@quishaluvsrob14 well the ultima weapon has no materia growth but full slots, the Apocalypse sword has triple growth rate with only 3 individual slots. it can be found in the grassy mound near cosmo canyon. nearby where ultimate weapon died.
@DeadlyNightshadeZ the only character known to be able to do that is barret, its impossible with cloud because on the first battle off the train he levels up resulting in his hp differently because every level cloud needs materia to reduce his hp growth by 56% for every level untill level 100. The only way to get him to 7777hp at the start of each battle is to reduce his mp to 877 use the mp hp materia then use potions to heal him before each battle.
I had my cloud have 7777 max hp natural, so no hp plus or anything, then I put the phoenix summon and last strike (when you die you use that skill before going down) Cloud uses lucky 7's, the boss kills him, he revives, and brings the whole party back too, pulls lucky 7's again, and then I continue the battle.
When the aftermath windows popped up I could have sworn I heard the noise for the exp and gil transferring...I feel like I can still hear it as I type...
@BinaryDood its only a one time thing. the character with all lucky 7s hits the enemy a total of 64 times at 7777 damage each. after the 64 hits are done. it goes back to normal attacking. but all attacks magic and physical deal 7777 damage.
I once done the lucky 7's with the help of HP/MP Switch and I was like "yeah, this time you'll see Ruby...". Then I saw it wasn't forever and I lost. -.-
One more thing... after using Lucky 7's your HP runs to 1. Or is it just in European Version?

@Troggzorz im also 21 and i beat it around 8 years ago as well lol both him and the rest of the weapons. ruby is easy to beat at the right level for your characters and without epic problems if you have the right materia for it too, with or without knights of the round you can do pretty well. another way to use the 7777 glitch is barrets limit break where it does a lot of TINY damage but with the 7777 glitchits like all that tiny damage that does a lot added up does 7777 EACH hit count lol
I have a save file with a video i might upload with all of them at lucky sevens without gamesharks or cheats on the pc "outside of battle and in!!!" (its all in the math,with ahint of demi 3 and 2-or laser.)
The lucky 7777s will not last forever. As shown in this video. The intent was for all lucky 7777s to pop up against normal enemies letr in the game that wouldn't survive that many attacks.
@ImClutchK I used the Manipulate command on a weak enemy and had it attack Cloud doing 15, 11, etc. etc. points of damage until the last 2 digits were "77" then you finish that battle, and use potions to get the hp to 7677 before entering the battle with Ruby. It's a pain in the ass because if you're at level 99 and have 255 in all stats then you see a lot of "miss" so it takes patience. Or you can do that magic thing, but I couldn't get that method to work. I'm just sayin'.
@ImClutchK Get hp over 7777, take some hits, then potion to about 7600, put the cat's bell accessory on, and walk around on the highwind, you recover 1 hp per step, so you walk constantly checking your health till you are at exactly 7677, then use a potion and there you go, you can also put it exactly to 7777, and get it as soon as you start the fight.
now I've seen everything. I didn't expect to use that kind of strategy. And not only that, that was amazing that after 64 auto attack, you can control your character freely again. Amazing!

@Percevaly Did you count the comets at the end? It randomly stops you sometimes, and lets you pick another move to spam. Didn't you wonder why he was casting comets in clusters of five, that just happened to be doing 7777 damage?

@ernonno After beating Final Fantasy VII almost 6 times now im pretty sure i know how the game works. i have maxed my characters and done everything i can think of to make the game diffrent than the other times i played it but i have yet to have one of my characters pull that shit. @MSdapiedpipa I have never used any form of game altering to better my virtual experiance. i believe games were ment to be played a certain way and any attempt by the player to alter the game in anyway is cheating in my opinion. To answer your particular question i'll simply say that i do not recall getting lucky 7s on final fantasy VII however after playing it so many times it is possible.

