Nevermind sounds amazing with what Butch Vig did to it but...i think it would have sounded killer had Chad played drums on it and it was produced by Jack Encino like Bleach. He's not the best time keeper but that's what would've made it sound more garage-y.
If you watch a lot of the pre-In Utero stuff (or pre-Nevermind in particular) Kurt Cobain smiled and laughed quite a lot. He, Dave and Krist had a ball....laughing their asses off at whatever.
But of course when the heroin kicked in, he probably wasn't the cheeriest fella around.
Although this moodiness was magnified by the media. And he threw some petrol on that for dramatic effect.
@Velasqxez Actually it's more likely about one of Kurt's friends called Dylan something or the other. The guy liked nirvana but wasn't into them enough to know what the lyrics were about, and he used to enjoy shooting guns. Hence the line about shooting guns.
For some reason I always prefer music videos where the band is just walking around having fun, inter-spliced with live clips and stuff. This is a great video. :D
@PAULisDEADMANnumber9 No this is the version recorded in 1990 with chad channing and they still had the sub pop label, right after this they sighned with dgc records. Its on the with the lights out box set dvd too.
@joeylikesfamguy ever wonderin why they jumped in chads drums alot, its cause they were pissed off at him, hed duct tape his drums together every night but kurt would just fuck them again cause chads style wasnt lets say bonham-esque enough for him unlike the animal that is Dave Grohl.
@joeylikesfamguy chad didnt quit, mutual agreement to leave but overall kurt disliked his drumming style and fired him, he didnt write for them later, he did bleach and wrote a lot of drum parts to nevermind but thats where it ends.
@duhgreatjob dude i took back what i said about channing and i disagree because dave himself said after the death of kurt he didn't talk about nirvana for like 3 years because he knew there wasn't anything to say. The Foo Fighters are a great band and i think kurt would be proud.
@TheSADrummer Chad Channing was his name, and Chad was good, he was more punk rock and gritty than Dave. Dave had a smoother sound than Chad. But if you listen to Bleach, Chad does the band justice. If Dave would've done Bleach I have a feeling it would've sounded a lot different. But you gotta give Chad his dues, he was their first permanent drummer until they replaced him with Dave.
@thakrazykid24 yeah man i know now at the time i didn't like it but i started to listen to the sub pop version more and i've come to the conclusion that channing is more grunge while dave is more exciting. I think both are good for Nirvana but it different ways.
i dont know what it is but i like this video to this song .. i know its a slower version to the song, but the video works.. just seeing them mess around ect its cool..
@64citykid if you knew kurt intimitley or personally, and arent just someone who saw him in concert and listening to his music, that may carry some weight. if not, join the sum 250,000,000 today that miss him and/or his music
@Blaulichtbalken i actually read somewhere that iggy pop showed to one of their shows and met the band. kurt was wearing a stooges shirt and was totally embarrased, and it wasnt one of the bands best performances. he shaved his head for punishment. lol.
It's still there. He just does a different melody (mostly lower notes) so it's harder to hear. Actually, he does it every time they play the main riff after the first time.
he was never a "proper member" of the band , he just toured n recorded demo's with them, he was in another band so couldn't commit to nirvana, so Kurt and Krist brought in Dave
.......it's kurt...... and goddamit what is all the hype about this guy, i love nirvana and all "grunge" if you wanna call it kind of shit, but kurt cobain is a little bitc. how could he get more credit musically than layne staley.
I respect both Layne and Kurt highly, beleive me. But Jerry wrote the majority of lyrics, tunes and riffs for AIC. Layne was a vocal genius, dont get me wrong. But thats why. Kurt wrote it himself.
this song is a delirious crticism to the society ."He's the one" ( the studid one) "doenst kown what it means" (youth today doesn't have ideals) nirvana could express so truely the modern lives.
