I'm not really sure how Angus jumps around....while playing this riff. I notice in the videos, Malcolm just stands there.....while he is playing it. Oh yeah, for the flips between the A and E string and the D and A string part of the riffs, Malcolm uses his left index finger and ring finger.
Thank you for showing one of AC/DC's hardest riffs to figure out. It would have taken me much longer to figure out and I would have probably not gotten right.
TYSM for posting, im trying to learn this riff, other than the real Angus your the best on any site ive found so far, Many can play the right notes few can make them live.
it gets easy... Trust me, very easy... Are you a beginner... Because at first I have problems, now I can do it blindfolded, with guitar behind my head. Practice makes perfect...
that's pretty easy, no offense, well for me... You tried to learn some solos? Everyone learns Stairway To Heaven solo, try to learn Child in Time, and Master Of Puppets guitar solos...
i need advice, i would be better off with electric than acoustic right? acoustic is too damn big..and it's hard to push down, my parents wont get me an electric :(
An electric guitar would certainly be easier to play this kind of riff, however you should still be able to play it on an acoustic, from your description it sounds like the action (gap between string and fretboard) is too high, try lowering the bridge. Definitely get an electric sometime though!
man ur riff tutorial was awsome, but the chords were too fast. I didn't even get what u were doing, but i think this is what u were doing o pen A power chord, open e power chord, B power chord and then open G chord, open D then Open A Power chord. M i right? if i m the comment me on my profile. Thanks man!!
Thank you for posting ALL of these great videos! You've helped me smooth out one or two, and gave me my first real hope of learning some of the others. And THIS video, with the Tab-in-picture--you deserve medals. (Or pedals...hehe...) Thanks for posting!!!!
Thanks for all the positive comments - I will try and put more tab on my vids, takes even more time tho ;-( but I know it'll be worth it as it is sometimes hard to see what both hands are doing!
Yes, they are the same notes, but it doesn't give the same overall sound/feel Angus gets which the way demonstrated does. If you watch videos of Angus very closely you will see him playing it as shown, e.g., the slide down at the end from the 7th fret.
Thanks for the feedback though - and of course play it however you feel comfortable.
This is the real deal. This guy has got the riff exactly right. Other peoples versions of this are poor imitations. This is the correct way to play it. EXCELLENT !
Now play it again without the death metal distortion! It's covering up your awesome playing.

it Aint ANGUS cos ANGUS plays a G chord without the finger on the A string - ie open instead of 2nd fret B

This is such a fun song to play, this riff was quite a stretch for me as I've got really small hands but I loved playing it.

for the
-2---2---2
--5---6---7
part. its easeir to just play
7-4-5-6-7-7
all on the low E
just use ur ring finger for the 7's
pointer for the 4,5's
and the FU finger for the 6
skycodefilms 3 years ago
Yes you could - but it wouldn't sound as good, and it isn't the Angus way. But play it how you want, as long as you play it...
Cheers

You play it well, but if you arrange it like this: 5 4 2 4 2 0 2 1 2 2
0 3
It comes out the same, it just looks less cool.

You're right. It is kinda lame to do the bare minimal guitar-wise when it's Angus' riff, after all. It deserves it.
:D
