  • I'll say it on every video that doesn't. Pontiac didn't build it, so don't give them credit for what Holden did. It's a rebadged SS Commodore. Pontiac forgot how to make a performance sedan, so they bought from the company that sets the standard for it.

Love the gripe about no sat-nav. Learn to use a refedex you dumb, lazy idiot.

  • I'll say it on every video that doesn't. Pontiac didn't do shit, so don't give them credit for what Holden did. It's a rebadged SS Commodore. Pontiac forgot how to make a performance sedan, so they bought from the company that sets the standard for it.

Love the gripe about no sat-nav. Learn to use a refedex you dumb, lazy prick.

  • It says Pontiac on it ... who cares where is built? :)

  • Pontiac G8, Holden, Chevy Caprice... G8 is sexy, Holden is sexy, Caprice is not

  • pontiac didnt do it, holden did! dumb fucking yanks

  • HOLDEN HOLDEN HOLDEN~!!!! Now Pontiac is gone but you americans might still get them as Chevy SS.

  • love this car

  • To me the G8 looks like a sporty version of the Chevy Impala.

  • @stainshield GM announced a couple months ago that they will be using the G8 platform for the future Impala SS. Retracting their statement that it would be utilized for the Caprice. Thank god :)

  • @stainshield If they bothered to keep the Impala RWD. Allegedly the next model Holden Commodore, the VF, is pencilled in to go to America with Chevy badges as a civilian car. Likely to be wearing Chevy Lumina badges, just as it does in the Middle east. The next Chevy Caprice is not a G8, it's a modified Holden Caprice, the long wheelbase luxury version of the Commodore

  • WHAT THEY FAIL TO MENTION EARLY ON IS THAT THIS IS AN AUSTRALIAN CAR....(((OUR ONE AND ONLY HOLDEN COMMODORE))) nothing in it is American except for the Engine....We Aussie's are reteaching american's how to build cars.

  • @123ATOM321 I agree. It is so sad that Pontiac could not have kept importing your Holden's in America. I love the styling of the Commodore, and I will never sell my G8 GT.

  • @123ATOM321 I hate how they all fail to mention its a Holden VE Commodore!!! Pontiac did not build & design. Holden Australia did!

  • haha american engine? its from mexico and the car is australian. so the only thing american on it is the badge :) its a great holden...

  • american car .... ha ha , australian car !!! We know how to make a great rear wheel drive platform with a dirty great V8 in it , not front wheel drive taurus crap !!

  • @likeaaaglove

Yeah well soon we'll have that fwd taurus crap too when they use it for the underpinnings of the next falcon. I'm so annoyed and disappointed ford will give up on the proper rwd falcon.

  • @teutonicpenguin Ford USA has said that they don't want to do that to the Falcon any time soon, although the current Taurus has an AWD version. So long as For Australia are still building their own engines, that won't happen

  • for 5 more grand ill take a 2010 camaro ss

  • australian car not american

  • It has an american engine...

  • @nickster1318 yep, which means much better designed car, performance and styling. Just wish it could be a little more reliable.

  • hmm shows how soft americans are seats arnt cushy enough, not enough coffee cup holders they r for beer nd the u dnt need a gps to do a burnout

  • Fugly like everything else they make.

  • @cdrz australians?

  • just quietly.. why would you need an extra coffee cup? surely you only need to drink one at a time? and the seats in the g8/commodore are great they are nice and supportive i don't understand the big guys down point lol

  • moron americans! it aint a fucking american car. how many times they wanna claim that they built it. aussies built this one fuckwits

  • seriously why can't automakers make a car that looks nice, but not so expensive? i dont get why they have to make the car so powerful when most people don't need that much power. sigh id rather buy a car for looks than performance. but thats just me

  • thats what i said when i bought my v6 mustang. Looks get old, preformance doesnt.

  • thats what the G6 is for. This car is also available in a V6.

  • Another Holden Piece of Rubbish: I was the unfortunate owner of a VXR8 and from the day of purchase from Holden as a custom order, 80k AUD purchase price, 4 years of amazing design defects, 4 motors, and traveled 40K in 4 years. nearly 2 years of hire cars from holden and AVIS. Problems from Paint, trim, engine, brakes, camber rear, shifter hitting dashboard, gearbox, diff seals, squeeky dash, front and rear bars not aligned bla. Good Looking car, mechanically SHi&. Never Never again. BEWARE!

  • @camaro1967rs haha yeap they have some fantasic design flaws, but many have been fixed in the later models. Though visiblity is still extremely poor and and I just had the coolant motor blow up.

  • front grills yuk put the australian grill on it

  • it might be a holden, but let America have this car :P

  • I wish I had a dollar for everytime I heard the phrase Big American. It's a true blue Aussie Commodore mate

  • I wish i had a dollar for every idiot on youtube that thinks they need to say its aussy. WE KNOW ALREADY.

