Also I don't see how anyone could accuse her of not being feminine, I think she has a wonderful feminine grace about her. She's just not plastic and overdone, but she's definitely a beautiful woman.
I didn't think I would like Dessa at first, since I'm not much into hip hop at all and I usually don't respond as well to female musicians (I get migraines easily and I like low tones better). But after listening to several songs I am blown away by the talent in her lyricism and her voice. I just went and bought this cd, and I haven't bought a cd in years. :) Dessa I hope you have tons of success.

@slovenija1 My theory about why T.C. hip-hop is so good: The Twin Cities are usually ranked high on the list of "Most Literate U.S. Cities" (who knows why... probably because it's so cold most of the year there's nothing to do but sit inside and read... oh well, that's another theory)... anyway, Twin Cities hip-hop is a lot like poetry set to beats; very wordy, which makes sense, if you tie that back to the whole "people tending to read a lot here" thing. So there's my hypothesis.
@jhs81 I personally don't think that any of the ones you mentioned, except for Lauryn Hill are better. I like Psalm one, not a big fan of Ladybug. Invincible is great, too and so are Apani B and Jean Grae. The thing is...all great female MCs are so few and far between that they have a very unique style that makes them great.
