  • P&W 3350

  • does that plane run the 4360 wright motor ?

  • I worked on it this year, and right now, it's about 100 feet from where I work everyday.

  • my dads best friend kith fick knows the pilot of rare bear go reno ;]

  • My great uncle is the Pilot for the rare bear GO UNCLE JOHNNY

  • Great aircraft, ungodly ugly paint job, really, really horrific.

  • Man, that thing is bitchin

  • 5*****

  • Is this an early Mustang?

  • @MyAssGlobalWarmlol I hope you were joking

  • This is a different prop than the one they were running in the '90s. That one had much wider blades and went "wop, wop, wop, wop" when it flew past.

  • Beautiful! Listen to that engine..shivers.Thanks for posting,rudy8278, and thanks for the share TheRealInvaderZim. 478.394 mph...

  • Was this shot at Tehachapi Ca?

  • Probably Stead, NV

  • Thanks

  • I liked the way he sounded with that crazy three bladed prop. Still nothing better that the Sunday Gold Race...

  • Eh? The plane has a four-bladed prop. Look closely.

  • Just beautiful.

  • Chills @ 4:16 .

    What a sound .

  • Yeah! Pure 53x!

  • Could you tell mewhat the team name is if you know it, so I can look them up. I am hoping to attend the races this year, however flight costs and accomadation in these dire times are a bit high, ho hum. UK by the way :) .

  • beat that,NASCAR

  • Thanks Rudy, did i mention how much i love the dawn patrol lately?

  • in what theater of war was this plane used? on who's side? ive never heard of this plane

  • It's a Grumman F8F-2 Bearcat, so it's US. It went into service in the Pacific theater at the very end of WW-II, so it never saw action vs. the Imperial Navy. The French used it in Indochina in the 1950s.

  • aw thats cool! ive seen a bearcat on Youtube before! i didnt rrecognize this one though! thnx

  • I bet that sound put the fear in the Germans and Jap's in #2.

  • It would have struck fear in the Pacific if the war had gone on longer. Thankfully, it didn't.

  • Ooooooh, that big radial sound, like a male version of Ofra Haza !!!!!!

  • Just awesome this baby!! Fast as a jet with a radial sound !! ;-P

  • I saw this plane win in the mid 1990's in Arizona.

  • I was there too! I was like 6 years old haha

  • So, I see he added some more color to the paint job on that rig. Less embarrassing now when he lands with oil smeared all down the entire fuselage? Or did he manage to get through a year without a blown engine this time? LOL

  • I remember watching him land at Mojave with a blown engine. Set down on two prop blades and the tail wheel. Great show of smoke and sparks and right in front of me!

  • That was actually Darryl Greenamayer in a different F8F, not Rare Bear. Remember him throwing the canopy back and surfing the damn thing down the runway? Impressive to say the least. I shook his hand and told him the story at a Lancair fly-in a few years back. There's some 8mm film of it around here somewhere...

  • i love the idle

  • I love the amazing sound of the plane

  • This is a hell of a teasing airplane....The best of the best! Whow !!!

  • Nice sound even if the video is a little...weak?

    Gotta love the Bear!

    :)