  • I wish i had a dollar for every idiot on youtube that

    spells Aussie wrong

  • because a 160 million idiot americans think its american

  • 2:08 !! The guy almost get out the wind-shield while his breaking !!!

  • If I stick a Pontiac badge on my 1979 Commodore does that make it a Pontiac too?

  • nope, technically the pontiacs are holdens so.

I would rather a holden than a pontiac

  • Wish they would export all the commodores in Aus, then I wouldnt have ta work on the heaps of shit.

  • lol aussies design them because we make the look best and porform best

  • aussies designed this, aussies designed that blah blah, oh yeah and they designed the new Chevy Comaro, it is 100% aussie designed looks like the aussies are designing the american muscle cars these days!!

  • WTF it is aussie made, EVERYONE drives them, we don't do all the engines (in aus u can get it with the 427cui from the corvette), but its built and designed here in aus. check it out Holden commodore. you can even get it in a wagon.

  • i fucking love mine, thiss car is like perfect, and i got mine brand new for 25k, stealll

  • Welcome to the club!

    Mine's a Stryker Blue.

  • I got mine for 25k, and its striker blue, and I love this car!

  • same here! GT :] white :[ would have perfered black :[ but red inserts :D

  • Shocking Enough we're getting ours in red for just alittle more then 12 grand brand new!

  • ya i heard that they are gonna relaunch and slightly remodel as chev caprice for police and private buyers. coz they love it lol

  • Aussie designed and usa redesigned and corrupted, whats new.

  • aussie designed AND usa CORRUPTED!

  • Fritz Hensderson needs to be Fired!!!

  • Let's see if GM Makes a Buick or Chev. Version since they killed Pontiac.

  • what the hell?

Pontiac turned our (aussie) beloved commodore into this? How embarassing...

  • what the hell?

They turned the Aussie Commodore into this?? How embarassing for us...

  • only issue with these new cars is u cant work on ur engine, i own one of these and it kills me to know i cant find shit on my engine

  • some of you americans need to open your eyes and see that this is an australian car designed and originally built in australia. the poms understand it why cant you. who cares where gm is located.this car is a gmh (general motors holden) check out the best version of this car its the hsv (holden special vehicle) gts. in aus you can get the car in 20 or so variations from a sports wagon to a stonking utility (which the previos model the vz maloo owns the worlds fastest utility record by the way).

  • I am with Pookatube. Pontiac builds great cars for the money you spend. My 97 Grand Am with a V6 3.1 Liter gets 33 MPG highway.

The interior of the G8 is Perfect in my eyes. I do not need this Blue Tooth bull, or a navigation system. If I wanted all the gizmo bullshit, I would spend another 20,000 and get a BMW.

Pontiac put the effort where it counts, the drive of the car.

  • agreed except for the bmw part

  • I like this car a lot but I don't like the name. It should have been the new Grand Prix.

I think one of GM's biggest mistakes has been dropping classic name badges that have done very well. Another example is the G6 it should have continued with the Grand Am name.

Ask yourself this question which statement sounds more impressive and bold, "I drive a Pontiac G8" ? "I drive a Pontiac Grand Prix" ?

To me names like G5, G6 and G8 sound too nerdy and very "New World Order-ish"

  • I agree about the G6-grand am name.....american car manufacturers bank on and rely heavily on model name/brand recognition....50 yr old names that stick around...corvette...classics like impalas, i dont see why they pitch some of these names...but cmon, its not like g5's are the best sellers on the market these days. Guess it doesnt really matter now that pontiac got the axe...but cmon...

  • Lol suck it all ve commodore come stranded with Bluetooth

  • Stupid Americans, took a perfectly good looking car and maid it look shiter then shit

  • holden version looks so so much better than the pontiac version

  • australian designed and built = australian car. " Holden is a subsidiary of GM but we are a corporate entity in our own right an independent company under Australian law. " Its rebadged as a pontiac just like the GTO.

  • But every Holden Commodore, Kingswoods and Premier were clones of a European GM Opel. About 2 years before Aus saw a new model there was an almost identical Opel model in Europe, they were called Omega, Senator & Commodore. So the shapes and names came from Germany, and most of the important turny bits are from the USA. So exactlly which bits are Australian?

  • Fire Fritz Henderson!!!

    SAVE PONTIAC!!!!

  • i second that motion.

    and third it

    and 5 billion it

  • the ve ss looks better

  • Interesting, that car has the old VY style commodore SS alloy wheels

  • the australian version looks much better

  • Comment removed

  • lol they keep calling it American.... I love the old GTO, and a lot of the dodge vehicles, but this isn't American. Kudos to the Australian car industry for creating another great car!

  • atleast it was made by an english speaking nation ;)

  • I just glad it's not american.....