@superdragonfly123 You can get back out of the Northern Cave. You need to get to the screen where you can see the Highwind. You can climb up the slope from there.
go to the top of the cave and up all the way you should be able to climb up to the airship try pressing circle everywhere till you jump on and climb the rockface
you can find one in the underground tunnel's dead end (when you go back to midgar... just before the fight with hojo at the top of sister ray) at the end of disc 2
To all posters below about Double Cut, W-magic, etc.:
Those materia serve therir purpose at certain points and in certain battles. I used W-magic for someone that only had 1 or 2 magic materia in their equipment. As long as it helps me attack for more damage I use ANY materia available. There is no "best" setup. Use your own stuff.
@HappyHawaiinSauce I don't know what the point is. Why have Double Cut materia when you can have Slash-All or Steal instead of Steal As Well? I don't know why they decided to put these materia's in the game.
@HappyHawaiinSauce Slash-All is only good for battles at the Battle Areana. Double Cut is the main damage-source, if you want to rid of the bosses easily. XD. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, Double Cut is practically a Slash-All when at 4x Cut.
So in turn, Double Cut supremely surpasses the Slash-All Materia.
"Cloud Performs 7777 damage repeatedly whilst I play some unfitting silence over it" Would be a more accurate title :) I never got too far into FF7 so Watching this kinda stuff is a credit to your name.
@dragondook If you know you can beat Ruby by using Lucky 7's and Comet materia, it's a good thing to get all your summons in as well for the AP gain at the end of the battle. 50.000AP!!!
@lussifer99 life points need to be at 7777 as the name suggests in order to get the lucky 7's attack. When that happens, the character will attack nonstop until their life points hits 1

@gigas81 Lol I'll try to make sense of it all: He made a comment about FF13, not FF7, in which a black character was running around and ran into a shadow, then had a crash. In that comment he said there was no airship, so I replied simply stating there is an airship in FF7. Then he said" Yeah, because theres SOO many black guys in FF7" Which doesn't make sense because... there is a black guy(sub-main chars) in FF7 and FF13... Oh and I have no idea where or why "Africa" came in into discussion
You can also do this by manipulating an enemy and attacking yourself with them. If you want to take little amounts, just make them small and will take off 1 each time. Attack yourself until your health is 7777 and make sure it stays at 7777. The next fight you go into, the person with 7777 health will attack instantly (about 12 or 13 hits) each taking off 7777 damage.

find a low level monster, loose hp and when you are around the 7677, use a mini spell to reduce its size, so that he will makes you only 1 hp damage.
Then, when he brings you to 7677 go on the fight and drink a potion that gives 100 hp.
Example of low monster good for this trick:nibelheim wolf.

@Percevaly Did you count the comets at the end? It randomly stops you sometimes, and lets you pick another move to spam. Didn't you wonder why he was casting comets in clusters of five, that just happened to be doing 7777 damage?
He made it to 74 attacks before the thing died.

@ernonno After beating Final Fantasy VII almost 6 times now im pretty sure i know how the game works. i have maxed my characters and done everything i can think of to make the game diffrent than the other times i played it but i have yet to have one of my characters pull that shit. I dont care if it was a mod, hack, gameshark, glitch w/e the fuck you want to call it the point is SOMETHING had to be done to make that happen that was player caused. In the real world we call that cheat. Stupid fuck

@MSdapiedpipa I have never used any form of game altering to better my virtual experiance. i believe games were ment to be played a certain way and any attempt by the player to alter the game in anyway is cheating in my opinion. To answer your particular question i'll simply say that i do not recall getting lucky 7s on final fantasy VII however after playing it so many times it is possible.

@Asakura9109 thats admirable and all, but its not a hack. its just a part of the game. i think the put it in simply for the weapons cuz they have so much hp. but i was playing it and randomly got it in the forest. it just looks hacked cuz it hits like 63 times and whenever ppl get it its usually on a random fight

And hey its cool and all hell i wouldnt mind it happening to me once in a while. but just by reading the description, then watching the video.. this kid knew what he was doing. All i said was lol at the glitch or hack. And it is infact a glitch. otherwise he wouldnt be able to duplicate the scenario to make a video of it. Anyways im not gonna argue about it with anyone. just sayin wheres the fun if u know you cant lose. anyways thanks for being cool about it. l8r.

