy Richard was acting like she was laughing or was laughing for real at the joke made by Frank Thornton.

  • @Mst3kfanatic1 I believe she is really busting up laughing!

  • @Mst3kfanatic1 yes.it seems she isn't acting

  • This time Mr. Rumbold's secretary is very un-slutty! LOL

  • @ 1:59 and 2:06 Captain Peacock stumbles on Lucas' name. @ 2:06, he almost calls him Mr. Humphries!

  • in this particular episode, the only character who makes jokes at other people's expense is Mr. Lucas. only miss brahms makes a single rude comment... baldie... all other characters remain funny without resorting to insulting comments.

    YAY England

  • @sillybabybunnies Well he did it because that's his character the others dont really fit with the whole insulting thing.

  • Mrs Slocombe says she should not be expected to "clock in like a chah". What does that mean? I love these British shows here in the US on The PBS but a lot of the 'slang' goes right over me.

  • @szqsk8 a "char" was a manual worker, so she's saying she's not a skivvy/lowly assistant.

  • @szqsk8 A "char" as in "Chorewoman"...a cleaning lady

  • 4:31 mmmmm

  • At 13:45 Wendy Richard totally loses it! Very funny!

  • the expression Captain Peacock makes at 1:27 is perfect

  • Season 1, Episode 2: Our Figures Are Slipping

    Original Air Date—28 March 1973

Sales figures for the department are lower than expected so Mr. Rumbold has instructed the staff on new sales techniques. Besides viewing the store as a ship or a battlefield, Mr. Rumbold feels that the staff, particularly Mr. Lucas, should smile more in an effort to charm the customers.

  • Mr. Rumbold had a very small office in this season...

  • Rumbald the perenial corporate idiot..love his "meetings"!

  • Well it had to happen eventually.' Love Mr. Humphries!

  • "DO YOU MIND?" The way Lucas reacts to Humphries squeezing the buns is just priceless!