  • actually it is american, even though the car may be built in australia its still an american car, owned and serviced by GM of america... sorry to tell you the pontiac name on the car is american to...

  • It is an Australian designed and engineered car by Holden with a Chevrolet engine. Pontiac rebadge it as do Vauxhall in UK with obvious minor changes. GM obviously do all the funding but this doesnt necessarily mean its an American car. Definately a beast though. Good job Aussies.

  • actually it is american, even though the car may be built in australia its still an american car, owned and serviced by GM of america. sorry to tell you the pontiac name on the car is american to. its no different when toyota put factories in the u.s. to build cars. its still a japanese owned car company and they are still japanese cars even if the u.s. exports toyota's made in the u.s. over to japan...

  • Your post is ridiculous. You Japanese car comments support the other side of the argument ! Does it actually make sense to you when you read it ? I f a Jap car built in America is still a Jap car, surely an Australian. car built in Australia. is very much and Australian car. The car is built in Adelaide and shipped to America. I think sales have stopped there anyway. GM itself has virtually stopped but Holden a're still building the cars in Australia. Holden may be one of the few GM survivors.

  • its just a big GTO sedan

  • bet you wish you guys had the HSVs over there

  • lol and it looks like a standard - Holden VE Commodore SS

  • i agree with themightythor

the car is full aussie but if anything about it is american it'd b the engine

  • Over here it comes in a lot of models, the basic V6 Omega, the more upmarket Belina, the luxury Calais, the super luxury Statesman LWB, the sporty SV6, the faster SSV8, the fast luxury SSV8 V, then theres the sportwagon version in Omega, Belina, Calais, SV6 SSV8 V, the utility in Omega, SV6, SSV8 versions, then there is the HSV versions, Maloo ute, Clubman, R8, Senator, GTS in sedan and sportswagon, thew V8 has gone from 5.7 to 6L, then 6.2 and now there is work being done on a 7L version.

  • australian version looks so much better... would be even better with the pontiac hood

  • 365 from a 6L is embarrassing.... LOVE the car though! i want one =]

  • well sure, you could get more, but *361 is a number that 6L can churn out all day. No crazy revs or compression needed. Dont have to have a handgrenade of a Ferrari engine to make good HP and Torque. Im sure the engine could be Cam'ed and blown to over 1k hp, for a while...but i'll take it as is and put 250k miles on it no problem.

  • you can get bluetooth now

  • Australia only had one good thing and that was Steve Irwin, GM owns Holden, so God save the the Queen yeeeah and what G

  • BONNEVILLE to the right at 5:14 its a white one xD

  • wats ur point

  • America doesnt make cars like this because amercan cars have crap brakes crap suspension "live rear axle supensione(mustang)" this car is australian born designed and made america go make up your own cars and stop stealing ours!

  • who came up with the idea originally? americans ....and u cant spell

  • Actually this car has been made and designed in Australia and has been in production in Australia since the late '70's so it wasnt America who 'came up' with the idea it was Australia who designed tis car by themselves.

  • ACTUALLY, it was AMERICA that came up with the idea. Holden (the company in Australia who markets the car) is owned and operated by General Motors. General Motors designed, tested and otherwise put this car together, then gave it to thier subsidiary, Holden, to market and sell in Australia. So good try, but it's an all American.

  • thats not true. Everything was designed and developed in Australia by Holden under orders from GM to create a RWD world platform. The only thing that is truly American is the engine.

btw, I'm an American, just tryin to give credit where credit is due.

  • Isn't the engine assembled in Mexico?

  • No , it isn't ... straight from adelaide south australia , mate ! It is totally made in australia , the engine is a chevy design but built in australia ... look it up !

  • na, it's made in mexico.. it's stamped on the engine block. it clearly says made in mexico.

  • It's all AUSTRALIAN !!! DICKHEAD !!!! GM owns holden ! Yes , so what ?? Holden built , designed and crafted your current Camaro which is now on sale in the U.S .... did america forget how to build big rear drive cars ????? Especially cars that can go around corners !!!!!

  • australians are pole smokers!

  • Yeah okay, and we'll take our LS series engines with us, LOL. I mean come on... I thought Aussies and Americans were on the same page... Affordable cars with lots of performance for the dollar? I do think they should keep a lot more of the Holden design - much better than Pontiac styling. Oh, what about the Corvette ZR1? The same bakes as a Ferrari... definitely not crap...

  • "This is what put American car design on the map" ....????????????????????

Are you for fucking real? Its a fucking Australian Holden design and all you've done is re trimmed it, get a grip on your selves america, its an Australian car!

    SUCK IT UP!!

  • An American company requested them to make it. General Motors.

  • bought it for 50,000

  • I bought it for $29.000

  • Wow looks so much better as a Holden, why do they always stick the ugly noses on the Pontiac badged Holdens?

