Well this artist is Iraqi (or singing in the Iraqi accent). In this case it is rather that he misses his mother: either that she was killed in the War or that he was seperated from his mother after the war because he had to (in order to work or study, which is maybe not possible in Iraq after the bloody invation).

Arabs tend to sing to thier mother because it is a very high value in their life. In Iraq it is a lot stronger, because of the occupation and the invation again.
