pandora is my fave vampire and book of rice's vampire chronicles. you cant put the book down once pandora gets going- rice does her research on cultures of the times and knows her stuff (she even has a library of resources) well enough to get you completely sucked in and absorbed in her interwoven plots and visuals. one of many reasons why i love her books.
I finally made my way to this book - I stopped at Armand, but I haven't read Merrick yet, which I just got yesterday through amazon. So I'm going to read Pandora and Vittorio (it's two books in one.) then get back on track with Merrick.
You know, I almost regret having stopped reading this series. I accidentally happened upon the Queen of the Damned one night and watched it until the end, all the while going, "Twilight is a complete rip off of this (this was when I actually thought of the Twilight series as a good one)!" Then, several months later, I stumbled upon Pandora and read it because I remembered the name "Lestat." I ended up reading the first books up until The Tale of the Body Thief and then I stopped. Should I cont.?
I have an undying vision of Pandora: The Movie. If it ever gets made it must be epic, a long, finely detailed film. Considering the context of the book, it would have to be like the many classice greek/roman/christian based films - at least 2.5 hours long to cover everything in good faith!
the characters in the vamp chronicles were so real for me..i was there with them in there journeys.but at the same time it opened my mind to knowledge. i lost my collection of ur work that i had and that saddens me. i didnt want to read the christ novels cause i wasnt sure if i wanted u to paint that clear of a pic for me. ill be one of the selfish and hope for more of the series.

I started reading Anne Rice's books back in 94' and loved every single one that I read. I was in my teens back then so after hearing this, I will definitely have to re-read all of my favorite books again. Anne, I loved the Vampire Chronicles and have yet to read your newer books, but you are by far, one of the greatest writers that I've ever came across. The mental pictures that you paint in the mind while your novels are being read, puts you right with the main characters. THANK YOU ANNE
i had no idea her vamps were metaphors. that explains SO much! i was pretty young when i read them. i stopped at pandora. i feel, i owe annes brilliance more than that seeing as the stories were worded rather deep, in my opinion. i shall reread them. hopfully, they won't be over my head this time.

i think a much better question would be; who gives a shit? The series is RETARDED, and Ann Rice will die a slow painful death for those books if there is any justice in the world. People who believe in vampires/ like vampires are just socialy innept pussies who go for this shit because it's a (blatent) metaphor for being different (and yet special). They believe in it because they too wish they were special, but really they are just pitiful waifs condemned to mediocracy.

Just putting my hand up as a pitiful waif then! I love Anne Rice and all the vampire novels.....and I don't give a shit. What you or anyone else thinks!
Pointless. Period. In the middle of that sent.ence. You dike. Whether or not you like vampires is irrelevant, because it doesn't change the fact that Anne Rice is a scurge upon english litterature. Millions of people believe in monotheism, does that mean there is a god? No. Everyone KNEW the earth was flat during the middle ages, does that make it so? No.
Vampires were pathetic to begin with, and by turning them into gay(er) Fabios Ann Rice has commited a heinous crime against humanity.
"Hunt" If you dislike Anne's writing or the path her life and books have taken, that's your prerogative, however the fact that you come back and post here again, and again, and again, makes me wonder what the hell you're so afraid of? The anger and hatred in your "voice" is just simply mystifying. Have you even read any of her novels? Or are you going on mere hearsay? And if you have read her novels what is it that has touched you so deeply in such a negative way?
The only thing here that's just simply mystifying (appart from how Anne Rice still manages to sell her terrible stories..) is your incessent and needless use of quotation marks. You didn't need to quote 'hunt', nor was 'voice' even a quote at all.
I don't need to read those literary abortions she passes off for novels to know she can't write, i just know. I know it like i know kazakstan is a shithole without visiting.
Thanks for answering the question, and proving the point that you are merely judging a book by it's cover. Your prejudice is duly noted. Now you go and have a great day sweetie. *HUGS*
Forgive me for waisting our time, but I am couriouse. Why do you care about what other poeple read? Why does it bother you that some one you do not like has fans? Its kind of childish to bash a writer (and I use that term loosely), who know you exist, and it is very childish to bash poeple who read something you do not like, it is not like it is causing you any harm, nor is it harming those who enjoy the books,
Um, dirty fucking vampire lovers absolutely hurt me. They hurt my eyes, my ears and my brain. They are a constant offence to every sence at all times, even when they are completely silent.
I'm slightly confused by your words "who know you exist". What, is that supposed to be a threat? Like "she knows where you live" only without that level of specifics. If it is, i'm not at all impressed. What's that 60 kike going to do? Send her legions of sweaty geek fans after me?
Okay I wrote the comment to quickly and left out a word. I meant to say, she does not know you exist, so you are not hurting her, just annoying poeple who enjoy her stories.
but then again what should I expect from an Asshole with nothing better to do than to troll other videos that other poeple enjoy. I pity you, find yourself a hobby, go to a movie, or read a book you enjoy or watch a game on espn, or