  • Pontiac and GM have been doing that for a long time now.

  • i'll take the tl type sh awd

  • how are pontiacs on reliability? ...would this car be dependent as an everyday car for a good amount of time...years?

  • Australian designers designed the car to withstand... well Australian conditions. Australia has pretty rough terrain outside the cities and plus previous Holdens last for ever. youtube ve commodore and type in test and see if you can find any thing about reliability

  • hell yeah they make great everyday drivers

a tad high on gas eatting but the cars are amazing

  • i had an older pontiac a 98 grand am i drove the engine over 350 thousand kilometers and no major engine trouble ever!! the most i paid to fix something was 400 for a new intake because the old one started to leak.....they are reliable for sure

  • It is a Holden, which is from Australia, so it is NOT American.

  • Just got our '09 GT last night... Heck yea! The car is the real deal folks.

  • too bad they don't make this stick yet...designed for american drivers, so no suprises there! GT one has caught my eye i gotta say. Not a bad "australian" car! haha

  • I think the model was taken from the saab 93

  • I say make the car 20 grand and get rid of anything fancy on the interior. Engine/Handling > Interior. Also did anyone else notice the Trans Am at about 5:20? Bring Back The Trans Am!

  • i drove this car today and all i can say is wow 10+ to pontiac well done !!!!

  • OMG. The brake at 2:04 was... better not say it.

  • what? don't know much about cars so i wanna know, haha.

  • What the body tilt??

  • if its that good its because its not made in usa, so the only thing that makes it an "american car" is the badge

  • and the company.

  • i just test drove an ignition orange GT today and it was a BLAST. The engine sounds amazing the quad exhausts look great the design of the car is that of a german import sedan and the interior is very comfortable and suprisingly roomy in the back. Even a rear armrest is there. The interior materials are not that special and i wish there were paddle shifters but other than that for 30K you can't get a better deal on an new 08 car. I'm getting one soon.

  • sssooo what stupid the gto is a 2 door sports car the g8 is a 4 door sedan what more can u posably want from it i cruise with it if i push it im gonne and all my friends have more than enough room and my girl never complains about the back seat

  • Yeah, the car companies are going bankrupt because of operating costs for shipping parts to Mexico, and from Austrailia, and to Germany for Saturn for example. In my opinion there are better ways to keep the money home and in our pockets. So why can't our own engineers and factories be used to make our own parts etc. Keep the money home!

  • It's because the USA dropped rear wheel designs decades ago.

While other countries stuck with rear designs you can't complain about importing rear wheel cars when your own country basicly front wheel drive only.

  • All the car companies are going bankrupt, it has nothing to do with putting a V8 in this car.

  • still ugly

  • your mom is ugly asshole the g8´s pure beauty

  • the chubbier guy without glasses, is he australian or english? i think i can hear a bit of an accent in there somewhere...

  • English

  • dont hate because u dont have 1..fucking haters

  • IT'S AN AUSTRALIAN CAR FOLKS !! WAKE UP !

it only has an American engine, and a Pontiac badge, but that's it !

  • Yes, it's an Australian Holden imported by GM.

    Big deal. Here's a cookie. (0).

It's still a nice car at a great price for the American market.

  • "IT'S AN AUSTRALIAN CAR FOLKS !! WAKE UP !

it only has an American engine, and a Pontiac badge, but that's it !"

Holden is OWNED by GM. Nobody gives a flying fuck whether it originally came from Australia, Antartica or from your ass.

It's a great car and GM did a great move by bringing it over here.

Morons with your logic will not give GM credit for a great car. However, if a Holden model is a POS, you'll put the blame on GM.

Go kill yourself you stupid fuck.

  • The engine comes from Mexico

  • The engine is manufactured in St.Catherines Ontario, Canada!

  • again a worng direction from GM this should get a 4cyl and a v6 competing with accord and camry and the same option like them...GM is still in v8's ...thats y they are goin bankrupt

  • actually GM stopped making V8's since 1996, this is the first 4 door salon with a V8 since then, and its the time they stopped making the V8's they accumulated the most loses. Gm has a wide range from the daewoo matiaz, cobalt ss, to the malibu and cheverlet caprice, ranging from 4-r cyl. there should be gr8 V8's, V4's V6's and V12's in the GM lineup. this car is awsome, competes with the bmw m5, who cares abt japanese plastic crap. even japanese companies do badly!

  • That's not the only reason. I beleive the main problem is pension plans. But still, you gata love V8s :D

  • The Only Pontiac That's Worth It..

  • Solstice is a good looking thing,

GTO is goos aswell, same as this car, same chasis, same engine!

  • The G8 GT is not on the same Chassis as the GTO, and it is not the same motor. The G8 uses a L76 small block.