@Asakura9109 i get what youre sayin. he defintely knew what he was doin. people manipulate their hp to get it that way cuz its the cheap way to beat him. i honestly never thought of doin that but in hindsight if i could abuse that the way this guy did the game would have been alot easier. if not as much fun. And for the record i love Final Fantasy, but my favorites are FFIV and FFVIII

Like I said it was not a mod, hack, gameshak, glitch or whatever you call it.
It's an implemented easter egg in the game, nothing is modified, it happens, it happened to me while fighting Proud Clod the first time ever.
It happens only when your character, in battle, goes from xxxx to 7777.
Using this special abilities isn't cheating, it's being smart.

@superdragonfly123 You can get back out of the Northern Cave. You need to get to the screen where you can see the Highwind. You can climb up the slope from there.

go to the top of the cave and up all the way you should be able to climb up to the airship try pressing circle everywhere till you jump on and climb the rockface

To all posters below about Double Cut, W-magic, etc.:
Those materia serve therir purpose at certain points and in certain battles. I used W-magic for someone that only had 1 or 2 magic materia in their equipment. As long as it helps me attack for more damage I use ANY materia available. There is no "best" setup. Use your own stuff.

to those people who are having a hard time setting their hp to 7677
set your materia like this:
kotr = hp absorb
master final attack = master revive
mimic
HP+ and MP+ (hp must be at 9999 at least and mp 999)
note: make sure str is max. use power source. morph enemy where u get Titan materia.
before battle starts kill the other 2 char in ur party. dont revive them.
make sure you thing is configured so the last action you did will be saved. press "O" continuesly to repeat same action

@HappyHawaiinSauce Slash-All is only good for battles at the Battle Areana. Double Cut is the main damage-source, if you want to rid of the bosses easily. XD. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, Double Cut is practically a Slash-All when at 4x Cut.
So in turn, Double Cut supremely surpasses the Slash-All Materia.

@dragondook If you know you can beat Ruby by using Lucky 7's and Comet materia, it's a good thing to get all your summons in as well for the AP gain at the end of the battle. 50.000AP!!!

@lussifer99 life points need to be at 7777 as the name suggests in order to get the lucky 7's attack. When that happens, the character will attack nonstop until their life points hits 1

What happens is that you have to get 7777HP ONLY IN FIGHT. Then you will attack some huge amount of times (like 50 or 60 times)

Im still lost to what the debate is about. we all agreed there is an airship but what does Barrett being dark skinned or black or whatever you want to call him have to do with the game supposedly getting an error?

@gigas81 Lol I'll try to make sense of it all: He made a comment about FF13, not FF7, in which a black character was running around and ran into a shadow, then had a crash. In that comment he said there was no airship, so I replied simply stating there is an airship in FF7. Then he said" Yeah, because theres SOO many black guys in FF7" Which doesn't make sense because... there is a black guy(sub-main chars) in FF7 and FF13... Oh and I have no idea where or why "Africa" came in into discussion

For ruby weapon: cloud only: gave him master summon, magic, and command, 2x-cut mastered and HP plus with ultima weapon, mystile, and ribbon.
for emerald weapon: Cloud, Cid, and Vincent
Cloud: Ultima Weapon, Imperial Guard, Champ Belt
Cid: Venus Gospel, Aurora Armlet, Champ Belt
Vincent: Death Penalty, Bolt Armlet, Champ Belt
Cloud: 2x-cut(mastered), HP plus, FullCure
Cid: MP plus, W-Item, 2x-cut
Vincent: Bahaumat ZERO, Quadra Magic, Time, All

You can also do this by manipulating an enemy and attacking yourself with them. If you want to take little amounts, just make them small and will take off 1 each time. Attack yourself until your health is 7777 and make sure it stays at 7777. The next fight you go into, the person with 7777 health will attack instantly (about 12 or 13 hits) each taking off 7777 damage.