Have you ever considered that maybe i LIKE to troll? Hm? Maybe i don't like espn, maybe i don't like books. Maybe, just maybe i d
if anything you should be less concerned about those who read an Anne Rice novel, and those who read a book that can cause harm, such as, "Mein Kampf" and "The Turner Diaries", both of which were found in connection to hate crimes and tragedies such as Columbine High School massacre, Red Lake massacre, the suspects of both attrocities were avid readers of Mein Kampf, so why should you worry about Anne Rices poor writing when there are far worse things out there
i thought the witching hour series was boring and i read all 3, more than once, it turned me off the vampire books,, and whats with the hype about vampires these days? but i actually like the christ book she wrote, i almosr finnished it in 3 days, cant wait for the road to cana
I recently finished Pandora... just yesterday actually, and it is an inspiring book! I learned a lot about a roman's point of view in ancient times. I found the writing style in the book BEAUTIFUL naturally, since Anne Rice wrote it. And the romance between Pandora and Marius is so sweet even though they argue much. Still, through all of that I think they are the perfect. match.
I think Pandora was completely mad. But her madness was different from the raving nuttiness of Mekare and Akasha. Her madness was subdued, tempered with some sanity.
What a lovely reading.Your empathy for the human heart shines through so eloquently.I am currently reading the entire Vampire Chronicles. I am nearing the end of "Merrick" right now.
Lestat's harrowing trip to heaven and hell in "Memnoch the Devil" contained astounding imagery. I look forward to reading "Pandora" when I finish the others.
In reading the Chronicles I've wept three times, twice in sadness, once in joy. The first was the most open in sadness and horror in TVA when Armand realizes the victim that the Children of Darkness fed him was his best friend. The second was pure joy in QotD at Armand's reunion with Marius. The third was in Pandora when she was still the mortal that lost her entire family, everything she knew. She's beautifully complex and inspiringly strong beneath it all.
I got the book finally, you were right, it wasn't hard to find it in stores. I'll just have to get used to reading it in english. thank's PandoraKyss very much.
Okay questions, please respond asap. Are Pandora and Vittorio the vampire related in any way? And is it easy to get Vittorio the vampire book in stores? Thank You
Vittorio is not related to any of the other Vampire Chronicle characters; Pandora included. It's a stand alone vampire novel. I've never read it, having thrown it across the room when Vittorio renounced the 'Coven of the Articulate.' It should be available in most book stores.
Vittorio is so different from all the other books. Not only is it a stand alone novel but Vittorio's story is about the end of his mortal life which is very different from all her other novels.
I like Tale of A body Thief! It was great. I like the part where David tells Lestat that he should realize he truly wanted what was given to him without his asking. I think that's how ti went. I havent read it in motnhs now :P
I used to think that I knew how to use words and make them flow vividly through the scenes they described. But when I read Anne Rice's books in original language I was transformed once again into the little five year-old child just having learnt the entire scale of colours in English. Rice's writing is, to quote herself from "The Vampire Armand", not by human hands. *lines up with Desicat674 and bows to Anne Rice*
Anne Rice is a great writer. I wish she would go back to vampires, though. She wouldn't be turning her back on anyone. In fact, I believe God would be happy if she was doing what she truly wants. But maybe this is indeed what she truly wants? Either way, I respect her decisions and her strong conviction. She is and always will be a big inspiration for me even though I might disagree with some of her choices or beliefs.
Anne, I read your first book on the Christ and I really enjoyed it. But I have one burning question of concern. Throughout all of your thorough researching, you never came across the fact that Christ is a man of color? I look at the cover of your second book and it really let me down in a major way. I enjoy reading your work but you must stay consistent with truth.
ok I really love her book especially Pandora. Since I 'm not so old I haven't read it as many times but IT REALLY CHANGES MY THOUGHT about a lonly mortal
Anne Rice has a mind that is golden..immutable..not able to be imitated! She inspired me to write my own book of my own vampire, to whom for me, is also my metaphor of love.
This Book meant the world to me. I borrowed it from the library when I was 13. I am now 18 and I have read the book multiple times. I love it so much. I used to read it out loud and pretend I was Pandora, corny, I know.
I Love Anne Rice and Pandora is just one of the books in the Vampire Chronicles that I love. It was just brilliant that she was able to flesh out a character that we only saw a bit of in Queen of the Damned.
How I wish Anne could have written more of the other "Minor" characters in her wide mythology like Jesse Reeves, Khayman, Mael.
That was my one of summer reads and I loved it! I love the strength of Pandora's character and her relationship with Marius. Anne, you truly are a woman of beautiful words and the Vampire Chronicles will be missed greatly. Nevertheless, you are still a wild inspiration to me as an aspiring writer.
I love that you read this passage Anne, as it is one of my favorites from The Vampire Chronicles. I just wanted to say that your true fans are still with you, and that we always will be. Your heart is in your writing, and it awoke the writer in me 15 years ago. You'll always be my first inspiration. Thankyou.
If Lestat ever returns it will be in a redemptive novel. I outlined the book in 1998. Then went into a diabetic coma and the book was never done. There's something to be done there, but my consecration to Christ remains firm and right now I'm working on books directly for Him. Thanks for thinking of me. Take care, Anne Rice.
I have faith that all your future endeavors, whatever they may be, will be as colorful and wonderfully written as your past works. I am also certain that your true fans, myself included, eagerly await your next novel. Best wishes for the holidays to you and yours. Joyeux Noel from the Canadian Maritimes.
I miss your vampire days Anne(even thou I wasnt even born when most of them came out hehe)!! :(
Thank you for all the great books Anne, I love The Vampire chronicles even more then J.K Rowling's Harry Potter books(wow)...I have mad love for yoooouz!! :) :)

