  • Saving money for a Virus TI Polar because of you, Keyboard Wizard ! ;-)

  • If I had a hardware based studio this would be in my rack for sure! :)

Nexus 2 is good, but not this good! NIce patches!

  • @niftman Nexus is NOT a synth, but a sample player.

  • @Kloes1971NL K thanx m8. :P

  • this sounds great through my laptop speakers

  • this synth is the real deal in sound. sounds SOOO much different than the big 3 ....... if you get a chance to grab a NOVATION SUPERNOVA 2... get it.. its amazing. with the virus. tis INSANE

  • That first sound is the coolest thing i ever heard in my life. nice work. awesome playing.

  • Thank you very much!

  • When I read people saying that the Prophet '08 sounds better than the Virus TI, I have to disagree, judging from the demos you've played on here. The TI sounds much more versatile, IMO.

  • Every synth you touch sounds golden!!!! You could make a good sum of money doing product demos for synth manufacturers. Your knowledge and playing skills...no bounds. Do you have a CD that I could purchase. I love your music. You mentioned a band you used to be in. Do you still perform outside of youtube? Thanks for all the great videos...Demofactory

  • Thanks for the kind words. I've indeed reached out to a few synth companies re: paid demos with zero success.

I do have a CD from the 90's that is available, as well as a bunch of free MP3s for download. Everything is at my website at thekeyboardwizard com.

For 18 months I'd been playing in a classic rock band on the weekends, but the group broke up, unfortunately, last month.

  • i have 1000 dollars to spend on a synth, what shud i buy(i will but used)

  • MANFMAN reminded me of somebody special ..

oh no, not the sound but the keys you played and changed the pitch on those certain keys! love it ..

    God Bless You.

  • keybdwizrd!!! i love your videos!!

im currently using a nord G2 modular synth and a dave smith prophet 08

do you think it would be benificial to just buy the TI snow rack or the keyed version??

is there that much of a difference?

  • As I recall, if you're doing sequencing the Snow can only do four parts while the other TIs can do 16. And I believe the Snow holds fewer patches than the TI. Never actually seen one myself.

  • prophet 8 sounding is way better, virus ti is digital sounding, good for many things though

  • lovely sounds! how are you running the TI connection-wise in these vids?

  • I am using standard MIDI connections to/from my computer, but I might as well just have it set up to play the keyboard locally. Nothing fancy or unusual going on here.

  • Man I love this keyboard.. and you are an amazing keyboarder. Hopefully one day I'll get this piece of hardware if I'm lucky, but I seriously doubt it its way out of my price range.

  • like I said before the keyboard wizard is a wizard itself I wish I could play the keyboard like this guy.

  • The FlootEko W sounds reminds me of the group Tangerine Dream. Nice and dreamy. Fan-tastic.

  • the keys look like they come back up really slowly

  • I read all about the Cycle of Fifths in my music theory book. I understand it now. Thank you!

  • I notice you like to play certain scales and keys. I don't know what they are but can you tell me? I want to learn them.

  • I have been playing keys since I was six years old, which was about 45 years ago. As a result, I am comfortable playing in most keys - whatever shows up in these videos is just the luck of the draw. That being said, I imagine in major keys I gravitate toward C, G, D, A, E, and Db. In minor keys I head toward Am, Em, Fm, Cm, Gm, Dm. Due to the design of the guitar, many rock songs are in sharp keys (G, D, A, E, etc.), so many years of playing with guitarists may pull me in those directions.

  • I really want to play with my friends band but I am having a time finding their. Obviously guitar players don't usually know what their doing so it's up to me to match up. I assume they usually play in pentatonic or G or Gm. What do you mean most guitarist play in sharp keys? G D A E aren't sharp. They are regular intervals are they not? I mean how can a root note be naturally sharp unless it's on a black key. Can you clarify please. I don't have money for lessons and I REALLY wanna learn badly.

  • G, D, A, and E are sharp keys (key signatures) because the notes in their corresponding scales contain sharps. Go to wikipedia and read about "key signature" and "circle of fifths."

  • I have a book called Music Theory for Computer Musicians and I just came upon the Circle of Fifths chapter. I haven't taken the time to understand it yet. It looks kind of confusing.

Okay, humor me mr wizard. If G is actually G sharp in key then what if I used G sharp as the root note? One more thing. Can you use ANY note as the root note for a key? I mean sure you can right? This brings me back to the conundrum of what is G# actually if the key of G is already sharp?

  • The key of G major is a sharp key not because the G is sharp, but because the G major scale contains a sharp, which is F sharp. There are many places to learn about music theory, but perhaps a comment board on YouTube is not one of them. :)

  • Ignore that question wizard. I have been up all night and Im delirious. I see what your saying. You mean the key is "brighter" with the sharps in it not that the root note is the sharp. Duhh!

  • Sorry, I ment I am having a hard time finding their key

  • Isn't G minor the pentatonic scale? Im surprised you don't play in that often.

  • The typical seven-note Gm scale is not pentatonic, but there are major and minor pentatonic (five-note) scales, which I generally don't use. Info about the pentatonic scale is also available at wikipedia.

  • As a long time synthesist, It's great that you are taking the time to answer questions on theory. Perhaps you should start a website on keyboard/sythesizer theory. Your knowledge what be gratefully appreciated by thousands of keyboard players.

    Bravo!!

  • I think you should invest in an Alesis Andromeda next. Id like to see what you can do with that!

  • can you record loops on it?

  • You cannot "record" anything on this instrument. You can, however, program the arpeggiators to play "loops" using the Virus's sounds.

  • oh thats what i meant.

  • Great to see ( and hear) Virus demo from you again. Those big bass sounds you get from fiddling with that knob are amazing. Keep it up Wiz!

  • Nice little box, if they just were cheaper :(