Your anger is palpable and you are nothing more than a bitter fan who wants your way.

My my you do seem to assume a lot now don't you
for instance people who read those books don't automatically believe in vampires or feel the need for a metafor for being special
I just like her style of writing and just like the subject vampires, and I like them because they are cold and indiferent.
You and I can both learn from that I think.
Please in the future don't ventilate these foul thoughts so publicly,

Anne Rice is a great writer. I wish she would go back to vampires, though. She wouldn't be turning her back on anyone. In fact, I believe God would be happy if she was doing what she truly wants. But maybe this is indeed what she truly wants? Either way, I respect her decisions and her strong conviction. She is and always will be a big inspiration for me even though I might disagree with some of her choices or beliefs.

I have no idea. It's a gift xP
But my mother is an English teacher and I watched lots of American media growing up, so that helped a lot too.

I loved Pandora! Its is one of my most favourite Vampire Chronicles. Though I do love them all.

Pandora's words are absolutely beautiful!
Anne Rice has a mind that is golden..immutable..not able to be imitated! She inspired me to write my own book of my own vampire, to whom for me, is also my metaphor of love.
Thank you Anne Rice for all your wonderful work!

This Book meant the world to me. I borrowed it from the library when I was 13. I am now 18 and I have read the book multiple times. I love it so much. I used to read it out loud and pretend I was Pandora, corny, I know.

I don't find it corny at all. Pandora is one of my favorite books. I luv it so much. And yes I still read as crazy. =)~

Blessed Be.

I love that you read this passage Anne, as it is one of my favorites from The Vampire Chronicles. I just wanted to say that your true fans are still with you, and that we always will be. Your heart is in your writing, and it awoke the writer in me 15 years ago. You'll always be my first inspiration. Thankyou.
Blessed Be.

Will we ever see a resurgence of vampire tales? Or even just the tale of the Talamasca, will that story ever come? ...
cadaigl 4 years ago
